The Home Artist Academy is dedicated to providing Art Workshop courses through the use of online learning, with our easy to follow videos, printable written instructions and support. The courses we provide use video learning techniques to bring the Artist teaching experience to wherever you are, while also ensuring you have all the resources, guides and progression steps available to be able to learn, create and be inspired. Our Artist Karen Underwood (Certified Jenkins Certified Art Teacher) & (Certified One Stroke Teacher) has been working within the eLearning and Education sector for well over 10 years and has been studying Fine Art for almost as long. These two seemingly unrelated skills came together over the course of a few years while Karen was teaching Art, the thought of creating a place where Artists could go to learn and share thoughts with others, while absolutely anywhere. This thought ultimately created the Home Artist Academy, a place where Artists of all experience can take their time to study Art and being able to fit this around their busy lives.

At SlamFresh, we believe poetry can make a big difference to young people’s lives. But the need to create a nurturing and supportive environment in which to write has never been greater. Although the popularity of the art form, particularly spoken word, continues to grow on an unprecedented scale, last year, for the first time in our country’s history, poetry was nearly made an optional GCSE subject. As well as this, the recent closure of schools has meant that young people from lower economic backgrounds have been put at an even greater disadvantage than they already were. Cut off from schools, many of these young people simply have not had the space or resources to access creative opportunities, at a time when they need them more than ever. SlamFresh is a CIC based in the Newcastle upon Tyne which aims to address these problems. We run workshops that focus on the contemporary styles of spoken word and slam poetry, styles of writing which we have found can engage some of the most reluctant students. SlamFresh work in partnership with schools and community centres to mentor young people in writing, editing and performance. We have 3 company directors, Rowan McCabe, Michael MacDonald and Jeff Price. Rowan McCabe and Michael MacDonald (stage name Donald Jenkins) also serve as the two primary facilitators for the workshops, although guests may be brought in on a freelance basis where required. The directors met through their work as professional poets. Collectively, they have spent over 40 years working with children and young people.

From the Edinburgh Hat Studio, award-winning Scottish milliner and hat maker Sally-Ann Provan creates bespoke handmade hats, headpieces, & bridal millinery for weddings (the bride, her family & guests), Royal Ascot, Henley Royal Regatta, investitures, Royal garden parties, special occasions, stage & screen. For every event and and everyday! Sally showed for two seasons at London Fashion Week in her own catwalk show, and her work and inspirations are featured in four books. She is also featured in the main film in the 'Fashion and Style' gallery at the National Museums of Scotland, and created a headpiece which was shown in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery as part of the stunning 'Beauty By Design' exhibition. She is a V&A Dundee Design Champion. Her hats have graced the heads several members of the Royal Family including HRH The Duchess of Cambridge; HRH Princess Beatrice; HRH Princess Eugenie; Zara Tindall; and Autumn Phillips, and other clients include First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, mezzo soprano Katherine Jenkins, and broadcasters Edith Bowman; Charlotte Hawkins and Francesca Cumani. She also creates headwear for opera, ballet, and theatre companies, television, and film. Each piece is designed and made with great attention to detail and finish. She is Scottish Opera's milliner making hats for over 30 of their productions, and other clients include The BBC, Scottish Ballet, The Royal Lyceum Theatre, and Netflix including a hat worn by leading lady Brooke Shields in 'A Castle for Christmas'. After her BA Hons degree in jewellery, Sally dallied a while in paper conservation and museum sculpture, before nurturing her passion for hats and accessories with comprehensive millinery training in London. Amongst others, she has trained under the late Queen Mother's milliner and with The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. She was one of 100 top British design business selected to exhibit at 'UK Now' in Australia, and also exhibited at the prestigious Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show.
