Our mission is to provide young people (7-13 years old) with the opportunity to learn about art history in depth via hands-on experiences that bring subjects to life in a fun and engaging manner. Whether your child loves painting and drawing, has a fascination with puzzles and riddles, or has recently started to develop strong views about the world, Vincent and Frida will help to cultivate in them a lifelong curiosity about the art they see around them. Our courses will teach students a number of valuable skills including the ability to closely and carefully study artworks, analyse visual information, draw connections with other sociopolitical topics, question historical beliefs and form their own opinions on a broad range of subjects. The immersive and fun courses will run during school term time, with 9 sessions per term. UPCOMING EVENTS Our classes can be booked as a trial lesson (subject to availability). Trial lessons demonstrate our course structure and allow students and parents alike to experience what makes our teaching methods so compelling and unique. Each taster session will focus on a different topic. This beautiful photography gallery is located a short walk away from Russell Square station, and offers a wonderful, bright space for adults to wait whilst their children are exploring the world of art and houses a welcoming cafe .

Shortly after, the words ‘Father Forgive’ – deliberately neutral in content – were inscribed on the wall of the ruined chancel, and Provost Dick Howard made a commitment to not seek revenge, but to strive for forgiveness and reconciliation with those responsible. During the BBC radio broadcast from the Cathedral ruins on Christmas Day 1940 he declared that when the war was over we should work with those who had been enemies ‘to build a kinder, more Christ Child-like world.’ The Cross of Nails quickly became a potent sign of friendship and hope in the post-war years, especially in new relationships with Germany and the developing links between Coventry and the cities of Kiel, Dresden and Berlin. Learn more here Coventry Cathedral is thus one of the world’s oldest religious-based centres for reconciliation, and its work in recent decades has involved it in some of the world’s most difficult and long-standing areas of conflict. Today the medieval ruins continue to remind us of our human capacity both to destroy and to reach out to our enemies in friendship and reconciliation.

“The best undergraduate department of art history in the country”: This is how New York Times art critic John Russell once described the Art History program at NYU. The Department was established to provide a rigorous and wide-ranging education in the many facets of the history and theory of art, a mission that its faculty continues to enthusiastically embrace. Students become familiar with global art from antiquity to the present. The Department offers courses in Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Modern, Contemporary, East Asian, South Asian, Islamic, Latin American, African, Oceanic, Pre-Columbian, and Native American art, treating not only painting, sculpture, architecture, and photography but also graphic media, manuscript illumination, the decorative arts, and aspects of urban design. The Department is one of the few undergraduate programs in the country that also features extensive offerings in conservation and museology. The myriad museums, galleries, and local architectural sites make New York City the ideal place in which to study the visual arts on site, in the flesh. Beyond New York, art history courses are offered at the university’s various abroad sites, such as Berlin, Buenos Aires, Florence, London, Madrid, Paris, and Prague. The Department offers two undergraduate majors and minors, one in Art History and another in Urban Design and Architecture Studies (URDS). The specific course requirements are outlined in detail on the Department’s website. Since an education in the history of art can be enhanced by a firsthand understanding of its making, Art History majors also are allowed to minor in Studio Art through courses offered in the Steinhardt School. The Department publishes its own student journal (Ink & Image) and has an honors program, which culminates in the writing and oral defense of an honors thesis during the student’s senior year. Art History graduates have proven exceptionally successful in securing positions in museums, commercial galleries, auction houses, and nonprofit organizations. Those who go on to undertake graduate study typically pursue careers as curators, conservators, and academic art historians at the university and college level. Students majoring in URDS are well prepared for graduate study in architecture, urban planning, and historic preservation. From a young age In Brazil, I received an extensive music education. I studied piano and clarinet and had experience with orchestra and choir. I loved the connection with my teachers, fellow students, and the music itself. Consequently, I studied conducting at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. I decided to deepen my studies in Europe, focusing on early music and voice which led me to live and work in France and Germany for 11 years. I obtained the Diplome d Etudes Musicales at the conservatorium of Strasbourg (France) and a Master of Music from the University of Trossingen (Germany). My studies included vocal technique and interpretation, historically informed practice, harpsichord, and baroque theatre. I was fortunate to study, and work professionally as a vocal coach, choir conductor, and sang with leading European figures and groups, in the world of early music. In 2016, I returned to Brazil and worked on two important projects: Guri and Anima. Guri is a long-standing very influential institution in Sao Paulo, which offers free music education to disadvantaged children. Anima is a renowned musical group with 30 years of intensive research on the musical imagination of Brazil. I was invited as a soloist singer to record its last CD, Mar Anterior which establishes a dialogue between the Afro tradition of Candomble and Portuguese songs composed by the medieval King D. Dinis.

Welcome to The Nantwich Singers The Nantwich Singers is regarded as one of the finest chamber choirs in the northwest of England. Since its inception as The Tudor Consort in the early 1970s it has broadened its repertoire from the unaccompanied music of the 16th Century and now performs music from all eras and in all styles. The great masterpieces of the Renaissance are not forgotten but the choir is now equally at home in the classical era of Mozart and Schubert, the romantic world of Brahms and Rachmaninov, the rhythmic complexity of Walton and the jazz of Will Todd. Most performances are given in the medieval gem of St Mary’s Church in the centre of Nantwich, often referred to as the Cathedral of South Cheshire. But the choir also ventures further afield and has established a reputation deputising for church choirs around the country; including Bath and Tewkesbury Abbeys, and the cathedrals of Edinburgh, Manchester, Derby, Lichfield, Chester and Coventry among others. The choir comprises a flexible grouping of about 18 singers, some of whom are soloists in their own right. They perform regularly with orchestras and instrumental groups, as well as with organ or piano accompaniment, but at the heart of the choir is the enduring excitement of unaccompanied music, both sacred and secular.

