At Siobhan Davies Studios we believe in the power of dance for artistic and social change. We connect artists, neighbours and audiences through investigative, collaborative and creative activities at our studios and beyond. Artist and female-led since we were founded, Siobhan Davies Studios has been part of the contemporary dance landscape since the 1980s. Our studios are a place to play, question and experiment and we bring this spirit into all areas of our work. In the last five years, shaped by leadership changes, we have renewed focus on bringing marginalised voices to the fore to evolve a broader community of artists, participants, audiences and workers. We engage the public through classes, performances and co-created participatory activities prioritising engagement with local communities. From 2020, increased budgets in access support for artists and audiences aim to break the status quo of privilege surpassing inclusion. Current local partnerships include working with neighbouring Charlotte Sharman primary school, and charities Su Mano Amiga and Good Chance Theatre. Our award-winning public arts building is in the diverse and densely populated area of Elephant and Castle. We share our space with Independent Dance, with whom we hold Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation consortium status. Find out more about visiting our studios here. Established in 1996, SWAMP is a forward-thinking Community Development Trust and registered charity, using accredited training, outreach, film, music, digital technologies, gardening and the creative arts to enable and empower social change. SWAMP enhances cultural awareness, promotes social inclusion and builds community spirit within the locality, and has been successfully sustaining this for over two decades. During this time we have taken a dilapidated building within our community and redeveloped it, and are now planning another move to new premises. We strongly believe in the model of inclusion through creation, and work collaboratively with children, young people, older people and communities to achieve our aims; predominantly, but not exclusively, with vulnerable groups. We consider the arts, community involvement and accrediting training to be positive tools for change, helping people to: Build confidence and attain new skills Get back into work or education Source work in the creative arts Enjoy better health or simply improve quality of life SWAMP was one of the first organisations in Glasgow to use creative media, digital arts and new technologies as tools for community engagement, cross-referencing them to skills and learning, and later adopting the Curriculum for Excellence approach into our programmes. Through our accredited training programmes we provide young people with the skills and attributes they need to successfully make the life transition from school to employment or further education, supporting them to better understand their local environment, and encouraging them to engage in the process of lifelong learning and active citizenship. Our bespoke programmes and projects are designed and planned with the learner very much at the heart of the process and our objectives continue to focus on developing the skills of young people to become successful learners in life and work. SWAMP places innovation, enterprise and creativity alongside outstanding delivery, sound management and a strong ethos of partnership to tackle society’s big issues. Our mission and values fit well with the strategic objectives of the Scottish Government and local government priorities, and have developed strong working relationships with key partners operating within the area of youth employment, education and development.

Musical Futures is a not-for-profit organisation, which first began in the UK 18 years ago as a Paul Hamlyn Foundation Special Initiative and is dedicated to supporting teachers with teaching music in a way that helps them to engage and enthuse their students. Musical Futures supports primary and secondary schools to transform their music teaching. We share the learning systems, professional development, tools and support needed to embrace an ethos of innovative, inspirational and informal music learning in the classroom and in the community. In 2017 Musical Futures was selected by global education non-profit HundrED as one of 100 most innovative education projects across the world due to its unique pioneering status and ability to create a scalable impact. Musical Futures approaches involve making music learning relevant and engaging, imaginative and authentic for students, whatever their level of experience. We offer training and consultancy predominantly in the UK, but have links with institutions and schools in many other countries around the world. Our work is supported by our team of expert Champion Teachers have tried and tested the approaches in their classrooms. Musical Futures has developed into a national and international network of more than 13,000 teachers and practitioners adapting the approaches in the UK and overseas. 500,000+ young people benefit from Musical Futures every year. It’s the way we learn Music learning is most effective when young people are making music, and when their existing passion for music is reflected and built upon. The Musical Futures approach is a tried-and-tested yet innovative way of teaching music learning. It is based on a pedagogy that is driven by the musical culture of the participants. It brings real-world music learning processes into schools and other formal settings, engaging and inspiring all and promoting inclusion and diversity.

We are a group of individuals from different backgrounds and with a broad range of experiences. Collectively we have worked in and with statutory services, private business, charitable and voluntary organisations, and across many sectors including health and social care, education, heritage and industry. Each Director brings a rich array of knowledge and perspectives and we are bound by our common interest in building a fairer society. We like to be creative and to seek the involvement of others in generating new ideas, both to overcome existing challenges and in Thinking BIG about new ways to improve experiences and outcomes. After a number of years of talking about ideas, we decided it was time to take action. We looked at different models for forming a charitable, not-for-profit organisation, and took advice from some who had gone before us in this sector. As a result, we formed Thinking BIG as a Community Interest Company, dedicated to engaging in training, and projects with individuals, groups and organisations, in pursuit of the overarching aim - to promote social inclusion, opportunity and wellbeing, by making a positive difference to services and people's lives through meaningful training and community engagement. There are no share holders, no dividends and no spurious expenses. Any funds raised are put entirely into the running of projects for the benefit of the community. As for the name, we asked the people we work with what words they thought captured what we do. We want people to Think BIG when considering new projects and activities, not to be limited by what is already out there. A little imagination and passion goes a long way, and we're on an exciting journey. We have experience of achieving outstanding outcomes, both with organisations, and with individuals. Our training is designed, delivered, evaluated and quality assured, with organisations benefiting from improved employee ability, confidence, performance and wellbeing. Our community projects have made a positive difference to people's lives, and include collaborations with The National Lottery Community Fund, the Police and Crime Commissioners for West and South Yorkshire and their Violence Reduction Units, Menston Parish Council, Bradford Metropolitan District Council, Kirklees Council, Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, and Yorkshire Mentoring. Our Story Our aim is to promote social inclusion, opportunity and wellbeing by Thinking BIG. To achieve this, our vision is to facilitate positive experiences, progress and sustainable outcomes; empowering people through education, training, skills-building and having a collective voice in shaping future services and lives. Much of our work is with individuals and groups who face barriers to inclusion, opportunity and/or wellbeing, and others who can support these very people. Children and adults can be vulnerable or disadvantaged by many factors including disabilities, ill-health, poverty, abuse, isolation, marginalisation or being in care. They can also find it difficult to keep themselves and others healthy and safe, or to access opportunities, services or employment, as a result of missing out on appropriate education, training or support. We can help to achieve goals and aspirations which improve lives. Others who support vulnerable people include families, friends, carers, schools, and involved or potentially supportive professionals, volunteers and services. These people can also face challenges which need to be recognised and addressed and they can be empowered in their roles through dedicated support and training. By choosing to use our training services for their teams, organisations can benefit from outstanding workforce development whilst simultaneously supporting their communities, as money raised is invested back into meaningful activities and projects
