Welcome to Prendergast School. It is an honour and a privilege to be Prendergast School’s eleventh Headteacher and to work with staff, students and families. Staff here are passionate about ensuring the very best opportunities and education for all students. Our motto and ethos is ‘Truth, Honour, Freedom and Courtesy.’ We are all on the same side, working to support all students to excel. We take pride in building strong relationships with students and their families. We have a long history of providing exceptional education to young people. We were founded in 1880 as Prendergast Grammar School for Girls on a site in Catford provided by the Leathersellers’ Company, which then funded the school’s move to its current site in 1995. We are now part of the Leathersellers’ Federation of schools, a group of three secondary and two primary schools as well as Prendergast 6th Form. We are very fortunate to be part of the Federation and receive a lot of support from the Leathersellers’ Company, that helps our students succeed. We are very proud of our last Ofsted judgement of Outstanding in all areas, our third Outstanding judgement in a row. We are described in the most recent report as ‘exceptional’ and having ‘exemplary attitudes to learning’ across the school. We do achieve great academic results at Prendergast School (more information is on the website). However, as a parent or carer you also want to know that your child is happy and safe. This is very important to us and we pride ourselves that students feel confident in school and thrive under our care. It is important that when students leave after their time with us that they do so as well-rounded individuals who have had many different experiences, able to overcome challenges and most importantly to learn from their mistakes. It is important that students get involved in school life as much as possible. We have a wide range of extra-curricular activities and we do encourage all students to get involved. We expect all students to attend school journeys. Communication is very important to us. We always like to know what we do well and what we can improve on further. We ask students and families to get in contact with us if there is something that they would like to ask or raise with us.

John Ruskin College (part of Orbital South Colleges) is a successful vocational college situated in Selsdon, South Croydon. We deliver a wide range of full-time study programmes for young people and a range of full and part-time qualification and non-qualification courses for adults, including evenings. From September 2022, our full-time study programme offer for 16-18s will include T Levels. Our Apprenticeship offer is very wide meeting local employment and employer needs. Our courses run from Entry/Level 1 to Level 4 (and to Level 6 Higher Education at East Surrey College) with a key focus on career progression, upskilling for employment and higher level study. We’ve been developing courses in construction for over 10 years with an initiative to explore the latest methods in technology. Our passion for technology and construction has strengthen our delivery of our products and services — now we’re in a position to offer businesses and learning providers an opportunity to bring their business online. An online learning solution for our partners will enable them to achieve national or global access, improve client service through greater flexibility, increased productivity, saving on costs (hiring classrooms, materials, etc) and opportunities to manage the business from anywhere in the world. Our Team Our team is strengthen by support from a range of extensively qualified people with expert knowledge in delivering construction health & safety modules. Graham McEwing Graham McEwing has gained extensive knowledge throughout his working life within a number of areas from 2005 to the present day. During this time he works with a range of training providers and helps learners achieve their apprenticeships and functional skills within a wide range of course subjects. Currently his key focus would be within the Construction sector and currently provide Level 1 – Health & Safety courses. Kate Blye Kate Blye has achieved significant success with helping learners predominantly working within the construction industry. Kate worked as an Inspector for HSE for 9 years, and has an in depth understanding both of health and safety and of the construction process. She recognises that the practical skills required for construction work aren't always suited to a classroom situation and is passionate about making her training accessible to everyone. Ryan Lee Ryan Lee provides excellent support across many training areas but concentrates on the construction sector when delivering the Level 1 - Health & Safety in a Construction Environment course for OST. Other activities include tutoring for traineeships and apprenticeships. Ryan is passionate about delivering courses and upholding regulatory compliance.
