Pitman Training’s Leicester team is led by Chris Wyle an experienced Trainer with experience of working with individuals at all levels, from job seekers, promotion hunters and high flyers to senior staff looking to sharpen the saw. Chris also runs Pitman’s Birmingham, Nottingham , Sheffield. Cardiff, Cambridge & Clapham offices and so you can be assured that his knowledge and experience will help your training journey with us to run smoothly. Look out for Sehnaz and Mandeep, they are most likely the first people you’ll meet or speak to. Tim is also our friendly course advisor, they know our courses inside out and can help you decide on the training plan most suitable to get you from where you are to where you want to be. They will offer advice and guidance on the jobs market to, ensuring that your skills will be the ones that’s employers are looking for. We offer a range of skills for work courses that allow our learners to improve their job prospects. We also offer Access to Higher Education for people who want to go on to University. These courses are designed for adults who are looking for work, progression in current employment or a career change. Youth Education Project is a Not for Profit Social Enterprise based in Leicester city centre. We provide a diverse learning environment that offers direct support to help young people to develop transferable skills and explore potential employment or further training opportunities. YEP assists young people to help them make informed and positive decisions about their own future. We aim to provide young people with independent living skills, and this is achieved through pastoral support and a range of vocational and academic courses.

On occasion, we are asked by prospective students about our background and how and where we started. To put things simply, students want to know more about us before they decide whether to select us as their distance learning provider. And who can blame them! The initial idea of setting up UK Open College was the brainchild of our director Bill Nicholls. After many years of working within an education and in particular the distance learning sector. Bill gained a thorough understanding of exactly what students were looking for when embarking on their home study journey. After years of speaking and dealing directly with distance learning students, it was soon established exactly what it was that students required. The main three factors were to offer the opportunity to study anywhere, anytime, offer true flexibility and to ensure any offering was affordable to the majority of students. After all, there is no point in providing all of this if it was then unaffordable. These three factors soon became the morals and ethics of the whole company.
