Whitchurch

HorseWorld is a charity dedicated to saving the lives of abandoned, neglected and mistreated horses, ponies and donkeys. The organisation cares for more than 100 horses, ponies and donkeys at its Bristol site and provides after-care and support for around 200 more, who have been re-homed throughout the South-West. The charity also runs the innovative Discovery educational programme. HorseWorld's vital 365-days-a-year animal welfare work is funded by voluntary donations. You can help transform the lives of horses, ponies and donkeys. HorseWorld is not open to the public on a day-to-day basis but it holds Open Days throughout the year. Please see the events page for details. HorseWorld's Registered Charity number is 1121920 Background The charity began life in 1952 as "The Friends of Bristol Horses Society" in a campaign to save the lives of working horses who were rapidly being replaced by motorised vehicles in industry. Under the banner of “Retirement Not Slaughter” - for many were destined for the abattoir - the charity offered a safe haven in Bristol for the big-hearted horses, ponies and donkeys that had worked all their lives on the railways, in the dockyards, the coal mines, the roads and for the armed forces. Decades later working horses are largely a memory of the past. But there is still a very real demand for this work - to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home up to 100 abandoned, neglected and mistreated horses every year. Getting great results for my clients is like the adrenaline rush of hitting a PB in a 10k or half marathon (that’s a PR for you over-the-pond ‘ers). That feeling when you’re hitting every single mile split, and you just know you’re going to break all your previous records? LET’S MAKE THAT HAPPEN WITH YOUR NEXT EMAIL SEQUENCE. Who’s writing your email copy? Comma Comma is very deliberately a micro-business. This means when you book Comma Comma for a project, you get me – Liz Painter – working on your copy, with my 17 years of experience as a professional writer, 15 years’ experience as a business owner, and 8+ years experience of getting results for brands like Symantec, Veritas and Shopify, as well as 100s of fabulous smaller businesses. I MIGHT BE MORE INTERESTED IN YOUR INDUSTRY THAN YOU ARE If we get to speak, ask me what my current obsession is. I’ll regularly work my way through a pile of books on one specific topic before moving on. I’m essentially a book addict, and instead of a 12-step program, I have to operate a one-in, one-out policy so my bookshelves don’t collapse. What that means for you is I’ll be super interested in your business. I’m insatiably curious and I get excited about digging into dev team workflows, martech, sustainable natural deodorants, the finer points of trade mark law and most other things you care to throw my way. Once you’ve got one sequence bringing in customers automatically, you might want to look at adding more – filling in the gaps, till all of your email sequences are performing for you. Then your emails become a significant player in creating long-term, sustainable growth.

Nara Assoc of Property and Fixed Charge Receivers

nara assoc of property and fixed charge receivers

Bexley

Nara was formed in 1995 by a group of professionals from the property, legal, and insolvency disciplines, concerned at what was perceived to be a lack of standards by some practitioners when undertaking fixed charge or Law of Property Act receivership appointments. Since that time Nara has introduced written standards, trained practitioners for relevant examinations, provided continuing professional development and worked with stakeholders, inc lenders, borrowers and government as the pre-eminent trade association for fixed charge receivers. The Association is multi-disciplinary and its membership is drawn from a broad range of professionals including accountants, surveyors and valuers, insolvency practitioners, and lawyers. Its Council is drawn from leading members of the combined professions across the country and their expertise has produced a structure for insolvency work of this type. The Association has a detailed Code of Practice, Professional Statements and Guidance Notes to which all of its members have agreed to adhere. Nara promotes training of members and provides a substantial number of training hours. Nara also publishes a regular e-newsletter and a twice yearly printed newsletter, which is widely circulated not only to members, but also within the banking fraternity from whom it receives the fullest support. Nara fully endorses the concept of regulation and played a pivotal role in developing the scheme for voluntary licensing of fixed charge receivers. This resulted in a voluntary scheme of registration culminating in a revised Memorandum of Understanding in July 2017 between Nara, RICS and IPA. Under this scheme practitioners are monitored and regulated. Nara represents members’ interests at the interface with Government, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (formerly the Department of Trade and Industry), the Insolvency Service, and other external agencies, and is now firmly established as the leading voice for fixed charge receivers.

Fiona Scott

Wiltshire

I was born in the 1960s in Somerset, UK the eldest of two daughters of Heather and Nick Bune. My mum was a housewife and dad a welder after starting an early career as a coal miner. The coal mining industry ran in the blood of my family as both grandfathers and all of my great grandfathers were coal miners. I grew up in a happy, loving home where money was always tight. There were no daytrips, no foreign holidays for me – in fact we didn’t have a telephone until I was a teenager and we didn’t have a car until I’d left home. At school I was one of those children who sits in the middle, grey and unnoticed, yet plodding on. I got seven O levels and a qualification in touch typing –my careers ‘adviser’ told me I should am to be a secretary or a nurse. Not a chance! However, I didn’t do as well in my A levels as expected and ended up going to a more ‘lowly’ college of higher education, now Bath Spa University. I took a degree in English Literature & History and loved it. I did well in my degree, getting a high 2:1 and took a PGCE and trained to be a teacher though quickly realised this was not for me. I always wanted to be a journalist – I used that year to apply for any relevant job. I eventually got a traineeship on a local newspaper in Somerset, then two years later moved on to a daily newspaper in Swindon, where I went on to be crime reporter and then business editor. I was also running as a volunteer a radio programme for Hospital Radio Swindon.
