CURVE DANCE, previously known as Footloose School of Dance in Leeming & Easingwold has been established for ten successful years. With a new name comes new, modern and fresh classes that not just provide pupils with great exercise but engage them creatively. We strongly believe Dance can educate, improve confidence, social interaction but above all its great fun! Curve Dance love seeing a pupil’s progression not just in their dance ability but in their ability to think creatively and work within a team. We see on a daily basis how allowing pupils to express themselves through movement can assist them in other areas of their life and give them the confidence to think outside the box. Curve Dance work on numerous performances throughout the year, help our pupils achieve their goals and improve their self-confidence. Curve Dance’s principal Kelly has been teaching for ten years, teaching dance to various youth groups, performing arts schools, plus she has choreographed numerous dance performances. From a young age Kelly was a keen dancer and gained numerous grades in Ballet, Tap and Jazz. Her love for performing and being on a stage was apparent early on. She performed in local events, Pantomimes and at Disney Land Paris. Kelly began her professional training at Newcastle Colleges Performance Academy and completed a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance. Throughout her three years at Newcastle she gained numerous opportunities to further her knowledge of the arts industry. Her ambition to teach and her interest in choreography grew and after leaving University she decided to become a Freelance Artist. Kelly currently works for North Yorkshire County Council and York City Council providing workshops and choreographing various dance pieces for performances and festivals. As well as running Curve Dance, Kelly currently works in numerous local schools and for North Yorkshire County Council providing creative workshops and choreographing dance pieces for performances. In addition she has been the Pantomime Choreographer at The Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond for six years. After several years working freelance, gaining experience of working within the community and project managing large scale dance events. Kelly has the experience and is very ambitious to provide pupils with a captivating insight in to the dance world and plans to incorporate numerous vibrant innovative performance opportunities.

It is our Centenary in 2021 and 2022. Since 1921, the City of Birmingham Choir has entertained audiences with a wide and adventurous repertoire. Performing in historic Town Hall and in magnificent Symphony Hall, we have enjoyed a warm musical partnership with the city’s outstanding orchestra, the CBSO. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, the choir continued to rehearse and present performances online. We have enjoyed rehearsing and performing together again since the autumn of 2021 as well as giving live concerts in Symphony Hall, Town Hall and Tewkesbury Abbey. Our Centenary concert centrepiece is Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony in November 2022. Read about the choir: History and Concert Archive. Our Conductor and Musical Director is Adrian Lucas. Adrian brings a wealth of experience as one of the country’s leading choral directors and conductors. Composer, teacher, conductor and all-round versatile musician, Colin Baines is our Accompanist. We have sung the major choral works as well as challenging newer compositions and a wide range of smaller scale music. The standard of our performances draws consistent praise. In Symphony Hall… As well as the CBSO, we have worked with the Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Swan, BBC Concert Orchestra, Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra and Westminster Chamber Orchestra. We joined the CBSO Chorus and CBSO for the much-praised centenary performances of Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius, The Apostles and The Kingdom. We have performed some of the more intimate choral repertoire in ‘out of town’ venues such as Tewkesbury Abbey and Gloucester Cathedral. Easter 2017 saw our second hugely successful and enjoyable overseas tour – singing Handel’s Messiah in the Stephansdom in Vienna – following a tour to Paris in April 2015. A highly acclaimed performance of James MacMillan’s Seven Last Words from the Cross, our stylish annual Handel’s Messiah performances, collaborations with Birmingham Schools Symphony Orchestra (Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast in 2017), Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 with period instruments – these are some highlights. Amongst our 90th birthday celebrations was the ground-breaking Equinox concert bringing together musicians from many cultures. A Christmas Treats CD was recorded in the same year. Exploring both more familiar territory (Handel, Bach, Monteverdi, Brahms, Mozart, Haydn, Elgar, Vaughan Williams, Holst, Britten, Finzi), and