The Championship Course has hostedAIG Women’s Open 2021 – Carnoustie Golf Links Between 19th and 22nd August 2021 Carnoustie proudly played host to The AIG Women’s Open for the second time in 10 years, with the previous Championship being played over the famous Links in 2011. Not only has this Championship quickly grown to become the most international Major in women’s golf, it is also one of the most sought-after prizes in the industry. The 45th edition of the Championship saw Carnoustie invite the very best women golfers in the world to battle it out over Golf’s Greatest Test in an exciting week days of wonderful golf. Those who took on the challenge included Georgia Hall, Hinako Shibuno, and Danielle Kang who are true ambassadors of the game and continue to drive women’s golf forward together. Included in this list was defending AIG Women’s Open champion, Sophia Popov, who after her memorable win in 2020 continues to inspire women and girls across the world as she looked to defend her title at Carnoustie, where she made her Women’s British Open debut. It was with great delight that after a stunning 65 on the Saturday, Anna Nordqvist held her nerve in a thrilling final round to shoot 69 and triumph by one shot over Georgia Hall. Speaking during her prize giving, Anna said “Carnoustie is such a great venue and it’s been one of my favourites since I played here in 2011, and for us to be able to come back here I think is amazing and hopefully it’s not the last time the British Open comes back here.” Carnoustie has real ambitions to grow and elevate the game of golf, demonstrated by the almost 300 children taking part in The Carnoustie Craws golf development programme every week. Hosting the AIG Women’s Open at Carnoustie provides another opportunity to showcase one of golf’s leading events at a truly inclusive venue looking to see the game of golf thrive and be enjoyed by new generations.

Throughout his 30 year IT career, John has been privileged to visit many different industrial, commercial, government and military sites including steel works, car manufacturers, factories, offices, power stations, petro-chemical, and electrical, gas and water utility installations. He has completed projects throughout Europe (The Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Luxembourg and Switzerland) India, and the Asia Pacific Region (Cambodia, and Australia). His career started as a British Telecom apprentice in the 1980’s in the City of London and he has worked in many city financial institutions. In 1989 he left to join J.O. Grant & Taylor as a junior project manager, in 1990 he joined Electrical Installations Ltd as a project and bid manager in the structured data and voice cabling sector and worked on projects such as British Steel Scunthorpe and Redcar, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, and Cranfield Institute of Technology. Working for himself in 1996, he installed servers, switches and desktops into UK Job Centres nationwide. 1997, saw him join Computacenter as a Systems Engineer and he worked at some notable clients including Lloyds TSB, HFC Bank, Mecca Bingo, HSBC, British Energy, Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Severn Trent Water to name a few. 'I set up Carbon³ IT in 2009, my own sustainable IT consultancy, providing information, products and services to clients looking to reduce energy costs and to reduce their IT impact on the environment. I wanted to take all my years of experience in other roles and incorporate it into something I was passionate about. Alongside this I did a BSc (Honours) in Technology with Environment and Development with the Open University, graduating in 2010. I am on the BCS Green IT and Data Centre specialist group committees and have taken the Foundation Certificate in Green IT, the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres, PRINCE 2 Practitioner and ITIL Foundation qualifications. I am currently part way through my Chartered IT Professional qualification. I regularly speak at events on the topic of Green IT & Data Centres and I am well known throughout the Data Centre Industry as a Sustainability Expert. Since December 2011, I have been the lead Assessor on the BCS CEEDA (Certified Data Centre Energy Efficiency Award) programme and since September 2012, I have been the reviewer of applications to become participants on the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres.'

