The hub believes that language is our identity and would join hands with similar bodies to keep the language alive. Ukwuani is a language spoken in 61 broad communities: Abbi, Emu, Utagba Ụno, Utagba Ogbe (Kwale), Ogume, Onicha Ukwuani, Obikwele, Ossissa, Ashaka, Abala, Ase, Ibedeni, Okpo Ekirika, Igbuku, Aboh, Akarai, Azagba, Asaba Ase, Afor, Oworobia, Adiawai, Awa, Anyama, Umuolu, Ibrede, Iyede-Ame, Onuogbokor, Beneku, Okpai, Onyah, Onuaboh, Ige, Utchi, Umuedem, Umụgboma, Ushie, Utuoku, Inyi, Osemele Asagba, Umukwata, Ụkabi, Umutu, Obi Igbo, Obiaruku, Ezhionum, Akoku, Obilo, Eziokpor, Adonishaka, Umuaja, Oboeti, Ebedei, Umuebu, Amai , Ejeme Aniogor (Aniocha South), Owa Alidima (Ika north), Agbor Alidima (Ika South), Ndoni (Rivers), Isukwe (Rivers), Ogba (Rivers), Egbema, (Rivers). It is a branch of the Volta-Niger language family and have slight dialectal differences in the Language based on their closeness to the four ethnic groups at their borders. These are: Igbo, Urhobo, Edo and Ijaw. The influence of these Languages is manifest in slight variations in their pronunciation manifesting in different dialects namely: Onuaboh dialect (Ndosumili area), Akashiada, Utagba (kwale) and Osissa dialect. The one spoken by the majority of the people is the Utagba dialect. It is easily understood by the speaker of the other dialects and it is the dialect that is used for Ukwuani language studies. Ukwuani language is also included in the list of 27 Nigerian languages approved by the Federal Government for the purposes of “mother tongue education”. Ukwuani language has a common ancestry with the Igbo language and Edo language .

Welcome to our Outstanding Chinese Academic School It is our pleasure to welcome new and returning students to Hua Hsia in 2022. We hope you have all had a lovely summer! As always during these summer months, we take a step back to unwind and relax while awaiting the GCSE and Pre-U results of our students who have worked tirelessly to secure themselves top grades. The good news arrived earlier this week and we are delighted to announce this year’s cohort achieved outstanding GCSE and Pre-U results! Our GCSE group, made up of 10 students (7 in class and 3 private), achieved nine 9 grades (highest possible grade, akin to an A*) and one 8 grade. This keeps us in line with our 100% grade 8-9 track record and even gives us a 90% grade 9 achievement rate. Our Pre U group, made up of 3 students (all in class), achieved 2 Distinctions and 1 Merit. These brilliant outcomes are well deserved and are a testament to both the talent and dedication of pupils and staff, and to the quality of education maintained throughout the last two-and-a-half years even with all the speed bumps along the way. A very special thanks to Teachers Katja, Nicole, and Joseph for supporting students to unlock their full potential. The return of public exams has given the students the opportunity to clearly demonstrate the fruits of their continued hard work and focus during the challenges of the pandemic, especially in a period where nationally pupils were being warned of lower grades. Thankfully, things here have since rebounded as strongly as ever, with these pupils, and the School as a whole, able to look forward with optimism to what comes next. We look forward to seeing you all on the 10th and 11th of September, as we reopen our doors for another academic year.

Here are the most interesting Polish customs which is good to be familiar with: Curious people Polish people are very curious towards international visitors. They are very much interested in different cultures, however if you only look back – nothing has happened 😉 Shaking hands It is very Polish to shake hands when you introduce yourself. YOu do it always with your right, bare hand. It is considered impolite if you do it in a glove. Keeping an eye contact When speaking to someone, keep an eye contact for most of the time. Personal questions It is quite common in Poland to be asked questions which are often considered as private. As Poles are curious people, they like to get into little details, so do not forget to be assertive. Meal schedule Food in Poland is often fat and served with meat. Soups are very popular and offer a great variety of types & tastes. Typically in Poland people eat 3 times a day. Bruderszaft It is a fraternal toast, after which Polish people start to address each other with first names, and declining it can be seen as an insult. Relationships become more cordial after this little ceremony. Bruderszaft is two people raising toasts simultaneously with arms interlocked and drinking. The last part is an exchange of kisses and a handshake.
