Hi there, I’m Jerome Griffin and I’m the creative driving force behind SuperKid Stories. Writing has been a passion of mine since before I could read, matched at that time only slightly by football, dinosaurs and jumping in puddles! A slight exaggeration perhaps, but you get the point! Ever since I discovered the magic that can be shared in a book I have been obsessed with the art of storytelling.

We offer weekly classes to young people aged 9 - 15 and adults aged 16-39 that include regular sparing, boxing drills and skills and fitness. We also provide women-only and family workout classes, 1-2-1 and personal training sessions for adults and children on Saturdays as well as dedicated sparring classes.

This is a challenge I've wanted to face for a while now but never followed through with, until now! I really wanted to learn martial arts as a kid, but thought it wasn't possible with my disability. Now knowing there is a charity out there that provides training for adaptive individuals, I wanted to do something to help. Charities like this are pivotal for their wellbeing and purpose, and to learn vital life skills such as confidence, focus, discipline and respect, especially during early stages.

My 3.5yr old has been going to Simply Technique for about a year now. Her confidence has soared, her love of music has strengthened and her rhythm is impeccable. She loves class, has developed amazing friendships and adores her teachers

little art school

At the Little Art School we put nurturing and confidence building at the heart of our classes. The course has been designed to build self-esteem in children and the environment our classes are held in have an ambience of calm and gentleness which helps the children to relax and encourages their creativity. As children get older they begin to be more self-critical and much more self-conscious. At the Little Art School we have only one rule: we don’t allow children to be highly critical of their work, there are no “Mine’s Rubbish!!” uttered in the class. At the end of each class every child is encouraged to point out which part of their painting or drawing they are particularly pleased with. At the start of their time with us some of the older children find this quite difficult, preferring to avoid ridicule by denigrating their work. However, as the weeks go by, they understand that this is an environment where the ability to look for the positive is actively encouraged. They become much more able to search for what they like in their work and they begin to see the painting in a different, infinitely more positive, way. By searching for the positive aspects of their art their perception of the work transforms. We also encourage the children to praise the work of their classmates. For older children this can be difficult at first, the need to look ‘cool’ at the latter end of the time a primary school only intensifies in secondary school.

I started running 'Creative Maker' sessions in 2019 after several years spent working in Italy and raising a family. My passion lies in creating textured, abstract acrylic painting, oil pastel drawing and I enjoy exploring mosaics. My work has featured in several local exhibitions where I have also won awards. With over over 10 years of experience and expertise working with children creatively, the sessions are a free exploration of methods and materials. Children (and adults) are free to make choices, and then change their minds - there is no right or wrong, just safe practise and exciting art discoveries. At Cherished Blossoms, we provide children activities in an environment where they can be free to explore, learn and engage without limits. Cherished Blossoms, operated by Cynthia Jackson and a team of creative artists and teachers, is currently based in Kumasi, Ghana. A home educator of two active and creative souls who loves playing, drawing and having the opportunity to play computer games (what kid in our current times doesn't appreciate a bit of crazy Minecraft character creation). Our days involve studying and exploring (with the encouragement of self-directed play) and creating experiences, whether artistically or venturing out to exciting places. Sometimes, the word 'I'm bored' pops into the day, and no matter how many things you buy to appease them, it is never enough. Still, that time of 'boredom' is essential for a wind-down or an excellent opportunity to practice mindfulness and recharge and relax to stimulate the mind creatively. I understand much better now that they learn best through creative activities and imaginative play.
