MANHOOD ACADEMY on a GLOBAL mission

London

Holistically, we also support family sessions alongside the children, in parallel workshops called The Parenthood Academy: Self development for parents, as well as exploring strategies on progressive parenting for the millennials. The multi award-winning Manhood Academy for Boys was birthed by 8 men who shared a single vision. Following a trip to Gambia by 4 of the co-founders of Manhood Academy, in February 2016 a community call out brought them together in the same room, meeting at an Ethiopian restaurant in South London. At the end of the round table meeting they unanimously chose to “Be the change we wish to see in the world” by collectively establishing The Manhood Academy. Each founder previously holding a distinguished track record in youth work, from a BAFA award winning senior educator to working on the streets of London with urban youth. The Manhood Academy officially launched to the community at Park View Academy, London on October 15th, 2016.A curriculum was co-designed from the collective wealth of experience of the founders, and the nameManhood Academy, Womanhood Academy & Parenthood Academy were coined. Established under the umbrella (CIC) community interest company name: Lifehood Academy on 15 May 2017. The Manhood Academy program was implemented with the intention of exposing our young people to character building experiences, tests and master classes. All geared towards shifting young people’s paradigm, from the chronic news headlines, school disenfranchisement and stereotypes some of our young people manifest as a self-fulfilling prophecy. Bringing about a new and empowering context, supporting the our youth to take responsibility for decisions that will set the course for a positive future.

Cheltenham Youth Theatre

Inspiring the next generation of theatre-makers. At CYT, we push tradition to one side and are renowned for making fresh, exciting, memorable physical theatre that truly celebrates the vibrant energy of our young people. We devise our own work and aim to break the mould in young people's theatre. We strongly believe that theatre is as much about the finished show, as the process it takes to get there. It's the friends you make, the challenges you overcome together, the voice you find, the creativity, passion and commitment. It's the memories that will stay with you forever and a way of working that will positively shape your future, in whichever direction you are headed. We are not your average stage school. Our theatre aims to thought-provoke and joy-evoke, exploring issues and themes relevant to young people today. Social and emotional development is at the very heart of our work, always striving to uplift, empower and inspire our performers and audiences. We have proudly taken part in National Theatre Connections eight times, performing vibrant new work at Parabola Arts Centre, Bristol Old Vic, Theatre Royal Bath and Royal & Derngate. To date, we have also performed at The Bacon Theatre's Open-Air Theatre Festival, The Wilson Art Gallery, Cheltenham Science Festival, Bristol Shakespeare Festival, the Brewery Quarter, JOLT International Theatre Festival and the Montpelier Fiesta! Not to mention enduring a Zombie Apocalypse and following the yellow brick road to Emerald City, and that's just for starters... CYT is a safe platform to express & discover who you want to be. We believe the arts should be enjoyable & accessible for all and pride ourselves on getting to know each young person individually, to nurture their ideas, talents and strengths. CYT is directed by Caroline Dean, Sam Harrison and a hub of associate theatre professionals who offer specialist master classes throughout the year.

It is commonly considered that it takes ages to learn playing an instrument. The Masters Music School is here to help. We believe that by sharing our methods of practising and learning (and this is what we do every day) we will enable you to progress faster than you could even imagine! It’s not only about how much we practise, but it’s also about HOW we practise. Want to know our tips, tricks and techniques? Learning and performance psychology Our tutors have received advanced teacher training covering aspects of psychology, methodology and how to manage performance anxiety. This makes them able to take a problem-solving approach in lessons and makes the teaching/learning process effective and gratifying. There’s certainly nothing more motivating for the student than progressing quickly. There’s also nothing more motivating for us than seeing you gaining the confidence and developing your skills and potential! Technique as a key to sucess Understanding the energy transformations and physical processes that occur to one’s body while performing is a key-point in teaching the instrumental technique. No matter if our students play for pleasure or if they want to achieve some professional goals, they need to be given tools which will enable them to fully express their personality and create their own interpretation. As learning the technique is similar to learning the language (learning HOW TO SPEAK), our method puts a strong emphasis on preparing some tools that let the music exist- the quality of sound and technique are strongly prioritised from the first lesson. Innovative and flexible lesson content Fed up with studios offering standard and boring lesson content? No problem. We tailor our lessons for your needs in terms of repertoire and approach, whether you want to perform for yourself, for your friends, at a party or in the concert hall. As well as offering classical tuition (including preparing for graded exams), we enjoy teaching a range of styles and approaches to performance. Want to improvise? Want to play your favourite song by ear? Want to compose your own piece? Just let us know. The crazier the ideas that you have the more fun we will have during the lesson!
