Paediatric First Aid Emergency Paediatric First Aid One Day Course Cost:  £75 + vat per person This one-day Emergency Paediatric First Aid course has been designed for those interested in Child and Infant Basic Life Support, including parents, guardians and family members. The purpose of the qualification is for the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of Paediatric First Aid. The FAA Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification is Unit 1 of the two-day FAA Paediatric First Aid qualification. From gaining this Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification, learners could progress to completing Unit 2 and being awarded the 2-day FAA Award in Paediatric First Aid. The qualification is designed for learners with a responsibility for the Care of Children and Babies. This ILS training course is designed to meet the requirements of ILS training laid down by UK Resus Council guidelines and is certified by ProTrainings. The aim is to train healthcare personnel in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, simple airway management and safe defibrillation, enabling them to manage patients in cardiac arrest until the arrival of a cardiac arrest team and to participate as team members. The course is run over one day and consists of lectures and practical sessions. This qualification is ideal for those already working, or preparing to work within industry wishing to become a First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982. Topics within this qualification are regarded by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) as being important in maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective treatment of injuries and ill health in the workplace. How long will it take me to achieve this qualification? This is a 1 credit qualification, with a guided learning hour’s value of 8 and it has a minimum contact time of 6 hours, which is typically delivered via a 1 day course. How is the qualification assessed? Learners must undertake a practical assessment of their competence along with a short open response knowledge assessment, where learners are required to provide a short response to a prescribed series of questions. What next? In line with guidance provided by the HSE, the qualification supports/approves work place emergency first aiders for a period of 3 years, after which point learners will need to retake the course. The QA Level 2 Award in Principles and Practice of Moving People Safely (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification that has been specifically designed for those who work, or intend to work, in a role that involves assisting and moving people.  This 1 day course provides candidates with a clear understanding of the principles of moving people safely and includes the opportunity to practise and apply these principles in a variety of situations; individually, in a team, and with the assistance of equipment.  Candidates will leave the course with the knowledge and skills required to move people safely whilst ensuring that the risk of personal harm is reduced and that health and dignity are retained.

The QA Level 3 Award in Administering Emergency Oxygen (RQF) qualification has been designed for those who are responsible for providing care to casualties where the administration of emergency oxygen may be required.  Over a half day period, candidates will learn about the clinical need for emergency oxygen and the safety considerations of this, as well as how to administer emergency oxygen when dealing with a range of conditions. Successful candidates will leave the course with the knowledge and skills needed to administer emergency oxygen both safely and effectively.  Achievement of this qualification confirms candidates have met both the theoretical and practical requirements, however, it does not imply a ‘license to practice’ – the scope of practice is determined by the organisation responsible for oxygen provision. This qualification does not allow candidates to obtain, store or administer oxygen without clinical governance.
