In USA, education is the right of every child and the Government has set up schools to ensure that right is fulfilled. However, they cater to the secular needs only, whereas a human being is both a temporal and spiritual creation and needs abound in both these aspects of the human being. Hence Al-Iman School has taken it upon itself to provide a balanced education that caters to both the needs: secular and spiritual. Parents who feel the need to train their children for the Here and The Hereafter send their children to Al-Iman to ensure that not only academically but morally and spiritually their children attain the ‘whole’ (secular) and ‘holy (religious) values. The School is accredited by the New York City and the New York State Board of Education. INCEPTION AND GROWTH On the orders of Ayatollah al-Khoei, Al-Iman School in New York opened its doors to four children in September 1990; with that it started an evolutionary process that, within four years, resulted in the first fully fledged Pre K-12 Islamic school in North America. The growth from Kindergarten to Grade School to Junior High to High School can only be described as phenomenal. Every year, between 1990-1994 several grades were added simultaneously as applications poured in, pregnant mothers registered their children and waiting lists grew by the day. In September 1994, Al-Iman School added the high school component and in 1998 the first class of seniors – a historic moment – graduated to go to various reputable universities and colleges such as Stony Brook, St John’s, Columbia, New York University, Baruch etc. in the country. Since 1994, many an Al-Iman Junior High School students sat for and aced the Specialized Entry Examinations to High Schools and Academies. Al-Iman alumni can be seen inter alia, in medical colleges, nursing colleges, law schools and institutions of higher learning and repute.

Equip International exists to Equip God's people in holistic ministry to disciple the nations. By showing how God is reconciling all things to Himself (both physical and spiritual), we have an open door to share the good news of Jesus and show what difference it makes to follow Him. We do this by: Partnering We believe ministry is done best when we all work together. That’s why we partner with other missions agencies, churches, and missionaries to help them better serve those in their ministry contexts. Learn more about who we partner with here. Training At Equip, we believe faith and work go hand-in-hand. Training missionaries in agriculture, appropriate technology, medical procedures, and community health evangelism opens the door for community transformation through Christ. We help missionaries live out their faith in Christ in tangible, relevant ways by serving their communities. Find out more about our training opportunities here. Sending Equip sends adventurous individuals living out their unique call to share the Good News of Jesus Christ around the globe. We seek out and send missionaries ready to make an impact for God's Kingdom in practical, life changing ways. Explore the varied work of our missionaries all over the world, as well as learn how you can become an Equip missionary, We believe in advancing the Kingdom of God through collaboration with other mission agencies, churches, and missionaries to better serve communities in need, ultimately equipping God’s people to fulfill the Great Commission. Mission Organizations As we partner with other Christ-centered missions agencies, we seek to understand their training needs so we can equip them with relevant courses that further the work in their particular contexts. Our specialized, hands-on training goes beyond typical missionary orientation and can enhance the professional development provided by our agency partners. Churches We come alongside churches in their short-term missions ministry, providing customized training to church members in preparation for their upcoming trips. Also, if a church is sending a missionary, we provide a host of courses that can prepare individuals and couples for long-term missions service. Missionaries Missionaries come to us with an entrepreneurial vision for serving others, and we help them refine that calling and formulate a plan on how to get where they want to go. Our help to them may be as simple as providing a course to help them gain a necessary skill or as long-term as becoming their sending agency.

WCCM in the UK is a national community of the World Community for Christian Meditation, a global spiritual community united in the practice of meditation in the Christian tradition. It shares the fruits of this practice widely and inclusively, serving the unity of all and building understanding between faiths and cultures. Community members of WCCM worldwide are those who follow the WCCM Mission Statement: To communicate and nurture meditation as passed on through the teaching of John Main in the Christian tradition in the spirit of serving the unity of all. In practical terms this means that the community offers opportunities for people to learn about meditation, helps them to deepen their practice over the years and encourages them to provide opportunities for others to do the same – not only though local group meetings but also through sharing meditation more widely in such spheres as prisons, schools and the marginalised in our society, as a few examples. At a local level, the UK community is widespread and many followers meet on a regular, mostly weekly, basis to meditate together in churches, halls and homes. These groups help to nurture and support a growing practice of meditation. Structurally, groups are ordered into regions to facilitate communication, local contact and the organisation of regional activities such as quiet days and retreats. You can find your local group and region here. As well as meeting in physical groups, the community facilitates on-line meditation and providing the opportunity to meditate with others at most times of the day and night across the globe. You can search for online groups here. At a national level there are essential teaching weekends and silent retreats as well as an annual conference for sharing and deepening the practice. The UK charity is run almost exclusively by volunteers. The organisation of WCCM in the UK is through a registered charity with a Board of Trustees and a National Council comprising principally the Regional and Special Interest Coordinators and guided by a National Coordinator. The day-to-day facilitation of the community is managed through a body called the Action Group, chaired by the National Coordinator, along with a very small office team. If you would like to become involved, at a local, regional or national level, please get in contact with the National Coordinator, see the Contact List for email address and phone. A list of current roles and contact details are recorded on the back of the newsletter, which is published 4 times a year, and you can find the most recent and historical copies here. Alternatively, please contact the office through the Contact Us facility
