the society of musculoskeletal medicine
London
The Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine provides a comprehensive programme of
postgraduate courses, from stand alone courses to a full Masters Degree
validated by Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. Our courses are aimed at
physiotherapists, GPs, consultants, podiatrists, osteopaths and other healthcare
registered professionals – UK & overseas. The Society is a leading provider of
musculoskeletal therapy and training. Set up in 1979 to carry on the pioneering
work of Dr James Cyriax, The Society is focused on advancing study in the field
and opening the door for new practitioners and therapists. The Society’s
Foundation syllabus is divided into three units that include the principles of
assessment, clinical diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions
affecting the ten areas of the body: Cervical Spine, Shoulder, Elbow,
Wrist/Hand, Lumbar Spine, Hip, Knee, Ankle/Foot, Thoracic Spine, and the
Sacroiliac Joint. The Advanced Modules build on the foundation principles to
enhance skills in Injection Therapy and Advancing Clinical Practice.
