On behalf of everyone at Tynemouth Golf Club we extend a very warm welcome to both our members and visitors alike. It is our privilege and honour to be Captains for the year 2022/23 and to play our full part in ensuring all enjoy the excellent facilities both playing and socially available at our wonderful club. The face of golf is changing throughout the world and in the UK. New rules and innovations came into effect in 2019 and a new World Handicap System in late 2020, with the aim of making the game more enjoyable for all. Innovations such as speed golf, mixed competitions, easier playing/fun options are to be encouraged and with the help and support of all members from the most senior to most junior we feel sure that the club will move forward with success. TGC is one of the most attractive "parkland courses" in the North East. This par 70, 18-hole course is situated minutes from the beautiful village of Tynemouth, recently voted one of the best villages to visit in the country. The course offers a very fair challenge to all levels of golfer and the course record of 64 shows that to any golfer it is not as simple as it first appears. Planned level of improvements at the club are continuing and its environs will continue to remain in good condition at all times of the year. The club is proud to have completed an improvement program to the greenside bunkers in late 2020. Following that, we now have the addition of our brilliant new outside terrace which has proved extremely popular this summer with both members and visitors. We regularly have the popular “tunes on the terrace” in the summer months where different artists perform alfresco. We also have plans to further improve our clubhouse over the next few years. Membership is thriving at every level from new starters, juniors, low handicap to senior golfers. We are very well represented at County and Regional level, in multiple leagues from Junior to Senior. The gents team performed excellently in the Newcastle and District Golf League Division 1 finishing a creditable 4th place in 2022. Our professional John McKenna, oversees our adult "academy" for beginners, which was the brainchild of our club manager Paul Whittaker, and this has proved a great success. We extend our thanks to the members who acted as mentors and enthusiastically supported the initiative. The academy will continue to develop and encourage new golfers to enjoy the game and our Club. John also has a thriving junior academy which is very popular with both girls and boys of all ages.

In 2012 Anita founded The Positive Parenting Project, a social enterprise which aims to bring the benefits of proven evidence-based parenting strategies to as many parents (and children) as possible. Anita started her career in international development, spending four and a half years in Mongolia where she went through both of her pregnancies. (Her eldest son learnt to say ‘mummy’ in Mongolian before he said it in English!). Anita also spent time in Hungary and Kazakhstan. Anita has studied developmental psychology (child development) to postgraduate level and is an accredited Triple P® parenting coach. A leading UK parenting expert, she speaks at events across the country and delivers parenting seminars, webinars and one-to-one support. She is regularly featured as a parenting expert on TV and radio. Fascinated by children and how they develop, Anita has a talent for helping parents view their children and their own parenting strategies from different angles. She is adamant that there is no such thing as a perfect parent and says her ambition with her own children is simply not to make the same mistakes too often. After becoming a single parent, Anita changed careers. She worked as a strategic manager in a local authority children’s services for nine years, setting up and managing early intervention, targeted and specialist family support services including Sure Start Children’s Centres, parent support lines, teenage pregnancy prevention projects and intensive family support.

I’m a hugely experienced Coach based in Holland Park. With many thousands of coaching hours under my belt, I pride myself on having a reputation for empathetic and effective coaching. Prior to coaching, I was the award-winning MD of a TV production company and worked all over the world on many types of show. My job history has also included roles as a secretary, restaurant manager, saleswoman and lady’s companion. I believe my varied work experience and eclectic cultural interests have helped make me a better coach. My clients are from many different sectors and the vast majority come through personal recommendation. I currently coach people working in digital media, marketing, music, science, broadcasting, law and town planning. I also coach students at Imperial College, London. Having trained in the UK and US, I use many different tools and techniques. I have a Diploma in Coaching from the Oxford & Cambridge Board and have completed Team Coaching and Clean Language Coaching courses. In addition, I’m a Master Practitioner of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). I enjoy working face-to-face with clients but am well-versed in coaching remotely, something I do regularly with my international clients. My style is challenging but supportive. I am equally comfortable and confident dealing with professional or personal issues. As a matter of course, I offer a free initial consultation session because I believe, as in any relationship, chemistry is essential for the work to be truly effective.

Prior to his involvement in education, Steven worked in the banking sector, leading a large team as a branch manager and helping customers achieve their financial goals. He believes this experience helps him to set and meet high standards of client satisfaction. Steven combines his wealth of knowledge and expertise with a passion for school operations, ensuring that all the ‘small cogs keep the big wheel turning’ to achieve the best outcomes for children, school leaders and the wider school community. Martinex is a Finnish family-owned company that designs, manufactures and imports games, toys, clothing and accessories, and household goods. Martinex was established in 1986, when Risto and Tuula Muinonen decided to seek their dream; Risto had been working for Brio the toy company for a long period but an idea and an ideal of entrepreneurship and being an entrepreneur had grown strong from the seed that already had been planted at his childhood home At first, Martinex worked in the novelty and household goods business that still today plays an important role in the company and continue to be close to heart to the whole family. Gradually the long days and hard work paid off and Martinex established itself as a manufacturer and as a wholesale business. The business caught on to the next generation as Riia and Jenni, Risto’s and Tuula’s children, started working in the company with different tasks, gradually absorbing the entrepreneurial spirit that is the driving force in a family business. Year 1992 was a milestone for Martinex: the cooperation with Moomin Characters began. The company grew fast; as the company got bigger, the significance of the family as a source of strength was further emphasized.
