The Arienas Collective is a creative workshop hub based in a beautiful, Georgian mews home in Edinburgh's historic New Town. The Collective was set up to help local artists and makers earn a living through sharing their creative skills and passions with others. Its name comes from Loch Arienas, a beautiful and remote spot in the Morvern area of the Scottish Highlands. We believe that engaging in creative activity is good for our health and wellbeing. Our workshops suit beginners, returners and those who want to challenge their own creative practice. Group sizes are kept small, so that our artists and makers can give you the help and support you need to get the most from your experience. Join us to release your inner creative and you will leave having learned new skills, made new friends, and with a finished piece we hope you will feel proud of. I am an abstract artist living in Edinburgh, UK, and I work in mixed media, including acrylics and collaging techniques. Creating exhilarating and compelling paintings is what I strive for, by manipulating different materials and media. I usually begin my process by adding loose layers, building up textures and color, while being directed by gestural marks that I react to. A new body of work often appears when a certain color, a piece of collage or something else such as a visual prompt, has stirred up inspiration. It is important to me to let the work develop organically and let it lead the way. I especially enjoy the beginning stages of playful movement, and activating the canvas with impulsive mark-making, often a graphite pen or big splashes of color. Sometimes I begin with collaging, creating textures and patterns before even a drop of paint has hit the surface. From there, the painting starts to take a direction of its own. Using stimulating tools, anything from brushes and pens to scrapers, scratching tools and even sandpaper on the surface, the piece starts to form..

Kaisa is a self-taught mixed media artist based in Edinburgh. She will will be there to guide you on the evening and demonstrate how to use different tools and techniques. You can then use these skills and tools to create your own unique piece of artwork.  The tools include the usual brushes, as well as fun items such as pallette knives, monoprinting techniques, wax pastels… And other things you’ve probably never tried before in painting, such as wall paper scrapers, cooking spatulas and squeeges. A fun night in good company guaranteed.

Vox Stars is an inclusive learning environment. Therefore, Lainey aims to help  students of various learner styles and abilities. She also strives to build learner strategies for those with special educational needs such as dyslexia. Lessons will enable you to have fun, fall in love with the vocal instrument and help you reach for the stars!    Vox Stars also offer 5 star rated workshops , they focus on a variety of exhilarating themes from Disney to Pop stars. Event days include a room draped in themed decor, action packed singing and dancing activities to brilliant music, fun drama and performance explorations, exciting games and themed crafts. To make the day extra awesome we provide prizes and party bags, refreshments and snacks, and area for parents to relax with hot drinks and nibbles. Currently working and living in Milan, Italy, Robert Marjoribanks’ work finds inspiration and a great attachment to space and identity, spirituality and pragmantism. New perspectives and varied visual information are combined to explore possible narratives which may be overlooked or ignored as opportunities to make art which often talks of the relationships we have with our own and others culture and living spaces. Trained as a printmaker at Gray’s School of Art he was increasingly interested in the physicality of the print process. This intrigue pushed and pulled him into a more sculptural way of working. Taking into consideration the appropriate materials to use he often works with cast or found objects placed into a relationship with printed media and the environment they are found in. After being awarded his bachelor’s degree he went on to become the workshop assistant at the Edinburgh Printmakers in his hometown. After a year working with an artist residency program helping to curate and working with artists in Shanghai he has lived and worked in Treviso and now Milan, Italy.