less well-known, (such as Samuel Wesley, Howells, Rautavaara, Kenneth Leighton and Jonathan Dove), we continue to plan enterprising programmes. June 2015, saw us in jazz mode, performing the popular Zimbe! and a new composition, The Rain Queen, by our own composer, John Barber. Paris Tour 2015 - Notre Dame, Sunday amParis Tour 2015 – Notre Dame, Sunday am We also perform for other organisations, including Raymond Gubbay – Spectacular Classics, Christmas Classics, Beethoven’s 9th, Mozart’s Requiem, Carmina Burana and Karl Jenkins conducting his own music to a packed Symphony Hall. Kelta Fit is the brain child of Ceilidh Club founder Ed McCabe and Licence to Ceilidh’s Ali Barnes, but we needed a bit of help along the way! Here’s a bit more about the Kelta Fit team: Kelta Fit Team Ed McCabe – Kelta Fit Co-Founder: Ed is also the founder of the hugely popular Ceilidh Club in London. It started in 1998 with a handful of friends and family and has now grown into something bigger with hundreds of people attending the (almost) weekly events. Ed has always been into fitness and it has been a long held dream of his to translate the fun and calorie burning aspects of a Ceilidh into something people can do at home or in a class. Ali Barnes – Kelta Fit Co-founder / Choreographer: Ali studied dance from a young age and has been attending ceilidhs regularly since childhood. She has been playing Fiddle in ceilidh and folk bands for almost 10 years and is also an experienced ceilidh dance caller. Ali joined Licence to Ceilidh around 5 years ago and very quickly went on to co-run the band alongside Philippe as well as continuing to play in it. Together they’ve transformed the band into what it is today, taking it to new levels never heard of before for a ceilidh band including numerous TV performances and industry awards. Philippe Barnes – Kelta Fit Musical Director: Philippe also co-runs Licence to Ceilidh and his extensive ceilidh and musical experience made him the perfect man in the Kelta Fit team to create the soundtrack! Philippe has a 1st class honors, MA in Irish Traditional Music Performance and has toured all over Europe, America & Australia with the David Munnelly Band and Celtic Jazz-fusion group All Jigged Out. He’s a three-time runner up in the BBC Young Folk Awards and his TV and recording credits include MTV, The Discovery Channel, ITV, TG4, BBC Scotland, BBC Radio 2, 3 & 4 and feature films including ‘The Imposter”, “Fraternity” and “Dark Horse”. Francesca Leyland – Kelta Fit Instructor / Choreographer: Francesca is a talented actress and dancer from Lerwick on the Shetland Isles. She has a background in highland dance and in her teens studied at the Dance School of Scotland in Glasgow where she gained an A.T.C.L diploma from Trinity College London, before later going on to gain a BA Hons Degree in Musical Theatre from Arts Educations School in London. Her past show credits include Les Misrables (West End) and The Bakers Wife. She is a popular dance teacher in Sussex and is also a caller with Licence to Ceilidh, performing with the band every week teaching ceilidh dances to crowds of willing punters! Frances Crawford – Fitness Consultant: Frances is an experienced nutritionist and personal trainer based in Florida, USA. She is a certified gym instructor in the UK with Future Fit and a certified personal trainer in the USA with the National Association of Sports Medicine. She also has qualifications in Sports Nutrition and Weight Management with the America Council of Exercise and is about to embark on her first NPC Fitness Competition! Cat Perry – Instructor Trainer: Cat is an Edinburgh-born and based Dance and Fitness Instructor with her own Teaching Company – Dance Division. Cat is a qualified Dance Teacher and Aerobics Instructor with lots of knowledge and expertise in the industy as well as experience in training and mentoring others. Cat has run her own Dance and Fitness teaching company since 2007. She holds dance and fitness qualifications and has a wealth of hands-on experience and knowledge. Cat has trained and mentored a wide range of people, developing many training courses, CPD training and delivers Sports and Dance qualifications. Lisa – Backing Dancer: Lisa is a Scottish lass originally from Dundee, she also Studied at the Dance School of Scotland before moving on to the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, graduating with a first class honors degree. Waylon – Backing Dancer Hailing from the west of England, Waylon studied at the Arts Educational College in London and his past show credits include Riverdance (Dublin), The Lion King (West End) and We Will Rock You (World Area Tour & UK West End). Ceilidh Club: Ceilidh Club is a vastly popular evening of fun Scottish dancing, held regularly in Camden, London, UK. It attracts attendees from all over the globe and the evenings are regularly sold out! Playing host to some of the UK’s best ceilidh bands, it’s a great way to get a taste of Scotland in London!