I really wish all “classical” concerts were like this” Attila the Stockbroker on our Christmas concert in Worthing 2018 in The Morning Star The Telling attempts to break new ground, where new writing and music collide. We are also known for our special intimate performances of carols and performances of medieval and renaissance music. Our most recent show, I Spie (2021), starring Dominic Marsh, Danny Webb and Alice Imelda, toured the UK and was released on film. It tells the little known story of composer John Dowland and his brush with the Elizabethan secret service. Pre-pandemic, in 2019/20 we undertook 28 performances & 4 public workshops. We have performed at Buxton International Music Festival, Music at Oxford (3 performances) Little Missenden Festival, Brighton Early Music Festival (4 performances), Keele Concerts Society, Kingston Early Music, Totnes Early Music Society – and working with other groups including The Sixteen, we spearheaded our own Liverpool Early Music Festival. The Telling leads the way in delivering online workshops - delivering weekly singing sessions for over a year throughout the 2020/21 lockdowns which participants described as a “lifeline”: “I found myself in tears as I realised it was the first time in many years I'd actually been able to sing a carol” Workshop participant We record for First Hand Records: our first CD Gardens of Delight was selected for BBC Music Magazine playlist for April 2019 and our second CD Secret Life of Carols reached #25 in the Classical Charts in December 2019. Most notably, Vision by Clare Norburn, which follows the extraordinary medieval Abbess Hildegard of Bingen played by Teresa Banham (RSC/Shared Experience), was selected by The Guardian’s Tim Ashley as one of the Top 3 online summer music highlights alongside the Salzburg and Edinburgh Festivals. "Norburn and mezzo Ariane Prüssner are mesmerising in the music." The Guardian, Tim Ashley Love in the Lockdown also by Clare Norburn, starring Alec Newman & Rachael Stirling, is an online play with music, rehearsed and filmed entirely over Zoom or on actor & musicians' recording devices from their own homes. When Bob Gormley, our Head Tutor, was working on a Ph.D. in Philosophy at Cornell University, he needed access to a medieval manuscript in the Cambridge University Library. Since Cornell wanted him to stay in New York to teach their undergraduates, Bob was ironically forced to go on leave from his Ph.D. in an attempt to finish the degree. An American rather than a British citizen at the time, Bob had to start a business to support himself so that he could live in the UK. So, in 2005, Bob built on previous test prep teaching experience he'd had in New York to start S.T. Logic, which quickly became the most popular tutoring company in London for American standardized test prep. As a result, Bob never finished the Ph.D. dissertation, even though he wrote about 800 pages of it...in Latin. In addition to the Master's degree he earned at Cornell, he does have two more Master's degrees (with distinction from Columbia University and London Business School) to go along with his quadruple major summa cum laude -- four majors with highest honors -- from his undergrad at Wheaton College, a small liberal arts college in the US. In 2022, the company changed its name to UpGraded Tutoring and continues to offer the outstanding tuition for which S.T. Logic was known. My name is Jacek Robotka and I am an artist and blacksmith originally from Tarnobrzeg, Poland. I am proficient in many different aspects of manufacturing crafts, from metalworking through to saddlery and woodcarving to antler craft, a skill that is ever rarer in our present times. Before I moved to Great Britain, I received a comprehensive education: I first trained at a trade school as a locksmith-mechanic, then at an automotive technical college, before earning a degree in Archaeology at the University of Lodz. In trade school I attended blacksmithing lessons, where my lifelong passion for metal crafting was born. I am always deepening my knowledge by looking for more information about historical metallurgy, survival, hunting, martial arts, fencing weapons and firearms, and their tactical use. My first artistic creations were made in a simple garage workshop over a decade and a half ago. Since then, my experience has been steadily growing and I have created many items which brought joy to enthusiasts of unique hand crafting. Some of these, including a number of knives and leather goods, are for modern use, but I have also crafted an impressive number of items recreated from historical finds like swords, seaxes and jewellery. My wide range of abilities makes me a hugely valuable specialist in the area of crafting unique and high-quality items; I am experienced in blacksmithing, metallurgy, welding, leather-, wood-, antler- and bone crafting, and also possess knowledge of blacksmithing, locksmithing and casting techniques as well as medieval item crafting techniques.

Currently a Post graduate Researcher at the University of Leeds, researching the most efficient methods of mordanting fibres with the environment and sustainability in mind, Debbie is also an Associate of the Society of Dyers and Colourists*. Her brand, The Mulberry Dyer, was established in the early 1990’s following the completion of the City and Guilds Art and Design – Embroidery course, with a view to producing naturally dyed embroidery silks, which at that time were unavailable. Meticulous research into dyes and methods used in the 17th century resulted in the accurate reproduction of these silks. This research was then expanded to cover all periods in history and for other fibres. Examples of work can be found in the V & A Museum, Hampton Court Palace, the Globe Theatre and other Museums and Historic Houses across the UK and Europe. A specialist in the dyestuff madder, she runs courses and masterclasses and is the first dyer for many decades to successfully reproduce the Turkey Red process in Europe. Research and experimentation continue for both historical and Industrial purposes, she is currently a Post Graduate Researcher at the University of Leeds. Environmental impacts of natural dyes and mordants, colourfastness (light, wash and rub) are key to current research. For several years a consultant to Industrial Organisations wishing to add naturally dyed products to their range. A contributor to the Encyclopaedia of Medieval Dress and Textiles c450 – 1450** and with several articles published in The Journal (for Weavers, Spinners and Dyers) a book is the next step.
