Central to FIX Trading Community’s work is the continuous development and promotion of the FIX family of standards, including the core FIX Protocol messaging language, which has revolutionised the trading environment and has successfully become the way the world trades. As an industry-driven organisation, all FIX Trading Community initiatives are pursued in response to market participant requests. This work is organised through a global network of committees, subcommittees and working groups that attract colleagues, peers and competitors who work together in a collaborative manner, free from commercial conflict, and in a way rarely witnessed in the capital markets to address core industry challenges. These efforts are supported by a small team of resources based in New York, Hong Kong and London. FIX Trading Community was previously known as FIX Protocol Ltd (and this remains its full legal entity name). Since its launch in 1998, the organisation has achieved tremendous success, developing and encouraging adoption of the FIX messaging standard. However, in recent years, whilst the continuous enhancement and promotion of FIX has remained a core goal, the organisation was also successfully leading work exploring how other non-proprietary, free and open standards could effectively support evolving needs. This led to the belief that the existing brand, no longer truly reflected the many ways in which the organisation supports the industry, nor the countless opportunities that actively participating in this vibrant community presents. All professional drivers of large goods vehicles must have a Driver Qualification Card, or DQC. There are a small number of exemptions, but essentially if you’re driving an HGV / LGV (licence categories C, C1, C1+E or C+E), then Driver CPC is a legal obligation. Professional PCV drivers with equivalent licences are also required to hold a DQC. Ongoing requirement Whether the initial DQC was gained as part of the drivers’ initial licence acquisition or by attending Driver CPC training courses, Driver CPC is an ongoing requirement. It is mandated by EU law (Directive 2003/59) and is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of drivers, as well as enhancing safety on our roads. The requirement for Driver CPC has not changed as a result of Brexit and there are no Government plans to do so – the relevant regulations pass into UK law. We believe that done well, Driver CPC training makes a positive contribution to the road transport industry, supporting the ongoing professional development of the drivers who make such a valuable contribution to our society. What must a driver do? Each DQC is valid for five years from the date of issue. This means that – unlike the 2014 deadline set when Driver CPC was introduced – each driver’s renewal date is unique to them. All drivers must undertake 35 hours’ periodic training before the end of the five years following the issue date on their DQC. If the training is not undertaken during that time, they will not be permitted to drive professionally until they have completed their 35 hours. The best way to ensure that a DQC doesn’t lapse is to carry out at least one day’s mandatory periodic training every year. To check your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) training record, visit the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency website. The consequences If a driver is caught driving commercially without their Driver Qualification Card: Both driver and operator face fines of up to £1000 Driver suspended from driving commercially until training is completed Possible reduction in driving workforce, and operations adversely affected If operations are affected, your reputation with customers could be damaged If convicted, operator’s OCRS rating will drop to red Likely increase in insurance premiums What should I look for in Driver CPC training? When choosing your Driver CPC training provider, look for a wide range of relevant topics for drivers to choose from. This keeps the training useful, interesting and engaging. Look out for interactive elements, such as videos, quizzes and feedback sessions, which will benefit drivers, and add real value to the training.

The Island Project

The Island Project School was set up to provide a school for children and young people with autism. It was founded by parents whose children had previously been taught at home using Applied Behaviour Analysis ("ABA"). Without functional communication, adults with autism can be isolated from their family, community and even carers. Without clear and early intervention, children and young people may grow into adults with no communication or independence skills meaning that they become the most dependent, and sadly most vulnerable group whilst needing the largest amount of support. If, as a school, we can give young people a means of communication plus independence skills, we can give them a better quality of life, whilst reducing their long term dependence upon their community. Unfortunately, whilst Local Authorities have a legal obligation to provide appropriate education for all children, they do not have the space, funding, or expertise to provide appropriate education for all pupils, particularly those with complex communication needs and associated difficulties, or for those who have ABA on their EHC Plans In the West Midlands, there were no ABA schools when the Island Project was founded, and this remains largely the case. The School was founded using the principles of ABA, and the Pyramid Approach to Education which gives pupils an effective means of communication using the Picture Exchange System. The School recognises that having an effective means of communication, putting in place strategies around managing sensory difficulties, and the development of independence skills are key to enabling children and young people to successfully access education and a better quality of life in the future. In recognition of this, all pupils at the School have input from a Multi Disciplinary Team which includes Behaviour Analysts, Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists specialising in Sensory Integration. The School originated with three pupils in a small unit in Balsall Common. The Schoo was founded as a charity, and within a few years, had outgrown its original building and moved to new premises at Diddington Hall in Meriden.

How much do the courses cost? Dan Lee Training costs are inclusive of all accommodation, mileage and subsistence costs - therefore you pay a half day or flat fee depending on the costs incurred - example costs: Local area (Devon) - half day £280 - Full day £400 - 500 UK- full day rate £650 - 750 Courses outside the UK will incur costs to cover travel, accommodation and a flat day rate for the days of travel to and from the venue. Bespoke courses will cost a little more but that is identified at the initial discussion of your needs. Certificates All courses offered are provided with Dan Lee Training Certificates. We can arrange for courses to be delivered to accredited award body standard. All Aviation Security Courses are provided with a DfT/CAA approved certificate and training record What makes you different from all the other training companies? Dan Lee is a fully qualified trainer (Cert Ed) and is an award winning training designer. He prides himself on delivering quality training and never does 'death by powerpoint' type training. On the rare occasions that Dan Lee Training uses other trainers as associates he makes sure that they too can deliver the courses to the same standard. Why doesn't Dan Lee Training do accredited training? In our history we have been accredited by the CIEH and IOSH but have found the value that these accreditations bring does not justify the costs of setting up and maintaining the administration. Dan Lee is qualified to write and deliver all training courses. You can rest assured that the content will meet the legal requirement that you need to comply with. Why don't you do IATA Dangerous Goods by Air training? It's not that we can't - we could - but we don't agree with the prescriptive manner of how the course is required to be delivered by IATA and the UK's CAA. The IATA DG course does not allow for a qualified trainer to deliver the course in the manner that they deem appropriate. Until they do - Dan Lee Training won't put their name to their list. Remember, we don't do boring training.
