We nurture talented PhD researchers from across the globe by bringing people together through the delivery of the Doctoral Training Alliance (DTA) programmes. Our supportive and inclusive cohort environment empowers our students as part of the enhanced training, which ensures DTA graduates are highly skilled and achieve their full potential. Professional, personal and academic development is at the heart of our programmes. In partnership with DTA members, and expert external trainers, we deliver a wide variety of discipline specific training and a broad range of key professional skills training. Our nationwide Alliance fosters student connections across the UK and further afield, we create rich professional networks that bring together academics and professional staff across disciplines, countries, industry and beyond. The DTA builds upon the applied research strengths, industry-focus and collaborative ethos of our members. University Alliance established the centrally coordinated DTA initiative to develop the next generation of independent, highly-employable researchers with expertise and skills in strategically-important areas. DTA partners shared vision is the future-proofing of research and innovation through an open and sustainable approach by developing a national research ecosystem that maximises complementary strengths, is responsive and relevant to society and industry, and nurtures future capability within the high-quality research activity found in Alliance universities. Centrally coordinated by the University Alliance team on behalf of its partners, the DTA is one of the largest nationwide doctoral training initiatives in the UK. We deliver structured PhD training in collaboration with 19 Alliance universities and partner institutions. While benefitting from the nationwide network of universities, the DTA research communities drive connectivity across the membership through facilitating cross-institutional collaborations.

Situated in a wonderful collection of historic buildings on the harbour of a small and beautiful fishing port, we are a charitable trust which has become a national institution with an international reputation. Reaper & Museum Reaper & Museum Our principal aim, in all of our efforts with regard to the displays in our extensive museum and our many educational and research activities, is to excite informed interest in the development of the Scottish commercial fishing industry among people of all ages in and beyond Scotland. The core story that we have to tell is the history of how, through a constant process of innovation, the Scottish fisheries became such an important part of the lives of so many Scots. Family Baiting Lines Family Baiting Lines Our collections are truly inspiring. They permit us to exhibit wonderful examples of historic fishing boats and gear. They help us to illustrate the geography and social structures of our fishing communities. They allow us to honour their ways of life, skills, customs, dress, creativity and resilience, and to improve understanding of the various external circumstances, environmental, technological, political and commercial, which had and still continue to have such an impact upon them. We take seriously the responsibilities that come with our belonging to a very special section of Scottish society, to men and women who, over the centuries, have faced both natural and man-made adversity and yet maintained a proud tradition and a distinct, but open, culture. In celebrating their achievements, we are proud to welcome all of our visitors, young and old, to an experience that will be both highly entertaining and informative.

I help individuals and organisations use drawing & Sketchnoting to think, learn and work better. My work is grounded in L&D and OD practice gained over 30 years working in and with organisations as a consultant. Here are five ways I can work with you: Commission a Sketchnote - you could commission me to create a Sketchnote for you. Sketchnotes make use of a combination of words & simple pictures to make memorable notes. A number of clients have commissioned Sketchnotes of one-off special events and also for regular sessions to provide a visual record of the session - participants get to see the Sketchnote developing. Or you could get me to create a Sketchnote to communicate a particular message - in the past year I have created Sketchnotes to commemorate an organisational anniversary and to communicate a change in approach to wellbeing. You could learn to Sketchnote - I offer regular virtual workshops providing an introduction to Sketchnoting. I also offer these sessions in-house and have a version aimed particularly for students with a Sketchnoting for Studying focus. The sessions are practical and friendly. Thirdly, I have developed over the last year the concept of 'Reflect & Sketch' sessions in which drawing is used as a tool to help participants to slow down and as a prompt to reflection. I have tailored these sessions to integrate with wider leadership development programmes, sessions focusing on innovation & creativity and sessions on inclusion & diversity. Fourthly, I offer 'Relax & Draw' sessions which are short sessions based around drawing to encourage relaxation - each session has a theme which is often based around nature. Many clients have booked these sessions as part of a wider wellbeing offer.
