The Education Concierge was founded by Gabrielle Villani BA (Hons), B ED (Distinction), MA Media (Distinction), MA Literacy Development, FCollT, whose skills and expertise in educational management and independent school education span pre-preparatory (early years), preparatory (primary) and secondary schooling in both the UK and abroad. Gabrielle founded The Education Concierge in 2013 and directed this prior to joining Salamanca Group as Head of Education Services for five years. During this time, she merged her education background with experience of private client services and worked alongside family offices and private client advisors to find the most appropriate and reputable schools, university courses and careers experiences for families. In her role as a school manager of a London independent school, Gabrielle experienced first-hand the need for parents to receive impartial, trusted advice and personal attention with their child’s education. With 20 years’ experience in nurturing the academic development of children aged 3 to 17 years, Gabrielle has expert knowledge of how children learn and how to cater to their educational needs. She understands that a child’s future is shaped by the quality of education he or she receives. Supporting families with educational choices and planning ‘next steps’ in a child’s education, are two essential skills that Gabrielle brings to helping families. Gabrielle understands that in a global economy, and in senior positions of business; families are often required to move in a moment’s notice. Making a transition to the right educational ‘home’ can be complex. With this in mind, she established The Education Concierge to ease the transition process and provide families with insights and solutions for enhancing their child’s education.

Like many people, I was driven from a young age by a need for success, approval and security. It’s one of the reasons that I went to Cambridge to study natural sciences. My career in law was another way to achieve these aspirations. My law career was successful. I enjoyed it, for a time. I became an equity partner and the head of intellectual property and technology. I was on the board of a global top 20 law firm in London. It took me falling ill with heart disease at 37 to realise that I wasn’t working towards my true purpose. My illness was shocking. How could I, an athletic young woman, get this disease more common in older men? It made me question my identity. I began a process of training, self-discovery and learning that took me all over the world. I learned from some of the greatest teachers in coaching and self-transformation today. I realised that my thought processes and my attitude to work were not healthy. There were also many aspects of my work environment that were toxic for me. I couldn’t continue living a life that I didn’t believe in. It was time to make a significant change. I created Rachel Boothroyd Training and Coaching because I wanted to help people and businesses flourish in a sustainable, healthy way. I wanted to provide experiential training, to create motivated and engaged people, who would go on to achieve greater things for themselves and the businesses they worked for. Who could do this in a sustainable way, in workplaces with healthy cultures, with open communication, purpose and, yes, even fun. I am a heart ambassador for the British Heart Foundation and speak at events and in the media to raise heart health awareness.

Our success and popularity as a college are built upon our commitment to providing our students with the best possible learning environment and highest possible standards of support and guidance. Since opening, the College has been a popular choice for students and has continued to expand. There are approximately 2000 students on roll with a significant proportion travelling to Darlington from County Durham, Teesside and North Yorkshire. The majority of our students have a full A Level Study Programme and the academic work of the College is of a high standard with an excellent record of examination success across the curriculum. In 2021 our A Level pass rate was an outstanding 100% with a high grade rate of over 64%. Over recent years, we have invested more than £7 million in our buildings and facilities at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College. Another, I grew from just an idea to attracting a number of investors and selling its world-first technology product into 55 countries. Others were in financial services, publishing, IT, distribution, an ISP and more. My wealth of ‘real world’ experience along with a corporate management background in banking, financial services, media and food distribution give me a unique advantage when it comes to understanding the challenges facing business owners in today’s competitive world. Since 2003 I have worked closely with more than 200 progressive business owners, held 7000+ face-to-face strategic coaching/mentoring sessions and led hundreds of workshops for business owners, managers and teams. I am one of NZ’s most experienced strategic business coaches and NZ’s only business coach trainer. I am incredibly grateful to my fellow governors for voluntarily devoting so much of their time and effort to the school community. Our governing body comprises elected representatives from the local authority, staff, parents and members of the community and the combined experience, skills and knowledge is vast. The job description for governors is clear, set the strategic direction of the school, hold school leaders to account for improvement and ensuring that the school budget is spent appropriately. As such, much of our time is spent working with Mrs Johnson and the senior leadership team to continually review and refine the quality of our provision through our subcommittee meetings. Our mission is to build capacity within the community education sector. We aim to: Grow our consortium of supplementary schools across the Greater Manchester area. Share teaching, research, capital and human resources across the consortium. Focus on teaching core curriculum subjects (English, Maths and Sciences). Use digital, creative education and training as well as heritage studies as media for teaching core curriculum subjects. Provide high quality, academically relevant extra-curricular enrichment activities across the consortium. Support volunteer teachers across the consortium with their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Initial Teacher Training (ITT). Support CPD and ITT with high quality community-led research Form partnerships with educational, cultural and social providers to continually strengthening our educational provision within the communities we serve.
