With a background in Drama, Alastair's Teaching career spans some 16 years, he has worked in many different educational settings , including Autistic Units , SLD Schools and MLD Schools , before settling into a long term stint at a PRU. Alastair worked for eight years as senior teacher in a Pupil Referral Unit for a London Borough. He dealt with pupils excluded from mainstream school, primarily because of emotional and behavioural difficulties. He was responsible for developing and running anger management and social skills groups in mainstream schools for pupils at risk of exclusion. For many years he has run courses for teachers and practitioners as well as children and adolescents. Alastair is an advanced tutor for restraint, qualified through ‘Team Teach’. The Primrose School of Dance was established by Kimber Benton in 2010 with a simple mission in mind – to take fine arts to children in the community. As the name suggests, we teach pupils how to dance. But for us, it’s much, much more than that. It’s about giving young people an introduction to the beauty of dance and open conversations through art. It’s about inspiring them, giving them confidence, creating a structure through which they can thrive, and at the end of the course a spotlight under which they can shine. We believe what we deliver is important. That’s why we care about how we deliver it. Our ethos is shared by all of our engaged and energetic instructors. They’re all experienced – with at least two years’ dance teaching and a degree or equivalent dance teaching experience – and passionate about giving youngsters the opportunity to bloom. They’re all trained to teach to the Primrose School of Dance guidelines, ensuring quality and continuity across our service, and follow accredited dance syllabus guidelines when delivering classes. Learn from only the bestThe 4th New Talent British International Youth Music Competition is organised by Amy Yuan Academy in association with British Music Society. The Royal Academy of Music is an Official Partner Institution. This year’s competition will be held online due to the restrictions posted by the Covid-19 development. The Competition aims to offer young people the opportunity to showcase their musical talents, a forum to exchange ideas with young musicians from other countries and cultures and to receive impartial feedback, encouragement and assessment of their performances by UK’s top music professors and educators. In light of the global impact of Covid-19, we also hope that this competition will serve as a platform where people come together to celebrate their mutual love of music and feel supported and inspired that music will always bring light to our lives and lift us as we find our way through difficult times. We offer New Talent Talks 2021 which is a series of talks hosted by members of our Jury Panel and other guest speakers. These talks are free of charge for participating Competition candidates and took place online during the week beginning 16th August 2021 and the rebroadcasts are still going on this week.
