Independent coach

independent coach

Independent Coach Corporation was established and incorporated in 1941 by Mr. Francis Levett. Mr. Levett started the company with one bus, which he drove and maintained. Gradually, Mr. Levett expanded the company and the number of buses. However, it was only after World War II and the expansion of suburbia that the company began to see extensive growth. Independent Coach's first client was the Lawrence Public Schools which we are proud to note is still our largest client after more than 60 years. The company presently serves approximately 18 school districts in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County and the Long Island Railroad. Independent Coach and Mr. Levett were at the forefront of many safety concerns that affected its passengers. Independent Coach was one of the first school bus companies to have dual stop signs on their buses as opposed to just one. In addition, Independent Coach was one of the first companies to have the new and innovative crossover mirrors, cross over lights on the hoods of buses and the roofs of the buses painted in silver or white paint to reflect sunlight and heat. State law now mandates many of these features. Mr. Nicholas Fabrizio has been an employee of Independent Coach since 1955. He started his employment with the company as a bus driver and mechanic. As a result of his hard work and dedication to the company, Mr. Fabrizio started working alongside Mr. Levett where he learned the school bus industry from the "bottom up." Mr. Fabrizio eventually became the General Manager of all Independent Coach operations. In May of 1999, Mr. Fabrizio and his family purchased Independent Coach from the Estate of Francis Levett and became the company's president. Mr. Fabrizio's extensive experience in the industry along with his working relationship with Mr. Levett has resulted in the company's long lasting commitment to the safest transportation possible utilizing the most efficient and innovative methods in the industry. Independent Coach currently has two bus yards in the southwest section of Nassau County. The Inwood location is the original bus yard of the company while the Hewlett bus yard was purchased later in the 1970's. Independent Coach presently has approximately 300 vehicles in its fleet and approximately 380 employees.

Founders story Claud M Brandt Wendy Wu What we have seen from our previous working life Claud M Brandt Claud has over 50 years working experience having worked most of his working life in the construction industry and construction industry related businesses. During his career he has worked in countries in Eastern Europe, Middle East,Clearly defined value-added business processes are vital to the success of the business. Suitable KPIs can help the company focus on what they are seeking to achieve. Company policies and procedures are essential. A company may have defined policies and procedures but without regular reviews and updates it may not reflect the changing situation of the ongoing operation of the company and the growth the company. Compliance to regularly reviewed policies and procedures is essential to the success of any company, otherwise the policies and procedures are worthless. Merely looking at revenue and cost and accounting reports monthly, quarterly and yearly without tracing back to the root cause of any deficiencies and resolving any fundamental problems in a timely manner will potentially lead to ongoing financial problems depending on the severity of the problem. Regular reviews of the accounting and reporting system can help in ensure the system is updated in line with the company’s growth. Effective costing reviews can help the company achieve better cost control and cost reduction thus better business performance. For management to make reasonable and informed business decisions, the information provided to the management needs to be on time, relevant, adequate and correct. In the digital age we now live in, information systems are vital for any business and contributes significantly to the success of a business. Many companies are adopting accounting or ERP software to help manage their business. It is very important to have experienced personnel to help in the review of a company’s existing systems or evaluate new systems a company intends to purchase and very importantly assist in managing the implementation of any new software if the company does not have an experienced inhouse project manager for software implementation.

Safe For All

safe for all

London

Safe for All was formed by Anita August who has worked with disadvantaged groups in East London, both as a trainer and manager of a community project for over 13 years. Anita became aware of the significant impact that accredited training in First Aid and Health and Safety had on the employability and life skills of disadvantaged groups. Over the past four years (2006-2010) our senior trainers have been working in partnership with the College of North East London to deliver Health and Safety training to Haringey employees at all levels who are involved in delivering and managing front line services in Adult Social Care, including managers and employees of residential projects for adults with dementia, severe learning difficulties and mental health problems. The training has been extended to also deliver to services delivering childcare facilities including, nurseries, schools and childminders. Safe for All also specialises in delivering training to the Hospitality and Leisure Industries, Schools and Nurseries, Voluntary and Community Organisations, Social Enterprises and is expanding in to the Construction industry and Corporate Sector. Safe for All only uses qualified instructors who have a wealth of experience and knowledge gained from working in an operational Health and Safety and First Aid background, for example, Nurses, Lifeguards, Environmental Health Officers, Health & Safety Representatives and the Emergency Services. All associates have to demonstrate their competence through rigorous assessment of their training. All training associates are CRB checked. Safe for All’s Directors are professionals with extensive experience of managing private, public and third sector organisations and empowering disadvantaged people and communities in London. The Directors and training associates are committed to creating a more inclusive society and enabling everyone to access First Aid and Health and Safety training regardless of circumstance. Anita also identified a lack of affordable training provision and training resources for people with disabilities. Community groups she worked with encouraged her to make her services as widely available as possible. Hence Safe for All was born. Safe for All was formed with a vision to increase the availability of such training and is 50 per cent governed by people with disabilities.
