I BELIEVE IN YOU In addition to the services offered for Wyss Training, Marcel & Patric are also involved in youth work at the Mittelland training base, where the two lead road and rail training for the next generation. In order to be able to take part in competitions with these athletes, the TSP Mittelland needs additional support. A crowdfunding campaign was set up on I Believe In You. Text by Swiss Cycling: Fabienne Buri was able to confirm her progress in the individual pursuit. The Emmental native lowered the Swiss record from 2003 by two-time Olympic time trial winner Karin Thürig over the distance of 3000 meters by a good three tenths to 3:33.242 minutes; the performance brought her 13th place. At the beginning of the season, she set herself the goal of improving the record, the 23-year-old from Oberburg announced. "Today my pacing was great and I'm just happy that I made it." Image: frontal vision Tim Rey shines with top international results Within two weeks, Tim achieved 5th place in the points race at the Track World Championships and 10th place at the renowned Junior Tour GP Rüebliland, two top results. After his corona illness at the end of June, which is why he also missed the European Championships on Track, his trainer Marcel Wyss trained with Tim for a week in Lenzerheide with a view to these upcoming competitions. These great successes confirm that it was right and important to start training again slowly and in a controlled manner after the illness. For such a young athlete, this requires a lot of patience. Now Tim is traveling to Australia for the Road World Championships! Tim in the points race at the track world championships. Image: Claudia Rey

Career Development Institute

Career development enables people to achieve their career and life goals, benefiting individuals, the economy and society. The CDI is proud to be the UK’s professional body for all aspects of career development, supporting our members to work to the highest standards and championing the profession. We encourage new entrants into the world of career development and help them get qualified to provide careers education, information, advice and guidance. We set standards for professional practice, including the CDI Code of Ethics, which are recognised by government, and provide resources and training for our members to continually develop. CDI members receive a wide range of benefits, from professional registration and training to connecting with fellow practitioners in our many communities, receiving regular magazines and updates and much more. We support research and thought leadership across the profession, hosting conferences that showcase the latest national and international thinking as well as producing key resources to inform practice from primary school through to adult provision. We also award the Careers Assured quality mark to recognise digital and CPD resources that meet practitioners’ needs. We champion the sector so that governments, employers and the public recognise the value that can be added to the worlds of education, skills and employment by supporting individuals through career transitions and equipping them with lifelong career development skills. We achieve this through our own work and by collaborating with UK and international organisations, including as part of the Career Development Policy Group, to share learning, align key policy positions and act together to raise the profile of career development. We provide consultancy services for a range of organisations, from governments to careers providers, local authorities to schools and colleges, as well as to suppliers to the profession. We offer a range of advertising and sponsorship opportunities to reach our members and their clients, as well as using our expertise to support you with consulting, qualification and development projects. All of this is achieved with our dedicated team [link], our Professional Standards Committee, expert Associates and volunteers, overseen by the CDI Board. We are bound by our governing documents and reinvest all surplus income into supporting our members and championing the sector.

Many of our current students have parents and even grandparents who attended the school and this link to the past is important to our ethos. One of the key aims of the school, supported by its current PRIDE values is to develop all our young people and provide the best education possible so they are able to become productive and fulfilled citizens who progress into positive working lives and careers. In order to do this we need to work in partnership with all parents/carers and community partners to offer the widest possible curriculum that develops personal and social skills and ensures they attain suitable qualifications to progress to positive destination after school. This means we must be here to celebrate the many successes of our young people but also be prepared to work with you and your young person when things go wrong and they need support and guidance to continue to develop and mature. Key to this is communication and transparency and I hope all who cross our doors experience a warm, caring positive environment, where relationships are fostered and we listen and react.

Aston

Anchor Point is a dynamic, one-of-a-kind community outreach and skills-training centre in Birmingham, a practical, caring response to the complex needs of inner city lives. Building on Betel UK’s 25-year track record as a national charity helping the marginalised, homeless and addicted, Anchor Point will address head-on the hardships of social exclusion, substance dependencies, family breakdown and unemployment in one of Britain’s most under-resourced urban wards. The three-fold vision is: to create a thriving community hub that integrates seven family-friendly businesses, each serving the public, that simultaneously deliver a range of employment skills and addictions- recovery training all under one roof. Anchor Point will offer a safe, welcoming environment to residents and university students of greater Aston where they can flourish. Hundreds will enjoy an impressive restaurant serving homemade food, drinks and baked goods, affordable arts performance and fitness training, a children’s softplay arena, a gender-neutral hair and nail salon, catered banqueting, plus multi-purpose meeting and conference facilities for hire. All these diverse activities inter-link, sharing one 40,000-square-foot building just outside the boundary of Birmingham’s Clear Air Zone. When compared to most other social inclusion models nationwide, Anchor Point’s multi-purpose skills training sets it apart as truly exceptional. All seven social enterprises will be staffed by recovering Betel residents, each a member of our successful, therapeutic, work-based recovery model. This means that Anchor Point not only promises essential socialising for scores of city-wide youths and families. But it will also serve as a healing, restorative workplace, helping men and women to break with substance and welfare dependencies alike. Together, the businesses will simultaneously train for future employment more than 60 men and women in the process of rebuilding their lives and families after years of life-controlling drugs and alcohol addictions, homelessness and criminal offending. Anchor Point revives the power of local community. It is a visionary investment in lives where restored men and women, now clean from addictive substances, re-build confidence and a vitally important work ethic as they “give back” to others. Inner city neighbours are likewise enriched, embracing old friends and new relationships in an atmosphere of belonging, leisure, learning and personal growth. The outcome? A swelling synergy of people’s potential, as one by one they are encouraged, equipped and empowered for purposeful new directions.
