Azadi Trust was founded in 1991 by Dr. Robin Fisher, a GP working in Sparkbrook, Birmingham, as a Christian outreach to the large number of drug users in the area. From these early beginnings Azadi has followed the vision that ‘Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Freedom’ (2 Cor 3:17) which remains our ‘strapline’ to this day, some thirty years on. The surgery and the drugs work had closed by the mid-1990’s, but the Charity remained and in 1997, with the support of the local Anglican church, Christ Church, purchased the old surgery building. This building is now known as Azadi House. In the early days, the ground floor of Azadi House was the base for activities such as a youth club and a homework club, mainly run by Christ Church members but designed to be accessible to the local community; subsequently the Trust supported projects, such as ‘Bright Sparks’ mother and toddler group and ‘Azadi Tigers’ football team, which operated away from its base. On the basis of these early experiences we don’t seek to ‘set up projects’ but rather to ‘follow what God is doing’ and actively support Christians in the inner-city who want to set up or who are already actively running projects, people who have a vision (and warmth and enthusiasm) to reach others with the love of God but do not want the distraction of establishing a structure to accommodate their vision and who would rather just ‘get on with the job’. Hope Garden Project, who have been part of Azadi for over 10 years, are an example of this.

Hi, I’m Jane Barrett, co-founder of The Career Farm and co-author of “Taking charge of your career”. I started my career in in-house recruitment (recruiting MBAs for PricewaterhouseCoopers) and retained search consultancy for blue-chip clients, private companies and start-ups across a variety of sectors including Finance, IT and FMCG. As a recruiter it was clear to me that many well-qualified MBA and Masters candidates were poorly prepared for the interview process, and were unable to explain what they wanted and what they had to offer. This lack of preparation meant that good candidates were failing to get offers. We founded The Career Farm to support the careers teams at Business Schools across the UK and Europe, using our 3-step “GPS” process to help students get better jobs on graduation. Over the years we’ve worked with thousands of students, originally in face-to-face workshops and more recently through our online courses. The Bigger Picture The work we do with Business Schools and our corporate clients helps to support “The Future of Work”, a not-for-profit initiative aligned with the UN Sustainability Goals that gives young people an opportunity to explore the jobs that will help our economies and communities meet the diverse challenges of the 21st century. WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT? Our approach is light touch with minimal intervention in the environment and prioritising nature. We are currently developing our site facilities and creating spaces for small groups and low impact events. These include bushcraft, forest school, wellbeing sessions, forest bathing, yoga, pilates, artist retreats etc. We’re already working with schools, charities, youth and arts groups. If you've got a small scale event, workshop or idea you'd like to make happen, we would love to hear from you. Just drop us a message on our contact page. NATURE Our ethos is very much one of balance, so for us plants and animals are as important as people. We are currently working with fantastic environmental advisors to establish what plants and animals are currently residing on our site. Our aim is to protect the habitats that already exist, create a comprehensive management plan and increase biodiversity where possible. It's all about the science! In common with most of the British Isles the land here has been managed by humans for hundreds of years - a mixture of farming, park land and old tree plantations. It’s not wild in the true sense of an untouched natural ecosystem but it’s a special place that has been left pretty much to itself for several decades. Bronze is contemporary and yet has strong echoes deep within our evolutionary past. The casting of bronze is a raw and elemental process that can be achieved around a campfire with beeswax and clay or in sophisticated foundries using high tech furnaces and technical materials. At the heart of the process is the transformative slight of hand, like fossilisation where one object becomes another under the influence of extreme heat. Organic materials or wax are replaced by bronze in the casting process, via a combination of intention, earth and fire. Finishing and colouring bronze is equally transformative, raw metal through the crude exposure to the weather, seawater or sophisticated of chemical sequences and heat comes to life with rich, lustrous and intense colours. NEW WORKS I love the physicality of sculpture both of the process and the materials. Before setting up my bronze foundry in 2015 I trained and practiced as a ceramic artist. Working wax, is a visceral process; how I feel in the act of creation and my responses to the emerging piece dictate the outcome. I suspend conscious engagement and hold the sense of where something is going for as long as possible without interpretation. I believe that a work of art can offer a mirror to the soul for both the maker and the observer. How we respond to a work tells us something about ourselves. For this reason I am encouraged to explore new areas of work and challenge the viewer to consider their response to all types of work, paying attention to what they like as much as well as what they find uncomfortable.