After training as an Early Years teacher at Cambridge University, Melissa became a teacher for a couple of years and then opened Rainbow Day Nursery over ten years ago. Darren used to be involved in the building industry and changed his career in 2014 to work alongside Melissa at Rainbow Day Nursery to develop and enhance their outdoor provision as they both realised and understood the importance of this for children. They have also successfully run a Forest School programme at the nursery in their local nature reserve for almost two years. The two of them have always felt strongly about the benefits of Forest School learning. Our Team: Ond Finneran - Ond is our Nature Nursery manager. She has lots of experience with early years and forest school. Ond has her level 3 childcare qualification and has almost completed her level 3 forest school training. Her passion is the outdoors and she loves nothing more than being in the forest. Sam Hayward - Sam is our deputy at Wildawood. She has level 3 in both childcare and her level 3 forest school award. Sam loves facepainting with the mud!

I have been teaching exercise for 25 years and thrive on working with my clients to achieve their health and fitness goals! I live and work in Potters bar, Hertfordshire and had been teaching exercise and fitness classes at venues in Potters Bar, Barnet and North London until the recent Covid-19 pandemic restricted group exercise (amongst so many other things!) In the early days of "lockdown" I kept in touch with my wonderful clients with regular video blogs and 5 minute daily exercise challenges. When it became clear that the restrictions were likely to be in place for many months, I started organising live streamed classes via Zoom. This new way of exercising remotely has been hugely popular with my members and has influenced the way I hope to take the classes forward. I am very aware of the impact on us all during such unsettled times and I firmly believe in the importance of nurturing both physical and mental health. Taking time to look after ourselves is more important than ever. I pride myself on making all of my members feel valued and adapting my style to meet their needs. Most of all, I believe that exercise should be enjoyable and I endeavour to bring fun to all of my classes! My Background In 1996 I bought a Rosemary Conley Diet & Fitness franchise and worked hard to build a successful group of classes in my local area, which many of my current members attended! The exercise and nutritional training that I received from Rosemary Conley was invaluable and has been the foundation for my career in the industry. In 2004, I launched "Health for Life", my own diet and fitness programme, with classes in Barnet and Potters Bar and qualified as a Zumba instructor in 2010 to revitalise the classes. Having discovered the benefits of Pilates, following a significant back injury, I decided to qualify as a Fitness Pilates teacher. The addition of Fitness Pilates to the classes I teach has provided my members with an alternative way to exercise, that focuses on physical and mental health and wellbeing. As the modern world becomes ever more challenging, the popularity of Fitness Pilates has grown and is now the basis for the majority of my classes. In addition, I am qualified to teach exercise to children, and also teach Exercise for Older Adults at a number of retirement communities in my local area. As a carpenter Liverpool has been very good for me within the last few years due to the increase in personalised and customised furniture. However, another carpentry and woodworking service that has been very popular within the last few years especially has been the growing popularity of alcove and walk in wardrobes. Since both types of wardrobe projects are considered luxury and high end for most houses, many home owners are beginning to look for having one of either within their home. As a carpenter, this is one of the most expensive and biggest projects that we complete. It also means that it is a good opportunity to make a decent amount of money, and both the customer and us as a company win with a transaction such as this. I have had the opportunity to take many wardrobe creation projects within the last few years especially, and the demand for the wardrobes are only increasing. Projects like these can cost anywhere from £2,500 – £7,000 depending on the size of the project, especially if you are looking to create a more elaborate walk in closet for example. Some people decide that they want to turn their en-suite bathroom or even a spare bedroom into a walk-in closet if they have a lot of clothes or shoes but no need for the room itself. This isn’t as uncommon as you may believe, due to the amount of families that are deciding to not have children. With the number of gardens in Liverpool, it is also becoming common for many home owners to request the creation and construction of garden furniture such as benches and picnic tables. Many times, they want the furniture to be created from either a specific timber, or they want a specific carving or engraving within the furniture itself. This is more common with something such as a picnic table, where customers want what they would consider a posh picnic table. Other times, some customers are more artistic and just want a carving or engraved pattern within the table itself. This itself is an enjoyable project for carpenters, as it is rare to create something that others would consider a piece of art rather than just furniture. Thank you for reading today’s post.
