The one day National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Proficiency Award will re-qualify the learner with the knowledge and skills required in order to provide professional patrolling and water services, in surf conditions, with rescue skills and advanced fitness requirements. Aspects of the course are physically demanding and will include running, swimming to set times and some lifting. The Award is comprised of a variety of units and all must be successfully passed to attain the qualification. There is a minimum of 20 hours learning required for this course is. As this is not achievable within the one day period it is prior learning and continual professional development will be assessed before being able to sign on to the course. As well as this CPD a certain amount of pre course learning will need to take place before the course commences.

The emphasis is on competence, fitness to practice and life-long learning. Everyone shares responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, irrespective of individual roles. This course is for those who have already completed a Level 1 course and need to gain an advanced knowledge of Child Protection, including working towards becoming a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), manager or policy writer. This course is designed for individuals who work with children in either a paid or voluntary capacity. It relates to the issues surrounding safeguarding children by exploring the concepts of "child vulnerability", "child protection" and "significant harm"; coupled with the individual and organisational responsibilities of protecting children from abuse.

Areas of focus will include how to be safe on a night out, and also how to handle injuries specific to film sets (burns, electrocution, etc.) This is fantastic information to have both for your professional development and personal life.
