We offer a variety of programmes to enhance the individual in their areas of personal interest, as well as teaching English and maths. I started my career dreaming of primary grades, interning in international schools while studying abroad. However, it was during my student teaching in Fairfax County, Virginia that I fell in love with upper elementary and middle school. I taught everything from second grade through high school, but I always worked my way back to those crazy middle school years. After teaching intermediate grades for more than 20 years, I now homeschool my own middle schooler.

Welcome, this my story of how I came to be a Bob Ross instructor. I loved art when I was at school but never found the opportunity to develop this interest. A long career in farming nurtured my love of the countryside and I took enormous pleasure in observing nature; early mornings, sunrises and mists, majestic trees, sparkling sunshine on the water etc. Later in life, as fate would have it, I found myself laid up for 6 weeks after an operation, and with so much time on my hands, I needed an activity – in an attempt to keep me occupied my wife gave me a painting by numbers kit. After that first very basic kit, I had begun to rediscover my love of painting. I rapidly moved on to acrylics then watercolours and then one day I came across Bob Ross on the television and was fascinated by his ‘Wet-on-Wet’ technique of painting with oils. I was amazed at the incredibly professional and delightful paintings which were possible to create in just one sitting and I watched his programmes over and over again. By 2011 I had attended Bob Ross instructor workshops to learn this method of painting for myself. Passionate about sharing this wonderful way of painting with others and discovering I had a natural aptitude for teaching, in 2012 I qualified as a Bob Ross instructor for ‘Wet-on-Wet’ floral techniques and in 2013 returned and qualified in landscape painting. My classes in my studio in Great Glen, Leicestershire, are friendly and relaxed and above all informal. We have fun together, make new friends, gain confidence through learning a new skill and anybody, even someone who has never picked up a brush before can produce a fabulous piece of art over the course of the day to take home and enjoy – a painting to be proud of. I guarantee you’ll have a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding experience.

I loved every minute of the weekend I spent on Liz's retreat. A beautiful place, instantly welcoming, a perfectly judged mix of yoga and down time (in which I managed to fit in a facial, a sound bath and a nap!), delicious, thoughtful food. I went on my own and left feeling so lucky to have spent time amongst such a range of fantastic group of women. Liz is a brilliant yoga teacher who encouraged us all to try new things, anticipated challenges and offered alternatives, helped me connect my breathing with movements and really take myself out of my head... But beyond that she, and the team she bought together for the retreat, have the most beautiful vibe - full of sunshine and fun and love and way of creating an incredibly nurturing atmosphere that is also genuinely joyful. Not surprisingly, I've signed up for the next one!

Professional development workshops for Counsellors and Psychotherapists. PIPS offers training workshops for Psychotherapists and Counsellors in the UK. The workshops are experiential, interactive and aimed at personal and professional growth. Places are limited. Please have a read... I love my garden it brings me such a sense of peace. As I was tending a particularly troubled rose bush, regularly troubled by black spot and aphids, I thought about how much I grow with my garden and how much of me is in it. I enjoy a sense of my own agency as I make things happen. This is not through controlling and forcing plants to be what they are not but expecting to get a healthy return in our relationship accepting limitations and sometimes choosing not to continue to grow something where I get little return or don't like what is available. This reminds me of how I have come to view relationship that if I expect to be loved and cared for in general this happens and if it does not then this is not solely my doing. I can choose to end relationships which are draining and unfruitful. The rose bush reminds me of a family member who can often cause me concern and attack me. I am now aware of how much I can safely give that relationship, without feeling drained or prickled. I get some returns enough to keep the rose bush with its limitations. I am able to keep myself open to more enriching relationship such as the honeysuckle which bounds up and offers freely this helps me tolerate the disappointments of the rose and the Lilly of the valley, which has never survived despite my efforts.
