Our primary purpose is to provide a hub for the global Nonviolent Communication (NVC) community — a platform for experienced trainers to teach what they love to those who want to learn. We have worked with hundreds of certified trainers, experts in their own rite, who have come to us with their own diverse experience and knowledge from various walks of life. We are connectors, offering a space for trainers and individuals to come together. Mission: The NVC Academy’s mission is to facilitate access to NVC training to individuals worldwide, regardless of the availability of trainers in their immediate geographic region and financial situation. We started work here in New Cross in the year 2000 when we were set up as St James Family Learning Centre by the Southwark Diocese Board of Education and the London Borough of Lewisham to address issues of inequality in education South London. Since then we have we have supported hundreds of families to have better chances in life by providing high quality early education and family learning activities. Over the years we have worked in partnership with Children’s Centres, local schools and other voluntary organisations to provide activities that promote lifelong skills and a love for learning. Today we are called New Cross & Deptford Families First and we are a not for profit limited Company (Company No. 07645531). We are also a registered charity St James and New Cross Gateway Trust (reg charity no. 1143836). Our Nursery is registered with and monitored by Ofsted, (registration number is EY493086). We continue to provide services to help parents and children to grow and achieve: educationally, socially and emotionally, by providing a safe space and access to enriching and stimulating activities. We are committed to providing families with high quality play experiences that lay the foundations for lifelong learning. . We understand the diverse needs of our families and how to engage with them to achieve positive outcomes.

I came to Pilates after suffering from a herniated disc over 10 years ago. I toyed with classical and the not so classical approach to Pilates for years – from right back to the basics of the fundamentals of Pilates to a more flow/yoga inspired type of class. When I moved to Toronto in the Summer of 2016, I hit the studios hard and started practising 5/6 times a week, sometimes twice a day because I loved the studio and the style of teaching so much. A friend asked me if I had thought about doing my training…fast forward to 2018 and completing my Stott Pilates teacher training in Brighton! i am also pre and post Natal trained through Mama’s Pilates. I am training to be a Moving Fascia Teacher through Evolve Movement in Brighton I like to think the spiritual side of movement isn’t just saved for yoga. Come to my class for an hour of movement, fun and a great playlist! I think the playlist is such an important part of the class. I love feedback and want to cater to you – it’s a two way street, so don’t be afraid to let me know what you want to see in classes too. I look forward to seeing you on the mat!

Nicki and Lisa met in 2009 – on an advanced communication skills course! Lisa was a delegate and Nicki was training to be a facilitator. Lisa subsequently also went through training (she says it’s the most rigorous training she has ever done) . Their working partnership developed over the subsequent years, and they began facilitating courses together regularly in about 2012. They have worked together across England and Wales, and in Ireland. Nicki has had the opportunity to travel to both New Zealand and Singapore to deliver communication skills training. Lisa is not at all jealous… It is very clear to them that the need for communication skills training amongst healthcare professionals is huge, with doctors, nurses and AHPs being asked to have the most difficult conversations with patients and their families without the skills that could make those conversations go as well as possible. The evidence that communication skills can be learned is clear, but staff are not being offered the opportunity to optimise their skills. This feels unfair. In order to continue to be able to deliver training and to develop new facilitators, Nicki and Lisa created Reach in 2018. Both were still in full time NHS employment at the time, but have since retired from clinical work to concentrate on training. They both love what they do

There is nothing I love more than listening to your goals and obstacles and setting out a structured plan for the future, all with the aim of living a better quality of life and making you feel fantastic in body and mind!” “Never stop learning because life never stops teaching!” I took my first yoga class at age 16 whilst working as a fashion model in London. It wasn’t until adult life, after going through a series of experiences which led to a deep depression that I was brought back on to my mat once again and really began a deep understanding and connection to the benefits yoga. I teach at several venues in Hertfordshire and abroad. I am trained in hot yoga but I also teach non-hot and enjoy guiding yogis from early beginners to advanced practitioners. I teach at a range of diverse locations but also at my studio in Abbots Langley. Click here for more information about The Studio. Yoga is a practice for everyone and although my journey as an instructor started as mind rehabilitation and a spiritual journey, utilising breath and mindfulness, I have come to recognise the health benefits for the body. My passion is to constantly learn more and educate myself further to pass this on in my clients.

Hi my name is Petra Lewis and I am a personal trainer and fitness professional with a passion for nutrition. January 2016 I was introduced to the incredible world of food fermentation. I thought I will give it a go to help my husband with his stomach issues. Basically he was going through a bottle of Gavascon a week. 4 – 6 weeks later he had noticed a dramatic improvement to the point his last bottle of Gavascon is still unopened in the cupboard. The following summer we also noticed that my son and husband who used to suffer with hay fever suddenly had improved dramatically. Personally I no longer suffer from the dreaded sugar cravings that I am sure most can relate to. We had improved our general health including upset stomach, colds and viruses. Most of all I feel very satisfied that my family now have healthy happy gut! Being passionate about it I have decided to start doing the workshops to give you the opportunity to try it out and learn how to make it all for your own health benefits. I am so glad I got myself into Fermenting as I love the taste and see the health benefits for myself and my family. I am sure this will open up a wealth of health opportunities for you.
