Between 2013 and 2020, I worked for QS, the leading university rankings company.
As China Director I have grown their profile and commercial success in the
country substantially, including growing revenues in China by more than 15 times
in five years. In 2016 my work was effectively endorsed by China's Vice-Premier
at a speech highlighting the 2016-2020 Plan, affecting the funding allocations
to 2236 universities with 48 million students, with an annual budget of £120bn.
In 2009, I was the first Chinese elected to the UK National Union of Students'
(NUS) national executive since its foundation in 1922. Between 2010 and 2012, as
International Students Officer of NUS UK, I represented the interests of one
million international and EU students studying at UK Higher and Further
Education institutions, who contribute £30bn a year to the UK economy. Working
closely with the UK government and education sector leaders, I launched the
'Global Future' campaign which aimed to internationalise the experience of 7
million students at 600+ UK students unions, as part of the UK Prime Ministers'
Initiative on International Education Strategy. I regularly meet and talk with