My name is Annette Barrett and I run Cook Stars Cardiff North & West. Having taken early retirement, I am now ready for the new challenge of promoting the importance and love of cooking in the wider community and decided to join Cook Stars in order to further this goal. I just loved the name 'Cook Stars'. Cooking allows every child the opportunity to shine in their own unique way and I'm so excited to be running children's cooking classes. I instantly knew I needed to be involved in this business in order to create an abundance of 'stars' armed with essential life skills. Learning to cook is such an important life skill but unfortunately over the years less and less time has been given to this subject in the school curriculum and many children have not been able to experience what they should have. Cooking has never been more important than it is now with increased obesity rates, diabetes and other food related disorders. I am so excited to be able to contribute to improving a person's health and well-being through cooking. I am married with two children, both in their twenties. They have been away at university but still want to come home for some 'proper food'!! In my spare time I like to follow sport and I am a Cardiff City Season ticket holder. I also swim regularly and recently swam the length of the English Channel for charity. Holidaying somewhere hot is also a must!

HomeAbout What happens when you pit a lifelong procrastinator against the biggest test of his life? Trouble. I’m Miles, a recent graduate from the MOT program at the University of Utah. Being a podcast junkie myself, when I was studying for the NBCOT exam I wished there had been a podcast to help me make some progress when I was driving, at the gym, or just not feeling like banging my head against a computer screen. My goal with the podcast is to make the journey I had to take a little easier for other aspiring occupational therapists. Person I’m a huge nerd with a passion for basketball, sushi and OT. I’m always on the hunt for a good Netflix recommendations. My path to OT was a little strange. I worked in tech support during my undergrad and graduated in advertising, but not before taking the pre-reqs for OT school. I love the combination of creativity and purpose in our profession and consider myself lucky to have stumbled across it before I joined the ranks of [insert PT joke here]. Environment I was born and raised in Minnesota, lived in Japan for two years and am currently looking forward to having an actual income for Utah’s next ski season. Occupation I’m currently working at an inpatient acute rehab hospital and loving it. __________________ . __________________ That’s the gist of it. Noise Academy was created in 2015 by Joe Townsley who is a midlands based DJ and Music producer. Joe studied Music production at Access Creative College in Lincoln and felt inspired by the innovation of the sessions and how engaged he became through the use of music technology. After completing the course, Joe went into organising Dance music events in the club scene whilst playing at many other live DJ events and festivals. Joe came across the opportunity to do some work experience with ‘Jeff Rich’ who was the main drummer for the famous ‘Status Quo’. He helped Jeff set up several Drumming workshops in primary schools across the UK and this opened Joe’s eyes to a whole new world. He felt so inspired by the workshops and a light bulb moment occurred. Dj skills in schools? This could work really well… Joe found out about the Prince’s Trust enterprise scheme and approached them with his idea. He was offered a place on the course, and with their support and guidance, Noise Academy was born. Building up from just one school, Noise Academy now work with over 50 schools every week along with facilitating holiday clubs across Christmas, Easter and Summer. Noise Academy have since been supported by Youth Music to help develop their own educational hub alongside receiving numerous awards including; CO-OP Community Champions and The AIM Local Hero Awards (BBC Music introducing) #makesomenoise “I am so lucky to have found my niche, and to be able to do something that I love every day. Air Rifle shooting in the heart of West LondonWelcome to West London Rangers Air Rifle Club website. We are an air rifle and air pistol club for those over 18 years of age only, who wish to shoot non-FAC air guns. We shoot ‘knock-down’ metal targets in the Hunter Field Target (HFT) discipline and meet on alternate Sundays throughout the year, plus some extra dates in the summer. The club has a dedicated pistol range, three rifle practice ranges and a nice wooded area for HFT competitions and practice days. We also love to indulge our passion for vintage rifles and pistols (both modern and vintage) with many members bringing their kit down and reminding us all how these shooting sports first came to life. Sometimes its just for fun and sometimes we get a bit more competitive but it is certainly an enjoyable and growing element of the club. We offer a limited number of supervised sessions for “newbies” or “semi-experienced” shooters and can hire our Air Arms S400 (PCP) or the Gamo GX40 (PCP) or the Weihrauch HW97K (Springer) rifle for a very reasonable £10 per day for those without guns who wish to try their hand before taking a host of advice as to which kit to buy! Our goal is to provide a safe environment to promote the sport of air rifle and air pistol shooting. New members, both experienced or new to the sport, are welcome.
