We started work here in New Cross in the year 2000 when we were set up as St James Family Learning Centre by the Southwark Diocese Board of Education and the London Borough of Lewisham to address issues of inequality in education South London. Since then we have we have supported hundreds of families to have better chances in life by providing high quality early education and family learning activities. Over the years we have worked in partnership with Children’s Centres, local schools and other voluntary organisations to provide activities that promote lifelong skills and a love for learning. Today we are called New Cross & Deptford Families First and we are a not for profit limited Company (Company No. 07645531). We are also a registered charity St James and New Cross Gateway Trust (reg charity no. 1143836). Our Nursery is registered with and monitored by Ofsted, (registration number is EY493086). We continue to provide services to help parents and children to grow and achieve: educationally, socially and emotionally, by providing a safe space and access to enriching and stimulating activities. We are committed to providing families with high quality play experiences that lay the foundations for lifelong learning. . We understand the diverse needs of our families and how to engage with them to achieve positive outcomes.

However, The Audience Loved It. I Took Classes With An Awesome Company Called One Way UK Where I Was Taught Key Skills And Foundations Of Puppetry. How Did You Come Up With Littlecrowns Storyhouse? I Studied Acting At Stella Adler Studio In New York City. Whilst In NYC, I Was Chosen To Work On Behalf Of The Student Outreach Team That Held Regular Workshops In Schools Around New York. This Experience Led Me To Start Making Puppets And Perform Traditional Folk Stories In Local Children’s Bookshops Around New York City. How Did You Become Passionate About Childcare? In Addition To Being An Actor, I’m A Full Time Nanny And Have Worked With Children From Birth To Primary. My Motto Is To Always Enhance The Child Experience Through Play! Like thousands of parents across the UK, mother of three, ReedahEl-Saiewas frustrated with an antiquated education system originally designed post industrial revolution to prepare children for factory work. She had witnessed how exams and revision had caused her children stress and anxiety, resulting in them losing their love of learning. As a family of diverse heritage Reedahalso hoped for a more inclusive curriculum both in terms of content and delivery. In winter 2018, whilst preparing her son for 11+, Reedah came across Fortnite which her sons during revision breaks. She noticed how the 3D open world, multi-player, action game appealed to children across the world. She imagined 3D open world, educational game, including diverse characters and stories, fully aligned with the UK national curriculum and entrance exams, enabling learning through play. After extensive but fruitless research for a pre-existing educational mobile games app aligned with the UK national curriculum, Reedahfounded BrainsparkGames (previosulyXplorealms). Her vision was to create a 3D open world, celebrating diverse characters, using awesome immersive technology to engage wider audiences as well as BAME, vulnerable and neurodiverse. She researched the twenty-first century skills movement and flip schools and held workshops and interviewed children, parents and teachers to ensure a user-led product. Brainsparkwas founded in in November 2019 and is on a mission to revolutionise the way children learn in every corner of the world!

In 2009, Zaytuna College was founded in Berkeley, CA, with a mission that called for grounding students in the Islamic scholarly tradition as well as in the cultural currents and critical ideas shaping modern society. Today, we welcome students from across the world to both our BA and MA programs. Our BA program is in liberal arts and Islamic studies, providing students with a foundation in the intellectual heritage of two major world civilizations: the Islamic and the Western. For our MA program we offer two tracks in Islamic texts: Islamic theology and philosophy or Islamic law and legal theory. This program aims to provide students with higher-level access to the Islamic tradition through a guided course of study in Islam’s primary sources. At Zaytuna College, we have set out to do our best at restoring the broad-based, holistic tradition of what in the West was called the liberal arts and in the Muslim civilization was known as comprehensive studies. These civilizations share common aims: to think deeply and systematically about the world (creation), to ponder its ultimate source and purpose (Creator), and to live ethically in the course of our individual and collective lives (spirituality and politics). Ultimately, the purpose of education from an Islamic perspective—and for Zaytuna College—is to aid students in their own pursuit and discovery, inculcating the love of beauty, truth, and goodness in a human being.

Inclusion Expert’s founder, Daniel Sobel, is an internationally respected leader in inclusive education and has advised the DfE, the EU and governments abroad. Daniel is a well-known speaker, writes regularly for publications including Headteacher Update and The Guardian, and is the author of several books including Narrowing the Attainment Gap. Daniel left school with no A Levels and read his first book aged 18. Gradually he fell in love with study and managed to secure a place on a Master’s course in Education Psychology. He went on to take four graduate courses in Psychology and Education, eventually running out of money in the middle of doctoral training. Daniel moved to full time teaching and quickly became a SENCO. Dismayed by how much of the job was pointless meetings and paperwork, he started designing tools to better support his students. During a stint as Assistant Head he continued to develop simple systems to help teachers manage information and maximise the impact of their interventions. Realising that many teachers were struggling with inclusion, that his ideas really worked, and that there was an opportunity to make a difference to children across the country, Daniel left teaching, somewhat hesitantly, to form Inclusion Expert. Over the last few years the company has grown rapidly to encompass a team of experienced practitioners who share Daniel’s vision that every child deserves the opportunity to achieve their potential, regardless of needs, background or ability.

The British accessories brand was founded by best friends and ex-fashion buyers Jemma and Lesa, who met on their first day at the London College of Fashion. They bonded over a love of design, a passion to start their own business and a mutual struggle to find a watch that they wanted to wear. Lovers of vintage, the pair would trawl through antique markets to find timepieces, but, whilst beautiful, the cogs would often stop and start. After graduation, the girls went on to pursue successful careers in fashion buying, clocking up time at diverse fashion brands such as Topshop, ASOS and Selfridges. All the while, the idea of going it alone was gathering momentum until the day in 2011 when Jemma and Lesa made the leap, quit their jobs and set about creating their own beautiful, unique watches from the kitchen table. Named after Lesa’s great aunt whose spirited approach and energy was a huge inspiration to the girls, Olivia Burton debuted its first collection in September 2012. Its covetable, collectable styles, which now include a striking jewellery line-up, are inspired by vintage finds and the latest catwalk trends. Designs are brought to life at the brand’s pretty East London studio, where Jemma and Lesa work closely with their small team to ensure every piece is tweaked to perfection. She looks after everything from email, to PR, website content, and socials. Charlie Simpson Creative Executive Charlie is a content creator, that has worked with numerous individuals, businesses and artists on projects, that have gained reach world-wide. Charlie has worked with Jacqueline since the beginning, helping to maintain our Website and offer technical support. He is also an experienced food Videographer and Photographer.
