Dr Steve MacGillivray is an experienced Health Services Researcher and Systematic Reviewer with a background in Psychology and a PhD in Health Services Research obtained within the Medical School University of Dundee. In the past he has worked in Departments of Psychiatry, Epidemiology and Public Health, Mother and Child Health and currently he works part-time as an Associate Professor in a School of Health Sciences. He has particular expertise in conducting meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials (particularly Cochrane Reviews), meta-syntheses of qualitative studies and rapid evidence reviews for policy. In his career he has led international teams to conduct systematic reviews across a wide range of topics. He has been successful in collaborating with local, national and international partners to receive research funding of over £6 million to support research activity. In his academic career he has secured research funding from the following bodies: World Health Organisation (WHO); UK Government; Scottish Government; Department of Health Policy Research; Department for International Development (DfID); Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC); National Institute for Health Research (NIHR); National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE); Chief Scientist Office (CSO); Scottish Funding Council (SFC); National Health Service (NHS); NHS Quality Improvement Scotland; Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC); NHS Education for Scotland. Our Mission With safeguarding at the heart of all we do, DeafKidz International aims to respond comprehensively to the protection, health, wellbeing and access to education needs of deaf children, young people and adults worldwide. Why our work is needed Deafness is the third largest disability globally with 466 million deaf people worldwide yet it remains the least resourced. The abuse and exploitation of deaf children is endemic, with deaf children three times more likely to be abused than hearing children, but safeguarding and protection networks lack the means to support deaf survivors/victims of abuse and deaf children at risk. Deaf children face barriers to accessing services and support from teachers, social workers, police workers, medical staff and the justice system, often due to the lack of deaf awareness and resources available to these professionals who are unable to effectively communicate with or support the needs of deaf children. In low-middle income countries often children are not even diagnosed as being deaf which exacerbates risk of abuse and prevents them from accessing vital support they need. DeafKidz International seeks to address the vital gaps in meeting the safeguarding and protection needs of deaf children and reducing risk and vulnerability while supporting deaf children, young people and adults to lead their fullest lives ensuring equal and rightful access to health, education and employment as their hearing peers.

I am a qualified Grade A ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) and, although it is not mandatory for me to be a qualified instructor I feel that the knowledge I have gained whilst training to be an ADI will greatly benefit my customers, I also hold a C+E (Class 1) HGV licence. I have owned horses for over 30 years and ran a successful horse transport business, transporting all types of horses and ponies across the country. Customers who undertake a towing course with Driver Training will benefit from being able to do their training in a comfortable car which has all the modern conveniences (heated seat, air-con, etc.), whilst towing an Ifor Williams 510 trailer which will replicate a vehicle of similar size if they are transporting horses or want to tow a caravan. If you are wanting to become a paramedic, ambulance technician or drive ambulances over 3.5 tonnes you will need a C1 category on your license ( if you passed your driving test after January 1998 you will need to do an additional test). Also horseboxes between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes require this license and motorhomes and large vans. Driver Training run courses which cover all your training including the 3a (reversing) and 3b (on road drive) tests, advice is also available for D2, medical (D4), and theory tests. Based in Chesterfield we also cover Sheffield, Nottingham and surrounding areas. Our C1 Training and test is carried out in an Iveco Daily 7 tonne van and all C1 courses include both the 3a and 3b test fees. Liz Driver

We currently work to support secondary schools, colleges, private care organisations and pupil referral units and offer both an academic and vocational programme of activities for young people not accessing mainstream education for whatever reason. We can offer students up to a three day programme or a combination of days (up to a maximum of 18 hours per week) to suit your requirements. We can also cater for small groups (4-6 students) and can offer a bespoke programme of activities on either a short term or long term basis. Students can be placed 'on and off' the programme as required and can start the programme as soon as we receive a completed referral and consent/medical form. We liaise closely with the referral agency and the parents/guardian regarding attendance, behaviour and achievement throughout the students placement at A.C.E. and provide daily attendance registers to each referral agency. Student trackers and reports are sent termly and are also available on request by other professionals involved with a young person placed with us. Alternative Curriculum Education was founded over 20 years ago in 2000 by the Directors Marie Carrick & Leslie Carrick. Since then they have built up a team of reputable Tutors and Support Workers and helped over 1000 students achieve the grades they require to secure places at college and thus advance their learning. The centre was awarded the Alternative Education Probation Certificate from Cambridgeshire County Council in January 2020 as well as various other awards over the years.
