In this workshop, we are going to explore two examples of the traditional Japanese side sewn bookbinding technique, the basic four hole binding and the more elaborate tortoiseshell binding.&nbsp;The side sewn bookbinding technique is using single sheets rather than folded sheets and is perfect for creating books out of your (or your children&#39;s) artwork, travel journal or to create sketchbooks.&nbsp;You&#39;ll also get the option to add colourful buttons and/or beads to the binding, and you&#39;ll be learning how to make your own templates for the sewing stations.&nbsp;This class is suitable for all levels, whether you are new to bookbinding or have got some experience and would like to try something new.&nbsp;All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring along any papers, ephemera, fabric, beads or buttons you might like to incorporate into your journals.
