The Bestwood Partnership is a local community organisation which provides numerous services and support to local residents. With strong partnerships in place between the local authorities and additional funders we are proud to create a wide array of opportunities for so many individuals. From Employment and Training to Emotional Health and well-being support, our dedicated team offer their advice and assistance across a number of topics so if you’re unsure as to whether we can help, feel free to get in touch and we can point you in the right direction. The Partnerships activities cover the Nottingham City Council boundaries of Area One, being Bestwood, Bulwell and Bulwell Forest wards and surrounding areas. For those that are not comfortable with the terms Bulwell Forest wards this includes areas also identified as Top Valley, Rise Park and Highbury Vale areas. Our strategic approach and commitment to the wider area increases year on year as a reflection of our hard work and positive impact, These areas may change from time to time depending on contractual funding and newly identified Partnership working. The Bestwood Partnership is a charitable company that is: Community – owned Community -governed Community run For the people of Bestwood, Bulwell, Bulwell Forest and surrounding areas. With funding from Nottingham City Council area based grant (ABG) and the European Social Fund (ESF) we work in partnership with local organisations to support young people and adults. Through our in-house enterprise curriculum and our partnership with Loughborough College, we support our students to achieve their targets and goals using individual learning plans. Students have a wide range of disabilities including learning difficulties, autism, Asperger's Syndrome, sight loss, communication problems, physical disabilities, chronic illness and hearing loss. The main aim of the College is to prepare people for as fulfilling an adult life as possible by maximising independence. Angie Rigard is the new Director of Charnwood Tutors, Loughborough. She has been involved in education for twenty years both in the UK and in international schools in Shanghai, Dubai and Hong Kong, respectively. Angie has taught GCSE English Language and Literature, as well as A Level English Literature and Media Studies. Throughout her time in schools, she has been Head of English and Head of Year, as well as playing key roles in mentoring students during the transition from Primary to Secondary school, curriculum design and whole school SEN policy. Angie is also an experienced BACP Registered Integrative Psychotherapist trained in Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, Existentialist, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Attachment and CBT modes of therapy. She has a private practice and works for a number of outside agencies, including EAP Provision, working with children and young people and supporting adults suffering Critical Incident Trauma. We are a government funded Community Interest Company (CIC) who are experts in sport and education. With a background of over 20 years in this sector, we are creating the next generation of sports professionals and leaders. Currently working in partnership with 70+ basketball, rugby and cricket clubs nationwide. Having worked hard to build relationships with the local Nottingham community, we have been able to provide high quality sports related qualifications, advice and mentorship. Helping Kids Achieve is about empowering young people, especially those aged between 5 and 17 with the skills needed to become leaders by building a better future for the next generation. With the help of a team of charities and organisations, we will be able to achieve this goal together. From humble beginnings, Helping Kids Achieve has been featured on Notts TV, The Nottingham Post, BBC Radio Nottingham, BBC East Midlands and even have won an award at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year due to the work we provide for the community. We primarily operate in Bulwell, Bestwood and St. Anns, where we focus on sports, arts & crafts, music and dance to create a fun environment for everyone involved. We are Life Education East Midlands and we were formed on the 1st April 2022 following the amalgamation of Life Education Nottinghamshire and Life Education Northamptonshire. From the 1st August 2022 Life Education East Midlands were delighted to be joined by Life Education Leicestershire. We are a specialist charity provider of high quality health, well-being and drug prevention education working with primary schools across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Bedford, Central Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Rutland. Our aim is to equip young people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to make choices that will help them to live healthier, happier lives. We are a delivery partner of Coram life Education, the UK’s leading health and drug education organisation. Bringing health and well-being to life, our regularly updated programmes, keeping in line with demand and trends, have been created by child development experts to be stimuli-rich and interactive. This is achieved through puppetry, role play, and film clips to capture children’s imaginations and develop critical thinking and risk management skills. Nottinghamshire also works alongside Nottingham City Council and Inspire Learning to deliver courses to parents and carers.

KARATE Karate is a system of self defence and physical culture developed and refined in Okinawa and Japan. There are several styles of karate, they all use slightly different training methods and they all place varying degrees of emphasis on issues such as the speed, strength and range of techniques practised. Shotokan karate (our style) emphasises a balanced development of all these elements, taught within a system which instils confidence and self control. SOUTH NOTTS SHOTOKAN KARATE CLUB The club was established in Keyworth in 1985 by the senior instructor Rob Manning who is a 6th dan black belt and meets at South Wolds School, Keyworth. The club is affiliated to the KUGB (Karate Union of Great Britain) which is a democratic non-profit making organisation recognised by the official European and World governing bodies. TRENT SHOTOKAN KARATE CLUB One of the oldest clubs in the KUGB Trent SKC was established in 1976 and over the years has produced many black belts and enjoyed significant success in competitions. The club meets at Rushcliffe School in West Bridgford. The fundamental objective of both clubs is to develop the art, sport and practice of shotokan karate in South Nottinghamshire. They offer a friendly and welcoming environment for adults of any age, young people and children from six.
