In 2020 Christian/Chrisdave gave up being a chef and in Lockdown set out on a journey to discover as many edible, interesting and medicinal plants, herbs, fruit and fungi. Within in Months he had created a small community of clients and followers and decided to start a career in sustainable foraging. With the help of the Enterprise Allowance Scheme for start up business, Urban Forage was formed with the aim to be Brightons Best Wild Food supplier, Forage guide and Forage Consultancy. After launching in 2021 we now have a portfolio of hand-picked clients, regular Wood and Sea workshops and seasonal Fungi and Wild Plant workshops throughout the year. We made our First Festival appearance and advised on local environmental issues and projects. In April 2021 we moved into our Woodland Workshop in The Stanmer Craft Museum, where you can find demonstrations, forage workshops, hand crafted forage goods, fungi and a Crazy Foraging Guru who is always happy to stop and chat or give tips and locations. In 2022 we already have over 50 dates planned over 10 workshops with new dates added weekly, and plan to launch more Foraged food and continue to grow our social media platforms, where you can find tutorials, Id guides and charming forage content.

I'm Manus McGrogan, a highly experienced, prize winning, freelance portrait artist. I'm also a writer and teacher, originally from Belfast, now living in Brighton & Hove. My artwork is centred on the human face and figure in varying contexts, and draws on strong technique in line, tone and colour. The styles in my work are broadly realistic (portraiture, life drawing), poster-style (icons and album art), and I love to dabble in surrealist and science fiction imagery. I use a number of media, including graphite pencil, coloured pencils, pastel pencils, pastels, pens, watercolour and acrylic paints.

I am a practising and exhibiting textile artist who makes work focussing on memory, identity, loss and absence, using a variety of mixed media techniques alongside adapting traditional patchwork and embroidery processes for contemporary work. I have also been teaching textiles for many years, and enjoy developing the design aspect of projects with students, as well as teaching the more practical stitching and colouring skills. I have delivered City & Guilds to Diploma (the old Part 2) level in both Embroidery and Patchwork & Quilting. 2015 saw me complete my Masters with Distinction as well as having a gallery at Festival of Quilts. Then in 2016 I was part of the very successful unFOLD exhibition at the Knitting & Stitching Shows at Alexandra Palace and Harrogate International Centre. We repeated that experience with The Button Box exhibition at Festival of Quilts 2018. In 2019 I successfully entered work into the Vlieseline Fine Arts Textile Award at FOQ and then worked with unFOLD members to produce a group piece which was accepted into the Janome Fine Art Textiles Award in 2021. The Covid pandemic and lockdown saw me presenting one of the Community Stitch challenges for TextileArtist.org online, to 18,000 members of the community. This was a very exciting opportunity which coincided with the development of my new online courses. With a few external teaching commitments left for 2022, I have decided to concentrate on courses in Eastbourne for 2023 to enable me to get more stitching done. Drawing performance is a stream of performance art in which artists create their artwork in front of a live audience while communicating with the viewers. Drawing Performance is often multi-disciplinary, combining dance, video, photography and sound. It utilises multi-media too, allowing artists a full rein of expression for their ideas.  Headed by artist Ram Samocha, Draw to Perform is an international community for Drawing Performance. Since 2013 Draw to Perform organizing international symposiums and festivals, work with and support emerging and established artists, hold various events, collaborations with art institutions, and run educational residencies and workshops.  Ram Samocha Ram Samocha is an artist and curator, presently resides in Brighton, UK. Moving frequently between counties and cities made finding and making connections with like-minded artists difficult. Ram’s solution was to set up the Draw to Perform Company, a platform for artists to gather, collaborate, share and exchange ideas around performative drawing.

Tricia Johnson is an artist working across an extensive variety of arts disciplines. She studied Art & Design in the Midlands before moving to the Sussex coast and gaining a B.A. (Hons) Degree. She then went on to achieve various teaching qualifications. She enjoys the challenge and exploration found in absorbing new methods and processes. This has enabled her over the past 20 years to teach a wide variety of art courses across West Sussex. Her sculpture work featured nationally on ITV’s morning programme and exhibitions include West Dean College and Worthing Museum and Art Gallery, West Sussex. She also had the privilege of exhibiting her work in the Awagami International Miniature Print Exhibition, Tokushima, Japan. Along with exhibitions at; Banks Mill Studios Derby, The Art House Wakefield, neo: Gallery Bolton, Gallery@OXO Oxo Tower Wharf South Bank London, Hong Kong Baptist University Hong Kong and Cube gallery Moscow. After a period focusing on other disciplines, Tricia returned to printmaking and the joy of the process is what pushes her work forward creatively. Learning different printing methods has helped her to begin experimenting with distinctive approaches to her prints and printing style. Tricia continues to enjoy drawing and working painterly with a variety of mixed media, developing her own instinctive style over many other art disciplines.

Working with local authorities, the police, and associate groups, APA aims to assist the crackdown on wildlife crime. A team of scientists, vets and environmental lawyers contribute greatly to the efforts of APA in curbing the activities of wildlife dealers. APA harnesses the power of the media to publicise the cruelty, destructiveness and corruption associated with the wildlife trade. Many people are unaware that the UK is a major consumer of exotic animals. We produce educational and campaign literature and rely on a national network of APA volunteers to help us distribute information. This raises awareness of the suffering endured by wild animals in captivity and hopefully discourages people from purchasing exotic pets.
