I love being hands on creative, cutting, sticking, chopping, painting, splattering but also being quite techie and having trained in pattern cutting and tailoring somehow marries perfectly with knit/crochet design and pattern writing. I have worked in house at Rowan yarns for almost 20 years being the Senior Designer, technical manager and also styling and art directing the majority of photo shoots it is a varied and rewarding job. I have also pursued an independent side with tutoring at residential workshops in Tuscany and more locally plus selling my wares at yarn events such as Yarndale. For an anxious hermit these can be a bit of a worry but the reward of meeting all the crafters and other designer makers is always worth it!

Bright stars Childcare is a family run business that opened in September 2014 by owners Sandra and Anil Ozdemir who are parents themselves so understand the importance of choosing childcare that meets your child's individual needs, helping them develop confidence through positive experiences. Sandra manages the nursery day to day and thoroughly enjoys getting to know all the children and their families. Sandra completed her foundation degree in 2019 and has 20 years’ experience working in childcare, therefore knows the benefits of working closely with her team supporting them with professional development enabling them to build on their current skills and knowledge to provide children with opportunities to develop further. Anil is the business manager and is responsible for the structure of the business, taking care of finances, budgets, fees, and improvements. Anil has regular visits to the nursery where he gets to meet children and families. Both Shelley and Danielle, the eldest daughters of the family also play an important part in Bright Stars, working with the children and completing administrative duties.

Hadfields cafe became BOOBS Approved after opening just weeks ago.Be Open on Breastfeeding Salford (B.O.O.B.S) and our sister project BOOBS in Bury are open community groups set up to empower women to be open about their breastfeeding experiences and inspire others to breastfeed for longer. We believe every mum should have the chance to have a happy, safe and comfortable breastfeeding journey. BOOBS is part of our parent social enterprise Visit from the Stork CIC and was first set up in 2014 by CEO Kimberly Bond. The project is led by Rachel Parkinson (Project Manager), Kerry Purle (Administrator and Peer support lead) and our team of amazing volunteers. Meet our team here. We support mums by; Offering online and face-to-face breastfeeding support across Salford and Bury, Running monthly social and educational Breastfeeding cafe events at our BOOBS Approved venues in Salford and Bury Holding antenatal ‘A BOOBS introduction to Breastfeeding’ sessions for mums-to-be, currently in Prestwich but open to all mums. Pram walks and small meetups in Radcliffe, Bury Campaigning for mums to be supported in the community through our BOOBS Approved campaign. Offering a membership scheme with exclusive discounts at our BOOBS venues to support families and local businesses.

I enjoyed a very broad experience with Shell UK, spanning logistics and distribution, business-to-business marketing, retail sales, marketing communications and the exploitation of motor sport sponsorships, customer service, operations and career transition. During this time I was also invited to tutor with The Leadership Trust on their Leadership in Management programme. This increased my desire to transform the performance of both executives and senior managers; and by that, to improve organisational performance too. This interest led me to the world of HR and in particular, guiding organisations through down-sizing processes; and supporting people through the redundancy experience – empowering them to become more self-aware and articulate their value to new potential employers. Specialising at executive and senior manager levels, means I make a real difference to them as individuals, drawing out their real values that positively impact on performance, profitability and stakeholder esteem; and therefore benefit new roles or organisations. For over 25 years, I have provided specialist and focused support to executives and senior managers spanning all key disciplines and the entire spectrum of industry, public sector and 3rd sector organisations. My interest is always in finding a better way to help smooth the process; guiding clients in a more professional way through each stage of their career transition – always with high quality and unlimited 1:1 support – and a unique approach supported by technical reasoning and psychological evidence.
