Wing Chun Kung Fu is a close quarter Chinese fighting system first seen demonstrated in the West by movie star legend Bruce Lee. It was brought from China to Hong Kong in 1949 by Bruce Lee’s teacher, Grandmaster Ip Man (aka Yip man). Wing Chun was created by Shaolin nun, Ng Mui, in the 17th century and named after her first student, Yim Wing Chun. It has been passed on and developed by successive masters to become what it is today, a unique fighting system. It is characterised by using the most direct lines for attack and defence and combines explosive punches, elbows, palms, chops and mid to low section kicks. What is Kamon Wing Chun? Kamon Wing Chun was founded by Master Kevin Chan in 1992. Kamon Wing Chun is built on the solid roots of Ip Man Wing Chun and is firmly rooted in the complete classical Wing Chun system. It believes in the importance of heritage, preservation of the art, the philosophy and the deep rooted culture. However, Kamon’s philosophy incorporates progression and evolution of the art. Who is Kevin Chan? Kevin Chan is the Master of the Kamon Martial Arts Federation and a life member of the Yip Man Martial Arts Association. Kevin is UK born Chinese, he started HaKa style Kuen Mo in 1979 at 11 years old with his uncle in Hong Kong. Since then he has practised; Gung Lik Kune, Tong Long (Mantis), both Boxing and Thai Boxing, Wrestling, BJJ and he has been a Wing Chun practitioner since 1987. Kevin has trained under Steve Mair and Sam Kwok and with Ip Chun and Mark Hyland amongst others in Wing Chun. Kevin is recognised as a leading expert in international Wing Chun today. a-jing Ch’uan Internal Chinese Boxing School was founded in 2002 by Nasser Butt - Senior Instructor and student of Erle Montaigue (Masters Degree, China). Our aim is simple: To reintroduce the destructive power of Martial Taijiquan ( Tai Chi Chuan ) as its founders intended it to be - for combat, alongside Baguazhang and Xingyiquan and other traditional Chinese Kung Fu Systems. Our methods are simple and realistic, yet, brutally effective! Powered by fa-jing (explosive energy), the motor of the internal arts and utilising our knowledge of Dim-Mak, inherent within the system, we learn how to repeatedly attack the most vulnerable points of the human body to devastating effect! From day one we learn about distance, timing, balance, co-ordination and natural body movement, through a myriad of single and two person drills, as well as the classical forms. We learn how to gain and develop fa-jing over a short distance, as well as how to access and utilise our reptilian brain in order to survive. Through hard training we develop an understanding of the martial principles “hidden” behind the forms as opposed to learning “exotic” techniques, which can and will lose you fights! That's why a majority of martial artists fail against good street fighters! Techniques are for the dojo... behind every technique is an underlying principle, it is this that one needs to absorb, after which the technique becomes redundant! Most martial artists, unfortunately, never get beyond the technique! If one understands the principles, thoroughly, then they will no longer have the need to remember techniques as the body will move instinctively and deal with the threat appropriately. By preparing the body for combat, we become healthier, physically and mentally, as well as internally and externally. This is how the legendary healing powers of Taijiquan ( Tai Chi chuan ) can be achieved.

Shi-han Sensei Louis Casamassa, a 10th degree black belt is Grand Master of Red Dragon Karate and founder of the American Karate Kung Fu Federation (A.K.K.F.). He originated the American Form style. During the 60’s he traveled extensively throughout the Orient studying many different styles of martial arts. In keeping with yankee ingenuity and American tradition he took the best 7 major martial arts forms and combined them into one new powerful and effective style which is known as the Red Dragon style of martial arts. Red Dragon is a true “American Original.” Founded in 1965 by former U.S. Marine Corp military police officer and 10th degree black belt, Louis D. Casamassa. V.I.P.A is not a static system as is Karate, Kung Fu or Judo for example. By static I mean something that has not changed over a period of time, something that has not kept up with modern threats and combat found in today's modern world. If the Instructor is not teaching a street application then they are teaching a 'Do' a 'Way' to reach inner harmony, a way to overcome yourself and become a better person, a form of meditation. This in itself is a noble endeavour and for those looking for that path then these martial arts a fantastic path to tread. As a combat system V.I.P.A is also a 'Way' but it is a way for warriors not martial artists, it is also not the only 'Way' it is only one path with ideas, philosophies, treaties, strategies, tactics and techniques gained over 40 years of combatives study. Having said that, it is a highly effective method of combat. V.I.P.A embraces change, evolvement and open mindedness. From its conception in 1988 V.I.P.A has evolved and continues to evolve as threats and evironments change. From the streets of Northern Ireland to training for possible combat against Russian Spetsnaz Special Forces to the 1991 Gulf War and beyond, V.I.P.A has adapted to its environment and continues to do so with civilian, police and close protection applications. V.I.P.A is in reality a sphere of influence and at its centre are the Core Concepts, the vital skills that are required of any means of combat. There is nothing new in the skills of the Core Concepts, many people practice them as part of a whole system of combat or as part of their own cross training program. The Core Concepts are only a means to an end. The means are the strategies, tactics and techniques themselves. The end, well that has many forms, is it to win in your next street encounter, not to get into any encounters at all, to protect your family, safely detain a suspect or win and live on the battlefield and in harmony after the battle is over. The only real end result is what you as an individual are training for.

We genuinley believe that in developing an individual both physically and mentally, they will reap the rewards in every aspect of their lives and it's because of this we are dedicated to not only producing excellent martial artists but outstanding members of the community. Budokai simply means "many styles" and as can be seen from the instructor profiles below, the main instructors all come from different backgrounds. Martial Arts are all essentially the same as there are only so many ways to perform a kick or a punch, however, there are subtle differences between styles which help people of varying abilities to perform each technique. With the wealth of experience that we are now gaining as an organisation there are very few techniques, if any, that can't be taught to people of any level. Whether they saw it on the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, on the Power Rangers, or on Yu Gi Oh, children today have been exposed to martial arts from an early age. From karate to kung fu, martial arts provide a powerful workout, but some parents worry that these sports are too violent for children. While it is true that martial arts originated as fighting systems in Asia, today's martial arts provide children with physical exercise, a chance to gain self confidence, an opportunity to interact with others, and worthwhile lessons in self defence. For children of all ages, martial arts are an exciting alternative to more traditional sports. We teach karate, or empty hand, which is perhaps the most well known martial art. Karate is a Japanese discipline used for self defence. In addition to throws and blocks, karate also incorporates punches and kicks as well as weapons. Karate competitions take place at all levels across the UK, and more information can be found from the British Karate Association. No matter in which martial arts your children become interested, all martial arts build confidence, encourage self control, motivate self esteem, and teach self defence. Martial arts are also incredibly safe when taught in an appropriate school, and all qualified instructors will be more than happy to share their qualifications and training philosophies. GWMA is a mixed martial arts system which is based in Mountsorrel Leicestershire. As a mixed martial art, GWMA’s main influences are Shotokan/Goshin Ryu karate with elements of Kung Fu. Gavin Walker is the chief instructor with 34 years’ experience in martial arts and has been running his classes for 10 years. We believe that learning martial arts should be an enjoyable experience and can benefit anyone in the following ways: 1. Self-Discipline – One of the central tenets of martial arts is a focus on self-discipline. Today’s kids are so accustomed to receiving instant gratification that lessons in self-restraint and discipline aren’t always easy to come by.
