leicester lo-fi photography community darkroom
We promote fine art and traditional photographic processes, through the
provision of specialist knowledge and facilities, education and exhibitions. We
started in 2011 with no place to call a home, but we managed to hold workshops
and events at any place that would have us, and let us convert toilets and
cupboards into darkrooms. Since then moved into accommodation and build a
community darkroom, At the Manor House off Narborough Road. In April 2017, we
were forced to vacated the Manor House and started to look for a new darkroom
space. In December of the same year we opened our new darkroom at 376A Western
Road – we spent a happy 2 years at Western Road, but time came to move on. We
are now, as of the end of 2019, building a new darkroom space in the basement of
the Methodist Church on Bishop Street. Look out for announcements on here and on
Facebook and twitter of when we will be reopening. We’re a very social group and
our evening sessions and workshops are very relaxed and informal, and a great
place to come and learn new skills and techniques you might have never heard of.
