West Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre

Yorkshire

It is a huge pleasure and privilege to welcome you to West Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC). We are a community special school, under the organisation of Leeds City Council. We have 242 learners on roll. The SILC welcomes learners who are aged between 2-19 years with an EHCP which is generic in classification. I am extremely proud to lead a school that caters for a wide range of Special Educational Needs in a truly bespoke and individual manner. Our pupils have varying needs such as CMLN (Complex and Multiple Learning Needs), moderate or severe learning difficulties, social, emotional mental health needs (SEMH) or autism. Everything we do at West SILC is based around the individual and their needs, offering them specific environments at one of our 5 sites is key to being inclusive and individual. Our pupils grow in all aspects of their lives through their time spent with us and leave us as more confident, independent and happy young people ready to access the next stage of their lives. The relationships our staff have with our pupils and their families is at the core of all the work we do, we recognise that the work we do is not solely based in the classroom or at school and it is a lifelong learning journey we are support our young people on. The school has a governing body which supports and challenges the Principal to guide the future direction of the school. West SILC is a regional centre of excellence for the MOVE programme, which supports our learners with physical disabilities to develop functional skills for everyday life – sitting, standing and for some, even walking. We provide outreach to other schools to develop these programmes.

The Campion School

Hornchurch

The Campion School aims to be an outstanding Roman Catholic school with a strong and united community in which everyone contributes to the school’s religious and educational objectives. The school was established by the Society of Jesus in 1962 and it bears the name of one of the most famous English Jesuits who was martyred for the Faith in 1581, Edmund Campion, S.J. The school has developed its own distinctive Catholic ethos and traditions, building on those first endowed upon it by the Jesuits. It seeks to draw on the long-established Jesuit educational ideals of a Catholic community in which endeavour and opportunity lead students to the highest levels of achievement. The most recent Diocesan and Ofsted inspections described the school as an ‘outstanding Catholic school’ and a ‘good school with many outstanding features’. We are proud of our successes and have ambitious plans to develop and improve the school further. “Success and personal endeavour are encouraged, rewarded and celebrated. There is a strong ethos of not only wanting to do well but about being proud of doing so.” We have a long-standing tradition of providing a rich and varied curriculum to stimulate and interest students. Each individual is given the appropriate support to achieve their full potential. For example, students who are particularly gifted or talented may be offered courses operated by the London Borough of Havering and during lessons they are often given extension work to stretch and challenge. In 2019, our Year 11 students achieved excellent GCSE results, with 89% achieving grade 4 and above in English and mathematics. Furthermore, 43% of students achieved the EBacc. The numbers achieving two good grades in science and at least one good grade in a modern foreign language are also very high by local and national comparisons.

Feed Eat Speak

I am Stacey Zimmels and I'm the owner of Feed Eat Speak. I set it up this company so that I could help families and children to get the help they need when they need it most. I now work independently after almost 20 years in NHS positions. I currently hold an honorary contract the NHS Royal Brompton Hospital in London, having lead their Paediatric Speech Therapy service for the last 8 years. I continue to do some Locum clinical work there as well as clinical research. I'm one of those really lucky people who get out bed each day and goes to work because I love what I do. Helping you and your little ones is a real pleasure and passion for me (that's honestly true). I understand just how stressful and awful it is to have a child who can't or won't eat. It can often feel like no one is listening and that there is no one out there who can help. It can be very worrying to have a child who is different to their peers and to feel desperately hopeful that they will just 'catch up' but deep down you’re concerned that may not be the case. It's hard to find someone you can trust. If this sounds familiar then contact me. I offer a no obligation, free 15 minute phone consultation where you can discuss any concerns you have and see if your child would benefit from speech therapy or a feeding consultation. I provide and deliver the feeding and swallowing and breastfeeding support services and I have a small team of highly experienced speech therapists who can support all areas of speech, language and communication development.

My WordPress BlogWhat is Sustainable Performance? Sustainable performance is about building up your energy, and your resources, over time, instead of burning out, missing family time, or feeling misaligned with your values, or anything that matters to you. It’s about making small steps but regular progress towards your goals to attain a stronger sense of achievement & contentment overall. Sustainable Performance is about knowing yourself and letting your biology and uniqueness work for you rather than against you. SIGNUP FOR NEWS Emotional Safety in Business Unhappy employees lead to unserviced customers and unrewarded investors. Gallup – one of the biggest management consulting companies – identified in their study in over 142 countries this dreadful correlation between 👉performance, engagement & well-being👈 87% of workers report low engagement, low well-being & low performance. This translates into 1.2 billion disengaged workers around the globe. This has had a direct impact on employees’ ability to adapt to a fast-changing work environment, on their capacity to find creative solutions and anticipate forthcoming events. Lack of engagement impacts the overall team dynamics, productivity and capacity to care for each other. It also potentially increases misunderstandings, frustrations and conflicts. The live Q&A sessions Each week we cover one of the key elements of Sustainable Performance, with the purpose to reverse the vicious circle of low engagement, low well-being & low performance, into a virtuous uplifting one. The calls are limited in number so everyone has a chance to talk & make progress towards their goals (aka get more things done) whether it’s unlocking their performance at work, saving time for family, or anything else that matters to you really. It’s also an opportunity to help other participants or get inspired by them 😉 Weekly live calls currently take place on Mondays.

Launceston

V Learning Network is a charitable company originally set up in 2001 as the lead of a consortium created to deliver adult and young people mainstream funded education. The consortium was made up of independent training providers in the Third Sector throughout Devon and Cornwall. In August 2021, due to some changes in funding, the nature and focus of the company shifted slightly. We are used to working in a proactive and agile way so have been able to adapt, evolve and innovate, and continue to do so. To fit the growing needs of the business and to strengthen our brand identity, we have changed the company name to V Learning Network trading as Step into Learning – Step Into Learning will be the sole, public facing name used across all our touchpoints going forwards. We still offer young people mainstream funded education and we currently work with three charities and Community Interest Groups (The Outdoor Place, Transferable Skills Training, Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change), enabling them to deliver high quality training by providing sustainable funding. The funding allows our partners to offer a range of training opportunities and deliver quality programmes within Cornwall. Step Into Learning also delivers quality, in-house training, projects and services via its own training division. Step Into Learning is based in Launceston, Cornwall, however, our reach extends much further. We offer training across Devon and Cornwall and have the scope to cover any geographical location due to our flexible delivery – face to face, blended learning (mix of face to face and online) and online. Step Into Learning specialise in working with learners looking to open up new career pathways, or those looking to get back into work. We are committed to giving back to our local community: * SILC is our counselling service providing free, confidential counselling for the Launceston community. * Our community larder for Launceston opened in May 2022. The focus of the community larder is reducing food waste and giving local people access to nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste.
