Our personal training gym in Glasgow is a product of over 10 years of research into training spaces and methods. It is very much a labour of love, we have put all our learnings into creating a space that works. I used to be a skinny, quiet kid but once I transformed my physique it changed my entire life so profoundly that I knew I wanted to help others do the same. Now I am dedicated to helping people unleash their physical potential and giving them confidence and belief in themselves that I know can improve all aspects of their lives. Hi I'm Katie, the face behind Sealy MacWheely. I am a passionate spinner, knitter and lover of all things bright and colourful! Sealy MacWheely began with very humble beginnings and came into being initially whilst I was a student to raise money for the brilliant charity, Childreach International, with whom I trekked through the Andes of Peru in the summer of 2013. Once the trek to the summit of Machu Picchu was complete I simply couldn't let go of my wee business and after graduating and moving down to the outskirts of the wonderful city of Glasgow I refreshed and rebranded and began the daunting task of vending at local craft markets. It didn't take long for my business to outgrow itself and soon I was driving across the country to larger yarn and fibre festivals and events and with a little hesitation and a lot of excitement I eventually quit my regular job and took up Sealy MacWheely full time. This of course led me to my wee Yarn & Fibre Shop which would never have existed had it not been for the incredible support of our amazing yarn community. With the help of a successful Kickstarter campaign in the autumn of 2018 I was able to move into my beautiful wee shop in Kirkintilloch where I could focus all my creative energy into sharing my love of fluff and colour! I am also passionate about ecology and the environmental impact of my business has been factored into every decision I make. Both the shop and my home where I do my dyeing are powered by 100% renewable energy and I use absolutely no single use plastics in my branded products. I am proud to announce that Sealy MacWheely has recently teamed up with Ecologi, meaning that for every purchase made both in the shop and online a tree will be planted in an effort to combat the climate emergency that our planet currently faces. Although the Covid 19 pandemic has been a bumpy ride the shop has recently moved to a new premises with an in-situ dye studio and I have absolutely no intention of giving up! In fact I have so many exciting adventures lined up for the next year that I can't wait to share with you so keep your eyes peeled!

I first found myself faffing with flowers when I was fourteen. My work experience placement fell through and a local florist agreed to take me on for a week. By the time Friday came I was in love. From then on I worked as a Saturday girl, sweeping up debris, conditioning flowers, taking orders. The florists I worked with taught me everything from hand tied bouquets to funeral work. I never really saw floristry as a full time career option for myself though. Before attending the University of Glasgow I took a gap year. Unlike many others who travel the world on their gap year I immersed myself in flowers. I attended Broomfield Hall, Derby College to complete a BTEC in floristry. Then I packed my bags, left for Glasgow and fell into a marketing career. Flowers were always a part of me, though. Whenever I was low on cash or between jobs I would return to floristy. Whenever I met new people I’d introduce myself as a florist. I held parties in my flat just as an excuse to decorate my home with fresh blooms.

Many of the drawings that I produce are constructed via two very different drawing techniques. The initial drawing, or skeleton, is drawn completely blind until I can sense that the main details have been put onto the paper. This is followed by the details being added in a much more careful way looking at the paper and the subject/source. The combination of the wild abandon of the blind drawing and the careful, meticulous details is a process that I find very satisfying. I believe that it fulfills my various impulses as an artist to draw in this way. The tension between freedom and control, instinct and deliberateness and imperfections and corrections are all contained in a single drawing. The action of 'fixing', or almost trying to justify the initial blind drawing is the main driving force behind the process. In terms of subject matter, I am drawn to found images which stir something in me emotionally, and I try to be instinctive in this. The contemplative times when alone and the intensity of love are something that I try to capture in my images. The action of embracing imperfections is something that feels poignant considering the numerous ideals in modern society.

Let me tell you a little bit about me... I have had a passion for dogs for as long as I can remember! Growing up with border collies and always looking after dogs for friends and family was the starting point of my love for all things dog! In 2012 I decided to take things a step further and began my studies on both Dog Training and Behaviour in order to become a certified trainer and behaviourist After an intensive initial 2 years studying, I set up my own dog training services in 2013 and have continued to help owners and their dogs since as well as continuing to further my own studies and knowledge each year through various accredited colleges, courses and dog training affiliations. As it stands I now have almost a decade of experience in my field as well as numerous certificates & diplomas and continue to develop my knowledge and accreditations further year on year At any given time my husband and I tend to have a small pack of our own! The services I offer cover dog training , puppy training, dog obedience training and behaviour support in Wishaw, Motherwell and most of the Lanarkshire based areas I primarily offer 1-2-1 private training but also have group obedience classes, group confidence walks, Puppy groups and puppy play dates throughout the year! A 'Balanced' approach to modern dog training My training methods focus on positive and reward based training with all dogs including my own and truly believe this is the best way for not only the dogs but in order to strengthen the trust and bonds we have with them. This can be with food, praise or their favourite toy depending on the dog. We do need to add corrections when training to help our dogs understand what we are looking for from them. These do NOT have to inflict pain or fear and none of the methods I use will ever hurt or scare a dog! My training methods are about building trust with your dog and strengthening the bond and relationship you have. I use ways which will motivate the dog and have been found to have better long term benefits for both you and him I train my own dogs the same way I will train yours.
