Belief – We firmly believe that all schools have a duty to their children to develop their fundamental movement skills, whilst providing a fun and engaging environment and to ensure that every child leaves primary school physically literate. Aim – Recent studies have proven that a healthy body is a healthy mind and regular physical activity increases concentration, motivation and ultimately academic performance. Allied to this, we aim to educate children on the importance of physical activity and give teachers the knowledge and expertise to deliver engaging lessons so every child has a positive experience of P.E in their school. Objective – Our principle objective is to give all children a platform in which to realise their sporting potential in a safe and competitive environment, whilst inspiring them to remain active throughout their life. We provide children with the tools that will allow them to not only thrive academically and in sport but also socially, developing their life skills such as communication, listening, problem solving, leadership and decision making. Hassle Free – ProStars pride themselves on being hassle free. This means that you will consistently have the same coach throughout the year. This is not only important for child development but they will understand the schools policies, procedures and the day to day running of the school to ensure everything runs smoothly. We’ve never cancelled a session – On the rare occasion your coach is absent we will instantly find a replacement. The replacement coach will be of equal quality, briefed on policies and procedures, class management, how the day is run, know what the children have previously been learning and what they need to learn that lesson. We are local –We are based in The Dean Academy, Lydney and use local coaches that have been developed through our BTEC and HND programme. We are in daily contact with our team of coaches to ensure that all planning and assessments are done to the highest standard. We are also a very close group of colleges with immense job satisfaction and therefore have a very low turnover of staff, ensuring that you get consistency throughout each year. Staff qualifications – Not only do all P.E specialists have a degree or are working towards a degree in sports coaching and development, they also hold at least a level 2 coaching qualification in their chosen sport. Alongside this, they have undergone an enhanced DBS check, first aid, safeguard and child protection training. We won’t be beaten on price – We understand that schools in the local area come in different sizes and budgets can be tight, therefore we can tailor packages that suit each individual school. After about 20 years working in PR and communications, I began a long process of change. It started when I joined Samaritans as a listening volunteer and began a BSc in Psychology. After completing an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Supervision it has culminated in my working in private practice as an integrative psychotherapist and supervisor in private practice. I am lucky. I truly love my work and am privileged that people share their vulnerabilities with me as they heal emotional and psychological wounds. I work from a warm and welcoming space in my garden. My garden room is surrounded by mature trees. One of the things I love about being there is listening to the breeze, and even the wind, blowing through the leaves. The sound is soothing. I slow down when I hear it and often find myself looking up to see the tops of the trees. Giving something back has always been important to me. I have volunteered in all sorts of roles, including on the door of The Gate Theatre in Noting Hill and making ‘Complan Cocktails’ for oncology patients. I left Samaritans after about six years and now work as a supervisor with Cruse, a charity supporting bereaved people. I created Space for You because I recognise that whatever our story, whatever the pressures and stresses we face, we all need a space to be. A space where we can express ourselves and be heard, where we are noticed buy not judged. Space for You personal development workshops offer exactly that. My adventure with massage started when, just out of curiosity, I took an Introduction to Massage Course in the School of Holistic Therapy, in Edinburgh at the end of 2015. To my big surprise, at the end of the course the principal tutor asked me if I’d like to take a Diploma course in Holistic Therapeutic Massage, since she liked the way I worked. I was able to start straight away, and what a great 10 months they were. I loved it, always looking forward till the next course weekend. I learned a lot of massage pain-relieving techniques (including myofascial release, neuromuscular techniques and stretching) as well as lots of anatomy, physiology and pathology. I also learnt a great deal about myself and the importance of listening and recognising not only physical but also emotional state of people we work with. If I had never got to work doing massage I would always be grateful for the opportunity to do this course. My only regret is that I didn’t do it earlier. It would have helped me a lot in difficult times which preceded my massage adventure. That was only the beginning. After taking my final exams, Simonetta, the principal tutor, offered me a job of a Teaching Assistant in her school and I’ve been working for her ever since. The more I learnt, the more I realised how much more there is to know. Hence my next step was Advanced Myofascial Release – in the same school. I find working with fascia (a connective tissue) really enjoyable. This kind of work is incredibly effective, not only on a physical but also an emotional level, and it’s definitely the kind of work I want to specialise in.
