Master Leo Au Yeung was the official fight choreographer for the award-winning films Ip Man (2008), The Legend is Born: Ip Man (2010), and Ip Man: The Final Fight (2013). Over the years he worked closely with transnational martial arts stars/choreographers such as Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung, Louis Fan Siu-wong, and Yuen Biao, as well as Hong Kong movie stars such as Anthony Wong, Gillian Chung, and Jordan Chan Siu-chun. As a second-generation disciple of Lau Kar-leung, the legendary choreographer of kung fu cinema in the 1970s and 1980s, Master Leo Au Yeung perfectly synthesises the aesthetic and authentic dimensions of traditional Chinese kung fu. On the one hand, he has inherited and refined the conventions established in Lau Kar-leung’s classics such as Challenge of the Masters (1976) and Martial Club (1981). In The Legend is Born, for example, Au Yeung choreographed an intense fight scene featuring Dennis To and the 86-year-old Ip Chun, Ip Man’s Son. One of his strengths is to design actions appropriate for the actors, regardless of their age and physique. On the other hand, Master Leo Au Yeung does not merely replicate kung fu classics. He incorporates mixed martial arts (MMA) techniques into his choreography. By so doing, he adds a realistic touch to southern kung fu. The one versus ten dojo scene in Ip Man was one of Leo Au Yeung’s masterpiece. It perfectly combines Chinese (Wing Chun) and Western martial arts skills (joint locking, taken down, and ground fight). His influence in martial arts cinema also receives media attention in the United Kingdom. In 2016, the BBC and UWE Bristol produced a documentary, Mastering Wing Chung, featuring Au Yeung. My jewellery is inspired by the natural world. The landscape in particular has a strong influence on the concept of my designs, but psychologically and emotionally it is the ancient world of Talismanic potency that inhabits the finished pieces.’ Design is the pivotal dictate of Lucy Copleston’s work, and imagination the essence. Her sketchbooks are used to ‘think’ on paper and her designs are further developed and refined through prototypes. Landscape has always contributed to her vision through an awareness of land mass balanced against sky, the perspective of diminishing roads and the sculptural statement of trees. Her mother Jean Royle and her grandfather Stanley Royle contributed greatly to this awareness, as both were landscape painters: www.jean-royle.com. and www.stanleyroyle.com The flowing linear decoration, a signature of Lucy’s style, draws inspiration from her early childhood experience of living beside a small river in rural Suffolk, and the familiar sight of shallow water rippling over pebbles in sunlight. She views jewellery as a magical element, imbued with an enduring energy reaching beyond this life, as did people of the ancient world. Her formal training began in 1962 at Mansfield College of Art, Nottinghamshire. Then in 1964 – 67 she studied for a BA in 3-dimensional design at Loughborough College of Art and Design, Leicestershire. In 1967 she furthered her studies at the Royal College of Art, London, specialising in silversmithing and graduating with an MA in 1970. Producing one-off commissioned pieces, limited editions and repeatable ranges of jewellery forms the majority of her work, alongside teaching jewellery making at her workshop on a one-to-one basis. The vibrant markets of the Middle and Far East triggered her passion for colour, texture and pattern and this influence is expressed through her textiles. She completed both her BA in Textile Design, specialising in woven textiles, and MA in Design for Textile Futures at Central St Martins College of Art and Design, graduating in 2006. After graduating, she moved back to Winchester to set up her weaving business which she has been running full time since 2015. In 2018 Claudia started working with the business to produce naturally dyed yarns for Ellie to weave with, and to sell on their website. They have a growing range of online self-paced courses which have been designed to get you confidently weaving and natural dyeing from the comfort of your home.

I completed my MSc at the University of Hertfordshire in 2011, followed by my PhD at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) in 2019. My PhD thesis was entitled 'the influence of lower limb biomechanics on the development, persistence and management of patellofemoral pain in recreational runners'. I spent 10 years as a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist at Pure Sports Medicine, London’s leading private Sports Medicine clinic, where I also acted as the company's Head of Research. In April 2021, I joined the School of Rehabilitation and Exercise Science at the University of Essex as a Lecturer (Education and Research) in Physiotherapy. I am also a post-doctoral Research Fellow in Sports & Exercise Medicine at QMUL and a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire, contributing to their post-graduate physiotherapy programme. I have published in several leading peer-reviewed journals, including the British Journal of Sports Medicine, Gait & Posture and Physical Therapy in Sport, where I am also an editorial advisor. My main research interests are in Patellofemoral Pain and other knee pathologies, biomechanics, running-related injury and the epidemiology of musculoskeletal conditions.
