About this training course This 5 full-day course will provide a comprehensive understanding of the design of circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers. The design of all CFB boiler components and equipment including furnace, cyclones, economizers, superheaters, reheaters, loop seals, expansion joints, refractory, and L-valves will be covered in detail. All potential operating problems and major operating problems, corrective actions and maintenance required for CFB boilers will be covered thoroughly. This course will focus on designing CFB boilers that have the highest efficiency, and maximum longevity and capacity factor. All the common problems encountered in CFB Boilers will be discussed in detail. This includes thermally induced failures, anchor system induced failures, water walls tube failures, NMEJ damages, clinker formation, refractory damages, APH tube chock-up, erosion and corrosion. The solutions to each of these problems will be presented. All repair and refurbishment methods, preventive and predictive maintenance required for CFB boilers will be covered in-depth. Several studies have confirmed that CFB boilers are the best method for power generation. This is due to their fuel flexibility, and lowest electricity cost among all types of boilers. This technology is in great demand due to various other advantages such as lower emissions as compared to other types of boilers and has a carbon footprint well below the norms laid down by the World Bank emission requirements. This course is a MUST for anyone who is involved in the design, operation or maintenance of circulating fluidized bed boilers, because it covers how these boilers are designed and provides guidelines and rules that ensure the CFB boilers have great performance. Summary This half day course is designed to help managers and supervisors understand the causes of poor behaviour and look at different strategies for dealing with this. The course can be run as a one-off session or can be incorporated into a series of sessions on managing staff. Alternatively it could be increased to a day-long course with participant’s role playing different scenarios in the afternoon. For voluntary and community organisation participants the course could include dealing with difficult volunteers as well as paid staff.
In some organisations appraisals are seen as an annual chore that has to be undertaken and neither the manager nor the staff gain any real benefit from it. This half day course is designed to help managers appraise their staff effectively so that both parties develop more insight, motivation and a better understanding of each other. It will help participants work with their staff to create work plans that are effective and realistic. This course can be run as a one-off session or as part of a series of sessions on staff management.
About this training course This 3-days training will provide a comprehensive review of integrity of wells exposed to carbon dioxide (CO2) in the context of Carbon Capture Utilization for enhanced oil recovery and Storage (CCUS). CO2 geological storage is a proven technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from sources such as coal power plants, cement kilns and steel mills. Wells are widely considered the most critical containment element, especially older wells that are not used to inject CO2 or monitor the plume evolution in the storage reservoir. The main reason for this perceived risk is the high corrosion rate of carbon steel when exposed to wet CO2, and the tendency of Portland cement to react with the gas. The training course advanced contents build on 15 years' experience in carbon storage, both in the development and deployment of technologies. First-hand, in-depth knowledge of the subject will allow us to debunk myths and focus on the real challenges of wells encountering CO2. Training Objectives After the completion of this training course, participants will be able to: Explain the CCUS market drivers Examine the behavior of CO2, on surface and in the reservoir Diagnose cement defects and design repairs Understand the limits of Portland cement Assess the benefits of different technologies and materials Realize why geology is a dominant factor in cement performance Critically choose the most appropriate monitoring techniques Classify aging processes of cement, steel, and rock when exposed to CO2 Assess the risk of existing wells if they encounter the CO2 plume Examine recent advances in real-time approaches to the production monitoring and lift management Target Audience This training course is suitable and will greatly benefit: All surface technical personnel such as process engineers & technologists Facility engineers, production engineers & technologists Drilling engineers and Well engineers Design engineers and Integrity engineers P&A engineers and Cementing engineers Geologists Senior management executives will benefit from this training as covers an overview of the technical and commercial details of CO2 capture technologies and risks involved. Course Level Intermediate Training Methods The training instructor relies on a highly interactive training method to enhance the learning process. This method ensures that all participants gain a complete understanding of all the topics covered. The training environment is highly stimulating, challenging, and effective because the participants will learn by case studies which will allow them to apply the material taught in their own organization. Course Duration: 3 days in total (21 hours). Training Schedule 0830 - Registration 0900 - Start of training 1030 - Morning Break 1045 - Training recommences 1230 - Lunch Break 1330 - Training recommences 1515 - Evening break 1530 - Training recommences 1700 - End of Training The maximum number of participants allowed for this training course is 20.
