The Dog First Aid Co. Ltd

the dog first aid co. ltd

Blyth

The Dog First Aid Co. Ltd was established in May 2020 by Registered Veterinary Nurse, Amy. Written in line with the latest RECOVER guidelines and fully compliant with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, Amy created informative Ofqual regulated & CPD accredited courses to educate all dog professionals and owners on a variety of canine emergencies. Amy started her veterinary career as an Auxiliary Nurse in 2011 prior to becoming a veterinary nursing student. Amy began her training in Preston, Lancashire in 2013 before qualifying as a Veterinary Nurse in 2015 and joining the RCVS Register of Veterinary Nurses in February 2016. Shortly after qualifying, Amy moved from first opinion general practice into emergency & critical care nursing and began her Certificate of Veterinary Nursing in Emergency & Critical Care – which she completed in 2019. Having worked in emergency & critical care medicine for some time alongside owning dogs of her own, Amy grew a passion for dog first aid and hopes that utilising her skills to educate pet professionals and owners, it will enable them to perform life saving care to their dog until they reach professional veterinary care. We have since welcomed Lauren to the team as a second course tutor. Lauren is also an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse as we believe veterinary based courses should only be taught by veterinary professionals who carry the necessary skillset and experience to teach the subject. The Dog First Aid Co. Ltd is CPD accredited and a registered training provider with iPET Network, which is an Awarding Organisation regulated by Ofqual, CCEA Regulation and Qualifications Wales, specialising in qualifications in the Canine and Feline sector.

KeepaBeat First Aid South West Yorkshire

Salisbury

I formed Keepabeat in 2007. My name is Sam Mackay and I’m a fully qualified Lifeguard and First Aid Trainer. I had a passion for teaching first aid and worked for several training companies on a freelance basis. I trained delegates from a wide range of backgrounds, including blue chip companies like House of Fraser, Sainsbury’s and Starbucks, but also local Childminders and Nannies. I developed as a trainer and realised that this was so much more than just a “job”. After having my daughter Ruby in 2012 my focus changed a little, however, it was very fortunate that I had learnt all those basic life saving skills, as Ruby certainly tested my knowledge! Realising that many Parents wouldn’t know what to do, or how to deal with a First Aid emergency, made me determined to pass on that knowledge. So, a new passion was born and teaching Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Babysitters, Childminders and Nannies basic first aid was my new mission. Working from a laptop in the front room and a car loaded with manikins, I worked hard to spread the KeepaBeat message, delivering Parent sessions and First Aid at work courses all over the UK. It soon became clear that I couldn’t do it alone! In 2016 KeepaBeat joined WOW World Group Ltd to develop KeepaBeat in to a Franchise opportunity so that we could deliver sessions and courses across the whole of the UK! If you are interested in either running your own KeepaBeat business or becoming a trainer for your local KeepaBeat please visit our KeepaBeat Franchise page here!

EVULVA is a health literacy platform used to promote education about vulvovaginal health and care at key intervention points. These stages include pre-puberty, puberty, fertility and family planning, peri-/menopause, and post-menopause. We are aiming to develop content that is customized to each user’s literacy level and to present information in a way that is culturally affirming, trans/queer-inclusive, and 100% FREE. 6/10 adults in the UK are unable to understand and act on health information Health literacy costs America an estimated 238 billion dollars annually and the economic health costs of poor health literacy in England is crudely estimated to be 4.95 billion annually. Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic/ Black and Indigenous People of Colour (BAME/BIPOC), trans/queer and other marginalized groups are disproportionately represented in these numbers, making this a human rights and public health issue. EVULVA is designed to improve health literacy and reduce these health inequalities through evidence-based research and the support of BAME/BIPOC community leaders and allied health professionals focusing on needs specific to culturally diverse groups. There are more than 5.8 million results when you type ‘vulvovaginal health’ into google. Some websites will have information that is too difficult for the reader to consume while others will underrepresent cultures, isolating people from obtaining life-saving information about their body. More than 4 in 10 adults in the UK struggle with health content. That number raises to 6 in 10 adults when numbers and statistics are added to health content. Many websites hypersexualise BAME/BIPOC groups adding another level of stress and deleteriously adding to decreased mental wellness around vulvovaginal health concern

1st ACT

Wickford

Thank you for visiting our website. This page is to help you understand a little more about our background and ethics. As the Managing Director & Lead Trainer of 1st ACT Ltd, my role is to co-ordinate the training, the syllabuses, the trainers and the venues to make your experience the best it can be. We've made changes over the last 10 years, all based on client feedback. My personal First Aid background goes back to 1990, when I joined the British Army and was being trained and fully prepared to serve in the golf war. First Aid is obviously a priority for all our military personnel, but when you feel it could be needed soon, it definitely makes you sit up and listen. At least it did with me, so much so that I wanted to know more and more about the amazing human body. After leaving the forces it appeared to me, to be a natural progression to enter into the Emergency Services, so after a few years with Wiltshire Fire Brigade I moved onto London Fire Brigade in 2000. With our First Aid knowledge and some with training backgrounds, my colleagues and I were asked to assess and then train First Aid for a few large companies based around the South East of England. I setup and established 1st ACT in April 2007 (becoming a Limited Company in April 2015) with the aim of making life saving skills affordable to all without dropping any of the high standards often found in larger organisations. With 1st ACT Ltd you still get the same wealth of experience and high level of training but at prices our competitors simply cannot come close to on Ofqual regulated courses!

