…I’ve been painting almost all my life, as I didn’t stop when I left school.
There were many years when I’d only do the odd sketch or painting as ‘real life’
took over, but I always wanted more. Once I’d made the decision to try to
realise my childhood ambitions I gave myself up to it as completely as real life
would allow. It’s taken a long time, but now I make art part of my daily life.
Even though …It’s now ‘the job’, I still get a big kick out of drawing and
painting. There’s nothing better that looking at what you’ve achieved and see it
looking back at you. Knowing exhibition sales help with animal conservation is
another bonus, but it’s equally exciting to get a pet portrait commission from
someone, as it is to sell something in exhibition. A lot of my time is spent
teaching art, mostly to retired people. I Believe …art plays a very important
role in keeping people healthy. As a teaching Artist, I want to share my
life-times experience of art with other people so they can enjoy it too. My
workshops and classes are growing in popularity and it’s very satisfying,
knowing people are choosing to learn from me. I’d toyed with the idea of
teaching art for many years, but it wasn’t until after my dad died that I
decided to give it a go.
