Edge of Play, formed in late 2017, is an online coaching resource, providing football coaches with hundreds of football coaching videos from the grassroots and professional game. Our website is subscription based and features videos from grassroots coaches, elite level clubs, academies and professional players all sharing exciting ideas and insights. The site allows you to link in with your social media profiles to share content with peers, clubs and players. Our vision is to build a global, inclusive, online community of coaches: learning, interacting and creating, together. It is through our work with our clubs, that we have become acutely aware of the challenges facing amateur, semi-pro and even professional coaches. We know that in coaching (like most other jobs) people are always looking for new content to ensure their players remain in love with the game; to keep them engaged, learning, developing, and most importantly having fun. However, we are also aware that not everyone has the same circumstances, opportunities, or environment in which to coach. Therefore we are to provide the best service for the lowest cost! Whether you are a professional, academy or grassroots coach, or simply a mum or dad wanting to practice with your son or daughter in the back garden, Edge of Play will provide the same inclusive experience. WHO WE ARE We are lifelong friends and FA qualified coaches: Jack Norbury and James Stokes. Football coaching is our passion and we want to share this with the largest possible audience with an aim to support, guide and promote sports coaching all around the world. Alongside our extensive years of coaching, our careers covered roles in teaching and IT which gave us the perfect skill set to provide an online coaching resource.

Our success and popularity as a college are built upon our commitment to providing our students with the best possible learning environment and highest possible standards of support and guidance. We are proud of the excellent relationships that exist between staff and students and our purposeful, lively and friendly atmosphere. Since opening, the College has been a popular choice for students and has continued to expand. There are approximately 2000 students on roll with a significant proportion travelling to Darlington from County Durham, Teesside and North Yorkshire. We also enrol a significant number from independent schools. The majority of our students have a full A Level Study Programme and the academic work of the College is of a high standard with an excellent record of examination success across the curriculum. In 2021 our A Level pass rate was an outstanding 100% with a high grade rate of over 64%. Over recent years, we have invested more than £7 million in our buildings and facilities at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College. Developments include an expanded and refurbished library, open access learning areas, Apple equipped Media and Art Graphics suites, state of the art science facilities, a fully equipped performance studio and purpose built progress tutor group spaces. There was also an extension completed to the student common room which included a Costa Coffee outlet. We’ve also done a lot of work to preserve and enhance our iconic Victorian frontage. Since 2003 I have worked closely with more than 200 progressive business owners, held 7000+ face-to-face strategic coaching/mentoring sessions and led hundreds of workshops for business owners, managers and teams. Heavy metal therapy is an online resource and community of people who find metal music helpful for mental well being. It is a place to find and share experiences of how metal has helped us, the meaning we take from songs or lyrics, and play lists that we have found useful. It is for everyone, so we don’t judge each others metal preferences. If you would like to share your own recovery story about how metal has helped you please contact us, we can make stories anonymous if you prefer. We continue to develop a few shared playlists under heavy metal therapy, which can be expanding and changing. We like people to share their own music or art if it comes with a reason/message to do with mental health. We may be a small and select group, but we are open to suggestions of expanding. Hopefully over time this will become led by and shaped by those who use it, so it’s not set in stone, it can grow and change. See this video for a bit more about us. We are a registered Community Interest Company (more here) Quick disclaimer: we know it’s called heavy metal therapy, but we are not claiming to be a substitute for psychological therapy, we are a self-help and peer support community. If you feel you need support from mental health services please seek it through appropriate channels (in the UK this is usually via your GP). Also, all things metal tend to be quite sweary and have dark themes, so there’s quite a bit of that in the stories and playlists.

SALT South West is a Plymouth-based Christian voluntary organisation ( known as SAIFLINE until 2006), offering direct help to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. SALT is a member agency of The Survivors’ Trust and our Co-ordinator is a member of TAG (Trauma and Abuse Group). We are accountable to our Management Committee of five and have a Council of Reference which includes an MP, a Bishop, another Minister of Religion and a media presenter. We are currently a team of ten members, two of whom are counselling students and three of whom are currently paid part-time (Team Coordinator, Assistant Coordinator and Administrator). Our volunteer listeners have all undertaken the in-house SALT training, some have various counselling qualifications including specific sexual abuse/trauma related subjects. Some members of our team are survivors and bring with them personal experience and knowledge. Supervision is fundamental to our work and each listener receives a minimum of one and a half hours every four weeks. We are a close team and there is always the opportunity to share and offload inbetween when necessary. (Which is often the case in our field of work). Our Annual Away Day gives us a chance to meet outside of work to share, explore and be refreshed as people, not just as co-workers. Behind the scenes, our 60 prayer partners have the important role of supporting us and we meet together once a year. SALT works with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, age 16 and above. Everyone is received by us regardless of background, belief or behaviour. Our services are free of charge but donations are always welcomed. We do not want anyone to be excluded from receiving good quality psychological help.
