James Gregory is the Founder & CEO of the Manchester-based Charity, Families Against Violence (FAM). The Charity has its origins in a tragic event over 13 years ago when the Founder’s son was shot dead in a case of mistaken identity in a gangland act of revenge. James personally experienced the lack of support for Black families in such tragic circumstances and resolved to do something about it. He founded Families Against Violence, a charity supporting principally Black and ethnic minority families in the Moss Side area with the over-arching aim of helping to prevent young people getting sucked into anti-social behaviour, criminal activity, gangs and violence. FAM works with hundreds of children and young people each week. The Charity uses sport, principally football, to engage with children and young people. Trained and experienced coaches can then mentor and become role models, helping sometimes hard-to-reach young people find pathways into training and employment and to have better life-chances. Separate from his role with FAM, James is the CEO of AAM. In both of these roles, and working with a network of experienced and inspirational coaches and trainers, he: – I. Networks with local and regional stakeholders, including in the criminal justice system; II. Acts as an advocate for addressing social injustices, particularly for Black and Ethnic Minority Communities; III. Plans, organises and runs sports events and activities for young people; IV. Plans and organises training events for young people; V. Manages a network of local sports coaches; and VI. Mentors young people. To support his role, James is a certified football coach and has obtained qualifications in ‘Working with Gangs’ and ‘Training the Trainer’, both from Birmingham University. He also has earned a mentoring Diploma from Manchester Metropolitan University. Feeding into his role with FAM, James spent 12 months as a Youth Worker for User Voice, an organisation that gives a voice to people in the criminal justice system. In that job he worked with young offenders in prisons help manage their reintegration into society.

PLEASE NOTE: We try to offer visitors a variety of crafts, therefore we have to limit the number of stalls per craft so your booking may not be accepted. We have a limited number of tables available for hire at £5 per table. Cost = £25 per stall (£30 November and December). Table hire is £5 per table. Lane End Village Hall, Lane End: We will supply you with a 6ft table and chair(s). Cost = £30 per stall. Payments: 1 Market - If you are only booking one market, you will be invoiced in full, payable within 3 working days of the invoice date, your booking is not secure untill payment is recieved. More than one market - If you are booking more than one market, you will be invoiced for the full amount of your first market at each location and a £5 non-refundable deposit for the additional markets. The balance on the additional markets will be invoiced 1 month prior to the date of the market. NOTE: you are still at risk of loosing your booking if the balance is not paid within 3 days of invoice date.

If you got a call from a TV producer asking you to appear on Newsnight, would you say ‘yes’? And if you did, could you make your argument in a way that captured the attention of the audience without being interrupted? Our media training courses are aimed at senior spokespeople and experts who give interviews on TV, radio or in print. We equip them with the skills and confidence to take control and give engaging, memorable and effective performances in which they deliver their key messages, no matter what the circumstances. Highly interactive and practical, each course includes a series of realistic print, radio and television exercises with experienced journalists. We provide immediate feedback following each interview, including techniques for improvement, advice about potential answers and the framing of key messages. While all our media training courses are bespoke, on a typical course we will cover: how the media operates how to prepare for interviews the differences between TV, radio and print interviews how to conduct different types of interview, such as pro-active, reactive, expert commentator and hostile (crisis communications) developing key messages which convey your views persuasively how to take control of an interview, stick to your own agenda and deliver key messages successfully use of language, body language, dress and delivery After the course, each delegate receives the Rough House Media Toolkit, including written feedback, recorded copies of their interview exercises, the Rough House Media Guide to Interviews and further supporting materials. We also provide a confidential assessment to the PR team of each delegate’s suitability for different types of interview. Venue We deliver courses in the most appropriate format for your circumstances – whether face to face or online. Face to face courses are portable: they can be held in purpose-built studios, at your own offices or at an external venue. In the latter two cases, we create a mock studio for the practical exercises. Online courses give you flexibility and enable you to offer training to delegates from all over the world. We have run virtual courses for people from the Far East, South Asia, North America and Europe, as well as the UK.
