Your first step when trying to figure out a solution to a behaviour problem may be to talk to your Vet. Your Vet may refer you directly to PivotalChange.ca or they may suggest you go to a Veterinarian Psychiatrist. While we are recognized by the Complementary Medical Association (CMA) as a Canine Psychologist, it can be confusing. What is the difference? A Veterinarian Behaviourist/Psychiatrist has significantly more years in animal education, medical training and must have graduated from a Veterinary College. A potential alternative to a Veterinarian Psychiatrist is seeking a highly educated, Canine Psychologist and a Canine Behaviourist like myself. In addition to the CMA, I am accredited by the International School for Canine Psychology & Behaviour. I am also an IAABC Certified Dog Behaviour Consultant. The IAABC is an international body who has reviewed by work and recognizes those with the highest education and experience in their field. Our programs take advantage of an advanced education and experience in Strategic & Systems Thinking, and over 30 years applying current neuroscience, psychology & change science to human beings. We surround you and your dog with a team of professionally trained psychology-based behaviour specialists, with my end-to-end oversight of the behaviour progress. After his degree, he worked as a teacher of Science in Blackheath Bluecoat C of E School, also became deputy of the department. Dr Ajeleti undertook his teacher training at Canterbury Christ Church University, obtaining Qualified Teacher Status. He received the grade ‘outstanding’ for his role as a teacher, and this was recognised by Ofsted. During this time, he was still determined to pursue a career in medicine, graduating from the Medical University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland. Dr Ajeleti graduated at the top of his class and is currently training in the London Deanery. Raised in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Dr Ajeleti has made it his duty to encourage young people to get involved in medicine and other healthcare professions. As the co-founder of Modern Day medics, he aims to help prospective medical students from BME backgrounds to reach their full potential. He was also a recipient of the Beany scholarship for the best final year OSCE result. In 2012, he was recognised as a one of the top 100 future leaders and at University, he sat on a number of society committees as well as co-founding Inspire the youth CIC. After medical school, he undertook his foundation training in Trent deanery and core medical training in South London. During his junior doctor training, he served as a regional representative for foundation doctors and he was a clinical guidance associate at one of his local hospitals. He is currently a gastroenterology trainee in Kent, Surrey & Sussex deanery where he sits on the board for the culture and leadership change team. He is extremely passionate about seeing young people achieve their potential and dreams and with Modern Day Medics, he plans to achieve this.

Scalpel is the University of Manchester’s Surgical Society and a partner of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. As a society, we aim to create and foster an interest in surgery for medical students through regular lectures, workshops, and our highly-regarded annual conference. Scalpel was originally formed in 2001, but it was not until 2006 that a core group of Manchester medical students re-formed the society under guidance from the Royal College of Surgeons, creating Scalpel as we know it today. Since this re-invention, Scalpel has gone from strength to strength to become the great society it is today with over 600 members. As an undergraduate surgical society, Scalpel has three key aims: To organise events that showcase surgery and all of its specialties, To excite and enthuse students about surgery, To provide students who are interested in surgery with relevant careers information and advice. We hope to achieve these aims by organising talks and workshops delivered by charismatic surgeons from each and every surgical specialty. We want to get students excited about surgery early in their medical training on so that they can start to truly consider whether surgery is for them. With competition for surgical jobs becoming more and more fierce, students are being forced to consider their career options earlier than ever before. Students hoping for a career in surgery, therefore, must start to think about how to make themselves more competitive. Scalpel hopes to help these students by organising surgical careers events and by providing students with surgical role models. Scalpel also seeks to encourage students from minorities into surgery, whether those minorities are ethnic, gender, or otherwise, by inviting role models from all walks of life as speakers at our events. Women in Surgery (WinS) events are a frequent feature of Scalpel’s events calendar, and a diverse range of speakers ensures the calendar remains of a high calibre and continues to be interesting and relevant. In 2009 Scalpel held their first ever national conference providing delegates with the opportunity to present their case reports and original research to an audience of esteemed clinicians and students. The conference proved to be a resounding success and it has now become a major annual event attended by medical students from all across the UK and beyond.