We’re committed to our reputation as a swim school of the highest quality. We offer a modern alternative to traditional large group, summer swim lessons to make your child learn faster and have more fun. We have indoor classes year-round, and you can start any week of the year. To provide easy scheduling,* call us the week before you would like to start lessons to find the best level, class, and weekly time for your child; classes are once-weekly for 30 minutes. Once you start, we require that you commit to at least two full months of lessons because we want you to see a substantial improvement in your child’s skills and, more importantly, we want your child to retain the skills they learn. Payments are made easy from the start with monthly automatic payments taken from a credit card kept safely on file. After that initial enrollment, you never have to re-register; we will hold your child’s spot until you ask for a schedule change, your child graduates into the next level, or you need to take a break. One of the best things about our open enrollment scheduling is that your child can move up throughout our nine levels as soon as he/she is ready; we will never restrict your child’s learning because of age or time spent in a class. We love our advanced classes with four and five year-olds swimming the butterfly stroke! Then, if you need to take a break from lessons for any reason, you can stop your enrollment anytime with a 30-day written notice (needed to stop your payments and make sure your account is settled). Learning to swim does take time. It is a complex, but life-saving skill, and it is always worth learning. We promise to make the process easy for you and fun for your child. You don’t have to take our word for it—see for yourself with a FREE Trial Lesson today! *Since we are a specialty school that provides only swim lessons, all of our efforts are focused on making classes and experiences great. World Cancer Research Fund

London

World Cancer Research Fund is a UK charity that examines how diet, weight and physical activity affect your risk of developing and surviving cancer. On this page > Our work > Our values > Our Expert Reports > Our policy work > Raising awareness > How we operate As part of an international network of charities, we’ve been funding life-saving research, influencing global public health policy and informing the public since 1982. While society continues to search for a cure, our prevention and survival work helps people to live longer, happier and healthier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer. Since 1990, World Cancer Research Fund has invested more than £110m in cancer prevention and survival research. And it’s all thanks to our amazing supporters! Around 40% of cancers in the UK could be prevented – that’s nearly 155,000 cases every year. Eating a healthy diet, being more active each day and maintaining a healthy weight are, after not smoking, the most important ways you can reduce your cancer risk. Our work A cornerstone of our research is the Global Cancer Update Programme. It’s the world’s largest source of scientific research on cancer prevention and survival through diet, weight and physical activity. In autumn 2022, we published our review of evidence on how a woman’s risk of dying after a breast cancer diagnosis is affected by her weight, diet and physical activity. We translate the results of our research into accurate, accessible, easy-to-understand information. By funding research and delivering health information programmes – such as Living with cancer, for cancer survivors, and Eat Move Learn for children and families – we empower people to make healthier lifestyle choices. When World Cancer Research Fund was established, scientific research into the links between diet and cancer was in its infancy. Since then, our network has funded millions in cancer prevention research and awareness-raising programmes. Now all mainstream scientists accept that diet, weight and physical activity can affect our risk of cancer and people are more aware of how their lifestyle plays a role.

defibshop

defibshop

Manchester

Defibshop was born in 2005. At this point people really did not know what a defibrillator was, despite it being common place in countries like America. If it was going to happen here in the UK we’d need to educate people about what an AED was, when they should be used, how important they were in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest, the impact of using one to the casualty and how easy they are to use whether you are trained or not. For many years it has been an uphill struggle to educate people about defibrillators. Common objections include “Is it law to have one?” and “we’ve never needed one so far so why should I buy one?”, but, after years of education in the importance of early CPR and defibrillation in the event of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), some changes in legislation, high profile incidents and saves by defibs such as Fabrice Muamba in 2012 and Christian Erikson in 2021, as well as the introduction of defibrillator training within workplace first aid courses, these units are now a natural extension of first aid provision. Today we have a highly knowledgeable team working to ensure the correct defibrillator is placed in the correct environment. All defibs deliver a shock of course, but it is important to take the environment into account as models vary and offer different functions. We have also been working with the British Heart Foundation to promote The Circuit, the UK’s national defibrillator network that is linked directly to the 999 ambulance response service and enables the operator to send a caller to the nearest available registered defibrillator, so potentially saving valuable minutes and saving more lives. Please register your unit if you have not done so already. We continue to put pressure on the Government to pass the proposed Automated External Defibrillator Public Access Bill to legislate defibrillators that are accessible to all in public places. Without this, people are going to continue to die from sudden cardiac arrest because there wasn’t a unit close enough to hand. That could happen to any one of us. After you've purchased your life-saving AED, our commitment doesn't end there. As part of our FREE pad and battery reminder service, we will contact you when your consumables are due to expire, so you have plenty of time to replace them and ensure your device is always ready for use.
