All of our classes are delivered by Azizzum and Tanveer Akhtar. They have over 40 years combined Martial Arts experience and hold 3rd degree Black Belts in Tae-Kwon-Do and Kickboxing under Master Shabir Akhtar (renowned throughout the U.K as one of the leading Instructors and practitioners of Martial Arts in the U.K ) Azizzum and Tanveer have trained in many different martial arts including Wing Chun, Thai Kick Boxing, Kung Fu and MMA. Although our classes are built on the fundamental art of Tae Kwon Do and Kickboxing, principles from many other art have been blended into our system. Being a proficient Martial Artist is not the same as being a proficient Martial Arts teacher. Our highly qualified Instructors fall into both categories and both have over 15 years experience of teaching adults and children. They are also CRB checked and adhere to stringent safeguarding principles. We believe that people work best in a friendly, comfortable atmosphere. We welcome people of all skill levels to Aktive Martial Arts and we enjoy seeing our students improve week on week whilst also enjoying our time in the gym.

Lisa McVeigh The Academy was established in 2008 by joint sponsors Sir David Samworth and the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham. Their vision was to create an inclusive place where people and students come first and where students can be educated holistically as well as academically and leave prepared for a long and happy adult life – 70 plus great years. Our emphasis and exploration of our Christian values, as well as our membership of the international Round Square organisation, encourages students to ‘Be The Best They Can Be’ and to explore their own (perhaps hidden) talents and potential in a wide range of ways. Our beautiful and lovingly cared for campus houses a range of sometimes unexpected facilities including a climbing wall, high ropes course, Dance Studio and Drama Pod, a Combined Cadet Force, a fully functioning hairdressing salon and well populated animal care unit. We are also committed to delivering the best academic education we can for our young people and to training and supporting our teachers to be the best and most innovative teachers they can be. Our teaching facilities are modern and well-equipped and we are always looking for ways to improve them further. We know how important day to day information is when getting to know a new school. Our ‘School Life’ page will provide you with information on equipment, uniform and our school day to give you a feel of life at Brinsworth Academy. The School Day Each day is split up into 5 different lessons. You will also have morning guidance at the start of your day. You will have to move around the academy site for each subject. Don’t worry, you will quickly learn where each teaching block is and you will get lots of exercise walking between lessons!
