Cambridge

Your People Potential first came to life in 2013 as Namasté Culture. Set up by former HR consultant Jacqui Kemp, the company delivers training and coaching programmes to support the wellbeing of your people and bring a positive culture to your business. In July 2017, after discovering that our name had connotations of being ‘pink and fluffy’, we worked with Collette from Brand By Me and rebranded to become Your People Potential. Jacqui works with organisations to identify their strategic health and wellbeing goals aligning with the core values of the business. Working with HR professionals and senior business leaders Jacqui develops programmes of training to address skills shortages, whether it is enabling managers to effectively identify and address concerns around mental health and wellbeing, or helping individuals and teams to build resilience, Jacqui always provides a calm, compassionate and respectful approach to the needs of the business and the individuals. Typically working with highly technical SMEs in the IT, biotech, pharmaceutical and academic fields, Jacqui merges her skills from the worlds of HR and therapy to offer a pragmatic approach to supporting good mental health and wellbeing. Based in Cambridge, Jacqui offers support online or in-person to businesses across the UK. We don’t do yoga, head massage or chanting. We’re in the serious business of helping businesses to thrive by delivering evidence-based training that’s grounded in science, we’re here to maximise your people potential.

It was never going to be a straight forward journey and many things had to happen to get to here, so let’s start at the beginning. My son was born in 2007 profoundly deaf and it changed everything for me, I never knew love like it. Mother and baby groups were hard to come by back then and I spent a lot of time alone just Joseph and I, I was fine with that but I always felt I needed something more. Eventually I managed to get a place at a local class with other Mums and babies, I was so excited to meet other Mums and arrived at my first class so eager. After our first class, I remember feeling so broken, my beautiful baby was just not responsive like others, he had his little hearing aids on but wasn’t able to hear through them until many months later after cochlear implant surgery. I remember thinking this is a sensory class, how do I learn how to play with my baby? I was young and clueless, I felt very alone and parents didn’t talk to me, maybe because they felt awkward I don’t know, or maybe because I was closed off and had already set myself up to fail. I went to that class once more and knew it was not for me, I hated the way I felt and I knew that I never would want anybody else to feel that way. And so it began, as Joseph got older my knowledge of play and communication with deaf children grew. I became so passionate about language development in babies and how important it was as a parent to play, talk and give love. At the age of 13 months, Joseph had his cochlear implant surgery and was able to hear for the first time. It wasn’t like the videos you see of deaf children hearing for the first time, it was a long process, from listening to a series of beeps through a new mechanical device, it was a year of turning those beeps into recognisable auditory sounds. The process took a very long time and by 30 months first words started to emerge, at the age of 7 he had caught up with his peers. Being the Mother of a deaf child still is an epic adventure, that we have to be prepared to stop everything at the drop of a hat, if something major happens to the equipment or there are any signs of infection around the implant site, It is part of our daily life to check equipment, ears and his precious head.

About I became interested in holistic and complementary therapies in 1994 after I was invited to an aromatherapy party. I didn't have a clue what aromatherapy was! I had been suffering with eczema on my hands for 14 years. I had tried wearing cotton gloves and plastic gloves and I had used all the steroid creams available. Nothing worked and I was told to live with it. At the party I bought a Tea Tree Oil cream and some Seaweed Bubble Bath and was told this will help. Even though I thought -"rubbish"- I figured I had nothing to lose, so every night I soaked my hands in a bowl of seaweed bath water, and piled on the cream.....and in 3 months my eczema was gone..... ....AND I WAS HOOKED, SO I DECIDED TO GET QUALIFIED..... I have been passionate since then, and have trained in many forms of massage, reflexology, reiki, aromatherapy and stress management. As well as attending many seminars, workshops and conferences. I became Committee Secretary for the Federation Of Small Businesses Arun and District Branch in 2002 and I was their Chairman and representative for 3 years from 2009. I attended National Conference in Newport and Scarborough and had meetings with many Councillors and MP's In May 2011, I became Manager of the Arundel and Littlehampton branch of Mumpreneurs Networking Club and left after 4 years and now I am the Coordinator of the Federation of Holistic Therapists Worthing Local Support Group and Ambassador for the FHT (Federation Of Holistic Therapists)
