the birchall trust

The charity originally called South Cumbria Rape and Abuse Service (SCRAS), was established by Christine Birchall in 1991 as a community response to the lack of support for rape and sexual abuse victims in the local area. It originally operated as an entirely volunteer based organisation supported by community fundraising. The organisation has successfully developed into an established service provider, whilst still retaining its original ethos and local identity. All of our staff are qualified to the relevant level and counsellors are registered with BACP/BAPT – if required clients can request to view training certificates or accreditation awards to verify competency. We are a registered charity (number: 1109637), and a company limited by guarantee (number: 5424196) ●We provide face to face and remote trauma informed counselling services ● We deliver play therapy, creative and sand tray therapy for children aged 4 and above ●We offer pre-trial therapy sessions to adults and children whilst involved in the criminal justice process ●We work with parents, carers, families, and friends of people affected by rape, sexual abuse, or sexualised violence ●We hold groups, peer support sessions and offer outdoor therapies ●We deliver educational programmes, training, and consultancy to other agencies – voluntary and statutory ●We have online digital information and resources ●We raise awareness of the wider issues around rape, sexual abuse, or sexualised violence within our community

Welcome to our new Hillhead Cricket Club website, created for us by our friends at Scottish Print We are proud and privileged to be a component part of Hillhead Sports Club whose grounds here at Hughenden date from the opening of the clubhouse of the Hillhead High School War Memorial Trust in May 1924. All our committee, playing members and members are looking forward to our first Season in the WDCU Division 1 in season 2022. It has taken us a long time to be promoted and we hope that we can do ourselves justice in what is certain to be a highly competitive league.

In my work life I trained as a mediator and practiced in a variety of contexts including criminal justice, family work and training peer mediators in schools. As a member of the national team of Organisational Change Facilitators with Action for Children I completed advanced facilitation training with circleindigo. In 2018 I achieved my long time ambition to complete an MA in Creative Writing and during that year also formalised my use of Philosophy for Communities facilitation through SAPERE accredited training. A year working with Ignite Imaginations in community and partictipatory arts provided the practical element of my creative apprenticeship.

Established in June 2014, we believe it is important for young people, to be informed about criminal laws that could affect them. We believe that if they understand criminal offences, the risks and consequences of certain activities, police powers and their rights as individuals this will help them to make better decisions, and prevent them becoming involved in the criminal justice system.

Photojournalism Hub trains disadvantaged communities to use photojournalism as a tool for positive impact in their lives. Photojournalism Hub has developed a programme called Citizen Visual Journalism which is designed to provide visual journalism training to community groups and individuals who experience isolation, disadvantage, prejudice and/or social injustices issues. The model allow them to speak about their social justice issues through high quality photographs and reporting skills, as well as it improves their wellbeing and work/education opportunities. Photojournalism Hub works within the community and formally and informally organises Open Forums, conversations with local communities with the aim to share knowledge and make appropriate recommendations on issues that are relevant to them.
