It was this moment that she realised then that first aid was not something regularly offered to new parents and that so many parents didn’t have basic first aid skills that could so easily save their child’s life. When researching suitable first aid training classes she found that parents were restricted to longer certified classes aimed at the corporate market who often showed frightening videos and told distressing stories. Jenni felt she wanted to educate parents in a way that made them feel happy, confident and empowered rather than terrified and intimidated. Jenni has grown her business from table top to a being multi-award winning franchise with trainers running their own successful Daisy businesses UK wide. She is considered a paediatric first aid expert. She has featured in numerous publications, has a huge celebrity parents portfolio and volunteers her time at many national charity events. Jenni says “We train thousands of parents every year and when you get that call to say a parent saved their child’s life thanks to our class, that is the most unbelievably emotional feeling. We are all so passionate about the importance of first aid and absolutely love what we do.” Daisy First Aid offers fun and fear-free first aid courses designed specifically for parents and child carers. The Cookery Courses Courses are either half-day or full-day. On the full-day course, attendees will spend the morning or evening preparing the recipes and then enjoy what they have prepared at a sit down meal. The courses are taught in a small group setting, with a mixture of hands-on cooking and demonstration, in a fun and friendly setting within our home. You can book a course as individuals, where you will have a chance to make new friends or book as a group of friends, family or work colleagues, to have a fun day together! The cooking classes offer a great team building opportunity. As such, I also run Corporate and Team Building workshops. There are further courses specifically for children and young persons ( I am DBS registered) and those with particular dietary requirements. Please contact me for further information. I spent the first half of my career in a thick fog, and of course I got lost and ended up somewhere I didn’t want to be. I felt lost, miserable, and what little confidence I had was waning by the minute. I also became a total bore. I was consumed by how unhappy I was. I couldn’t even apply for another job because I didn’t know what I’d do. So I felt stuck. I had, by many measures, a great job, a great salary, in a great company. But I was in the wrong place. I was ambitious with nowhere to direct it, so it evolved into frustration! It took a fair bit of effort to turn it around, which started with working out what I wanted and developing some much needed confidence to get there. Thankfully I had a good basis with my Psychology degree, throw in a mountain of self-help books, a coaching and NLP qualification, a mountain of training on presenting and the like…and a real desire to build my brand, visbility, and expertise, meant I built a reputation for business and leadership transformation. That experience of having a big impact, being recognised, and having real influence made me feel like I could achieve anything. My values, purpose, and strengths were all aligned and I felt amazing! It came as quite a shock then to be confronted by my inner feminist one day. I’d had my first daughter (I now have 2), and was having a cheeky nap. You know how it is, I love my sleep! So for the first time ever, I sat her down in front of Nickelodeon so I could get some zzz’s. I was happily snoozing away when the advertising started to filter through to me. The ‘boys toys’ were all exciting and adventurous. The ‘girls toys’ made me want to vomit. All about being pretty and vacuous. I jumped off the sofa with an ‘oh hell no’! Ever since I was a little girl I’ve been driven by fairness. I think it may be because I’m the youngest of 4 and nothing ever seemed fair from my standpoint. My sister tells me of times I used to fight for gay rights at the dinner table and I was always arguing for what I felt was right (because it is). The one thing I’d never have called myself back then, or until that day, was a feminist. No, I’d been well trained by society to see feminists as embarrassing, hairy, dungaree-wearing angry women who made a show of themselves. This moment set a chain of events into action that lead me to start a political party where I live, and gave me the direction for the business I would later start.

I’m an e-learning professional with an MA in Online and Distance Education, but more importantly, I’m someone that is very passionate about education and technology’s role within it. WHY HAVE YOU MADE THIS SITE? This website is the successor of my Multiple Tracks blog which was a free WordPress blog site. I chose to go down the route of getting my own hosting to increase my options on what I can do with my content and, crucially, for me to learn how to create my own website using WordPress. WHAT WILL E-LEARNING MATTERS BE ABOUT? The content I’ll be writing about will naturally revolve around e-learning. However, what is e-learning and why should you care about it? The ‘e’ in e-learning stands for ‘electronic’, so e-learning is learning using electronic technologies. This learning can be a part of a course or curriculum or it can account for their entirety. Typically, e-learning is seen purely as online learning where learners engage with materials via the Internet. This website will not be solely looking at online learning, however. I’ll be discussing the wide variety of issues that fall under the roof of technology enhanced learning or educational technology. The link to the left is to the wikipedia entry for educational technology. I’ll be doing this in all my blog posts when a particular term comes up that I feel readers may be interested in because I am committed to making this website a hub for people to learn about the field of educational technology. A place where readers can find not only original content but a starting off point for further reading to achieve a deeper understanding of the subjects covered. I’ll be writing about subjects such as the future of education, new developments in technology that will and are having an impact on education, and existing and burgeoning learning theories that relate to these technologies use in learning. What are the characteristics of a successful Open House? The book Encountering Encounters tells how our Open House was created with the goal of sharing an artistic dream with the people that visit the Brighton Festival each year. Our intent was to bring exceptional artists from overseas to mingle with local artists and makers, thereby creating opportunities for encounters that would not otherwise occur. We sought to facilitate encounters through the appreciation of art, thereby forging new connections between people. Encounters’ mission is to make a distinctive contribution to a city that is imbued with a deep artistic culture. Encounters believes in the democratisation of art. Today, this can be realised in new ways. The art Industry is impacted by social and technological innovation, creating never-before-available opportunities. We strive to be a trend-setting pioneer in bringing innovation practices to enrich encounters between viewers, artists, galleries, institutions and collectors. We use unusual art settings and adopt an inclusive curatorial practice to promote social engagement. We recognise that institutions and galleries play a vital role in art appreciation but they can be distant and overwhelming. Encounters is committed to fight against a belief that the appreciation of art is an elitist pursuit confined to a privileged few. This vision, mission and values have enchanted many visitors. Encounters is the most consistently successful Open House in the 35-year history of the Artists Open House Movement, being the winner or in the top three of all open houses for five years in a row. More than 10.000 visitors have enjoyed a unique blend of local and international work. In all, 56 artists from 20 countries have shown a vast and eclectic range of artwork and curated art educational projects. Many of Encounters’ artists come from Latin America, where there is a vibrant, exciting and dynamic art scene. They have brought a new artistic life force to Hove and mingle with our talented local artists who gain from being part of an international show. Encounters has developed beyond the Brighton Festival. In 2015 a new venture, Encounters-on-the-Road, was launched to work with kindred spirits and co-create inclusive art experiences in different parts of the World. Encounters-on-the-Road has shown work from leading Latin American artists in an exhibition in Busan, Korea and, more recently other galleries in the UK and Europe.
