Date: 12th March 2024 Time: 4pm Location: Studio A Acclaimed actress Ruth Negga will be joining us in a Professional Perspectives session next month, discussing her career, experiences working with many famous directors (Neil Jordan, Jeff Nichols, James Gray & Duncan Jones amongst others) as well as on TV shows such as Preacher, Misfits and Agents of SHIELD. There will also be a Q+A session towards the end where students can ask her questions directly. Be sure to book tickets in advance so that you can secure your place for this exciting event!

Date: 24th October 2023 Time: 4pm Location: Studio A Sorcha Kurien-Walsh, a former pupil at Central Film School, has kindly agreed to join us to discuss her career as a TV screenwriter and her work on the upcoming comedy series Rivals, set to star David Tennant and Danny Dyer and release on Disney+ next year. Additionally, she will speak about her BBC Studios short film 'The Pink Pill', and answer any questions students may have about working as a screenwriter in the TV industry. Make sure to come along and bring questions to ask her!

Time: 4pm Date: Thursday 9th November Location: Studio A Writer and director Andrew Legge joins us via Zoom for this exclusive screening event, where we'll be showing his recently released film 'LOLA' in Studio A, followed by a discussion and Q+A. Set during World War 2, the film charts the amazing invention by two sisters of a computer that's able to show glimpses of the future. By altering events in the present, the world changes around the two women, as time and space reach near breaking point. One of the best underground films to come out this year, be sure to come and see it, and then get a chance to speak to the man who made it afterwards!

Date: Thursday 15th June Time: 4pm Location: Studio A - Landor Road Event Details: Tim Haines is a television producer and director, having worked on several highly-respected documentary and drama productions over a storied career. Tim will speak about the following topics as well as others at the event: Approaches to Documentary How a Documentary Gets Made The Purpose of a Documentary Modern Combinations of CGI & Live Action Throughout students will have the chance to ask questions about the topics being discussed, before wrapping up with a wider Q+A session at the end. Download here Course Level Basic or Foundation Training Methods The VILT course will be delivered online in 5 half-day sessions comprising 4 hours per day, with 2 breaks of 15 minutes per day. Course Duration: 5 half-day sessions, 4 hours per session (20 hours in total) Other than world-class visuals and slides, this VILT course will include a high level of interaction between the facilitator and participants and group discussion among the participants themselves. There will be a number of exercises & quizzes to demonstrate key points and to give participants the chance to apply learning and appreciate key aspects of best practice. Participants will also have the chance to share examples from their own experience, discuss real problems they are facing and develop actions for improvement when they return to work. He has taken roles in Projects, Human Resources and Integrity Management which give real breadth to his approach. He also specialized in Continuous Improvement, gaining the award of International Petrochemical Coach of the year. He stays up to date with the latest industrial developments through his consulting support for major clients. He is also the Asset Management lead and a VILT specialist, having delivered over 70 days of VILT training in the last year. He has an engaging style and will bring his current industrial experience, proficiency of VILT techniques and diverse content, gathered from a comprehensive training portfolio, to deliver a distinctive training experience. Areas of focus will include how to be safe on a night out, and also how to handle injuries specific to film sets (burns, electrocution, etc.) This is fantastic information to have both for your professional development and personal life.
